Our intensive master’s programmes, allow you to study for an LLM over a concentrated, four week period of time. The intensive master’s programmes are designed to offer you the opportunity to conduct postgraduate study without substantially disrupting your existing work and family life.

Undertake supported learning, including a dissertation, throughout the year, or spread your study over a longer period of time. Programmes are taught over four weeks – two weeks in April and two weeks in June/July.

For students from anywhere in the UK or Europe, and internationally, this is an opportunity to study in London without having to set up a new home, or leave your current job.

We have designed our intensive programmes to provide you with 25% more face-to-face teaching than a conventional LLM. Course orientation and induction is carried out online, and course materials and detailed study-guides are distributed three months before face-to-face teaching begins, to allow for reading and preparation. Once enrolled, students will have access to the full range of Birkbeck facilities.

An intensive course is different from ‘distance learning’ where the onus is much more on you teaching yourself. With an intensive programme, your learning begins on enrolment, but you retain the advantage of being taught face-to-face by leading scholars. You will also gain valuable contacts through networking with other students.

Our intensive master’s degrees

Our intensive programmes focus on major transformations in social, economic, and legal structures and will help you to reflect on your current knowledge and experience, and acquire new knowledge and skills in a rapidly changing world.
