About Women and Girls Network

Women and Girls Network (WGN) is a London-wide counselling and therapy service. We offer support for any woman who has experienced violence or abuse.

We work with all forms of gendered violence, whether long-past or recent. This can include threats of violence, coercion and other forms of neglect or deprivation.

Violence against women and girls takes place in all areas of our lives: in the home; in schools, colleges and universities; in workplaces; playgrounds, clubs and places of entertainment; in hospitals, prisons and detention-centres; in all areas of private and public life. It takes many forms, including:

•child sexual abuse,
•domestic violence,
•dowry related violence,
•female genital mutilation,
•forced marriage,
•gang violence,
•“honour” crimes,
•prostitution,
•rape,
•sexual exploitation,
•sexual harassment,
•stalking,
•state violence,
•torture,
•trafficking and the violation of women and girls in conflict zones.
We believe that there is no situation in which a woman is responsible for violence perpetrated against her.

Our services include both counselling and body therapies, which reflects our commitment to a holistic approach to the healing of mind, body and spirit. Therapies are provided by our specially trained multicultural team. We aim to empower women by offering them choices in their therapeutic activities, encouraging each woman to be a self-nurturing, active and creative participant in her healing process.

WGN was established as a charity in 1987 (registered charity no. 1014300).
