We are seeking an Accounts Officer to support our Finance Director in managing the financial operations within the UK office. This pivotal role contributes to our mission by ensuring financial accuracy, adhering to compliance standards, and facilitating effective financial administration.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in daily financial operations, including processing transactions, managing payroll, and handling expenses for staff and volunteers.
2. Support the month-end financial closing process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
3. Help in preparing and filing VAT returns and managing compliance with HMRC regulations.
4. Serve as a contact point for UK banking operations, helping to maintain robust banking relationships and mandates.
5. Contribute to the maintenance of financial controls and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
6. Assist in providing financial training and support to BIF staff, promoting understanding of financial policies.
7. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure alignment of financial procedures and support the Finance Director in strategic financial planning.

Competencies and Qualifications:

1. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
2. Experience in financial operations, preferably within a charity or NGO setting.
3. Preferably progressing towards/has recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ICAEW)
4. Understanding of UK financial regulations and tax laws, with specific knowledge of VAT and GiftAid advantageous.
5. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
6. Effective communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with both finance and non-finance colleagues.

SARSVL is looking for a highly skilled and experienced, self-employed charity finance professional to manage the day-to-day running of all financial aspects of the Charity’s work, in the freelance role of Finance Support Contractor. The role includes bookkeeping, financial reporting, accounting, banking and Company Secretarial work for the Charity.

We are a specialist voluntary sector organisation offering a range of services to women, girls and non-binary people (who feel our woman-centred approach is right for them) who’ve been through child sexual abuse (CSA), rape or any kind of sexual violence at any time in their lives. 

Hours are flexible to reflect the workload at a particular point in the Charity’s year, but the current incumbent works on average about 20 hours per month. The role is home-based, with willingness and ability to meet in person in Leeds city centre up to 6 times per year (negotiable)

The Role

You will be running a small team and will be required to be hands on to deliver all requirements of running a finance department.

You will lead on financial management and modernise our internal processes and identify areas for improvement and efficiencies in the current management accounting process and put in place new processes if required.

What you’ll do:

• Manage the Finance Function of the charity
• Manage the year end, annual budget setting and external audit process
• Production of monthly management accounts, reporting and variance analysis
• Treasury function with management of all bank accounts and credit cards and strategic financial planning
• Manage all grants, funder budgets and reporting requirements and contribute to production of tenders
• Work with the COO in supporting and preparing all reporting for the Finance Sub Committee (FSC), the Board, Strategy Implementation and Impact SC (SIISC) and the Senior Leadership Team and deputise for the COO as required

Who you are:

• You have experience in a Head of Finance role with a similar size charity or grant giving organisation
• You are qualified, QBE or studying towards a professional financial qualification
• You have a good working knowledge of relevant legislation including funder terms and conditions, employment law, charity compliance with the Charity Commission and UK accounting standards and SORP reporting, auditors and bodies such as HMRC
• You have a working knowledge of Sage (Intacct) software
• You are capable of owning multiple tasks and seeing them through to their conclusion, meeting deadlines and prioritising work.

Job purpose

This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial sustainability and integrity of LGT, developing resilient foundations for our front-line services, community development, policy and campaigns work to grow in scale and impact.

Working closely with the CEO, Project and Team Leads, you’ll lead all aspects of financial management from budgeting, accounting and compliance, financial management of grants, to reporting to the Finance Committee to support the Board of Trustees and leadership with financial planning and decision making. Finance is the core of the role, however you’ll also use your data management and organisation skills to help us maintain and develop our workflow and data management systems and processes, and oversee other core operational functions delivered by our Business Operations Administrator.

The RCR is a charity with a focus on supporting doctors who deliver medical imaging and cancer services and we require a passionate and dynamic finance professional to helps us continue making a difference.

The Head of Finance will manage the high-performing finance team consisting of a Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant and Finance Business Partner. Sitting in the Business and Resources Directorate the team are instrumental to the successful running of the RCR. In this role you will be responsible for the operational finance function which handles accounting, financial reporting, planning and transactional activities as well as supporting longer-term strategic planning.

Overall purpose

Provide strategic financial leadership for Baca and be accountable for the provision of financial and performance information to enable the Leadership Team and the Board to ensure Baca is financially sustainable for the purpose of achieving its vision and mission.

Core skill will be as a qualified accountant but you will demonstrate a range of experience leading teams and delivering a range of projects across the organisation using a joint working approach. Key Responsibilities

Resource Planning, Budgeting and Reporting

• To direct Baca annual budget setting and longer term strategic financial planning, with robust analysis of income, expenditure, forecasts and cashflow.
• To deliver high quality financial reporting, providing advice and support, in writing and verbally, as required for the Leadership Team, the Finance and Fundraising sub-group and the Board of Trustees.
• To ensure budget holders receive up to date timely and accurate management accounts and information in order to maintain day to day control of the expenditure budget.

• Identifying and responding to long-term strategic risks, challenges and opportunities to enable Baca achieving its Strategic Goals.

Financial Systems, Control and Accounting

• Oversee the integrity of all financial systems: Develop, monitor and manage the organisation’s financial systems, policies, procedures and internal controls and the development of a consistent approach across Baca.
• To lead the preparation of the organisation’s accounts for audit in accordance with current accounting good practice and Charity Commission’s Standards of Recommended Practice (SORP), liaising with the auditors and present the final accounts to the Finance and Fundraising sub-group and Board for approval.
• To be responsible for adhering to financial delegated authorities as agreed with the Chief Executive and Board.
• To implement, oversee and review Baca’s systems of financial risk management and controls assurance.
• To ensure the purchasing system operates effectively, ensuring sufficient supplies and services by working closely with the Operations Director.
• To lead the payroll provision and ensure that salary and related payments are made accurately and timely.
• To ensure that an appropriate register of assets are maintained accurately.
• To ensure that Baca has adequate cash holdings and cash is moved to interest bearing accounts as appropriate in line with Baca’s ethical asset management policy.

Team and People Management:

• Create, lead, manage, inspire and develop the finance team promoting Baca’s values by being visible, participative and encouraging cross team working

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to

Finance

• Provide expertise to the Board of Trustees in all accounting and financial areas as part of a mutually supportive Senior Leadership Team.
• Prepare and present finance Board papers on a quarterly basis.
• Work with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure operational performance and financial targets are met.
• Lead on the monthly financial reviews to ensure we exercise rigorous financial control to optimise performance.
• Work with the Senior Leadership Team to push forward revenue opportunities and initiatives to drive cost efficiencies.
• Ensure the finance team has the right skills, processes, controls to ensure all aspects including purchase ledger, credit control, payroll and reporting work effectively.
• Overall responsibility for the preparation and completion of the annual budget for all divisions within the Company
• Control investment portfolio and short-term deposits and plan and manage the charity's tax liabilities under existing and proposed legislation. Evaluate the tax liability impact of contemplated courses of action
• Oversee the management of staff payroll and other benefits (Company Cars, private health scheme etc) including expenses
• Manage all pension activities
• Overall responsibility for the preparation of annual accounts. Ensure a satisfactory audit of these accounts and other interim accounts as may be required
• Analyse commercial elements of tenders and bids as required and advise on commercial viability of each proposal before tender or bid is submitted
• Overall responsibility for the procurement of goods and services across the organisation to achieve efficiencies.

Leadership and People Management

• Promote a highly visible leadership profile that incorporates our commitment to equality of opportunity, professionalism and quality standards
• Maintain an effective system of communication across the division, that ensures key information can be cascaded to staff effectively
• Together with the Senior Leadership Team ensure that business objectives are clearly understood across the organisation and that divisional activities support their achievement.
• Establish an effective methodology for managing performance of staff in order to support the achievement of business objectives
• Establish effective and productive relationships with all members of the Senior Leadership Team in order to deliver business excellence
• Encourage partnership working and cooperation pan RBLI.

The Successful Applicant

• Experienced Financial Director
• Significant experience at senior management level, with substantial budgetary responsibility and a proven track record of achievement in at least two relevant service areas
• Fully CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualified
• Financial accounting experience of financial management in a commercial or not for profit organisation
• Solution oriented with a proven ability to successfully deliver in a complex environment
• Exceptional people leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate, develop and inspire people to deliver outstanding performance
• Experience of successfully working at senior level with Boards and Committees
• Up-to-date knowledge of legislative frameworks, regulatory requirements and key issues relevant to the post
• IT literate (Microsoft Office)

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Finance Team in the role of Finance Assistant.

The Finance Assistant supports all aspects of the Hallé’s work at the Bridgewater Hall, the Hallé Venues and concert halls across the UK.

The Finance Assistant works in a department currently comprising Finance Director, Finance Manager, Assistant Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.

The department is responsible for all aspects of the financial affairs of the Society and its related trusts. The Finance Assistant is responsible to the Assistant Finance Manager.

They take responsibility for processing the day-to-day transactions of the company across purchase ledger, sales ledger and the cash book, and ensure the smooth operation of the office. They will also need to work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Hallé as well as with external customers and suppliers.

The post is full-time permanent based on a 36.25-hour week. Our core office hours are 09.00-17:15, from Monday to Friday. There is an option to work up to 50% of hours from home.

Consideration will be given to applicants wanting to work part-time at an appropriate level to meet the requirements of the role.
