Who we are
Housing Plus provides supported accomodation for young people preparing to leave local authority care with a safe and nurturing environment that promotes empowerment, independence and choice and enhances their core living skills, ability to fulfil their potential and to realise their dreams.
We offer high quality, supported accommodation in a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment; one we would be happy to live in ourselves. Every young person is given appropriate support and guidance to tap into their potential and to develop the motivation and skills they need to lead a fulfilling and rewarding life, and to be a responsible citizen contributing to and valuing society. The accommodation we provide has shared living areas to promote community. All the young people have their own furnished, lockable bedroom and some have an en-suite bathroom. Shared communal areas include a fully equipped kitchen. In most of the settings there is access to a garden.
Housing Plus has robust safeguarding policies and procedures in place to protect the welfare and well-being of the young people in our care. These policies outline clear guidelines for identifying, reporting, and responding to safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately.
Our culture and values
The supportive environment at Housing Plus actively facilitates each young person’s access to education or vocational training and, where appropriate, to employment opportunities. We recognise the challenges young people may encounter as they prepare to leave care and transition to independent adult life. By providing them with positive role models and dedicated, empathetic, passionate and experienced staff support, we aim to successfully equip them with the life skills they need to move forward and make positive contributions in the future.
Housing Plus prioritises effective communication, promoting open dialogue, feedback, and transparency among staff members and stakeholders. It mandates that essential training is undertaken by staff. It also encourages them in their professional development by investing in ongoing training, workshops, and growth opportunities. This commitment ensures that the team remains updated with the latest best practices.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We work within a well-established equality, diversity and inclusion policy in respect of employees and the young people we support. We recruit staff members who we assess as being able to respect and support difference due to their own lived experiences and ability to respect and celebrate difference.
As an organisation that has primarily worked with asylum seeking young people since 1998 we have developed an expertise in this area. We work hard to celebrate the cultural and religious needs of the young people and our staff and we embrace and celebrate the culture and traditions they bring to us.
