About us

Who we are

RASASC offers support to male and female survivors of rape and sexual abuse in Surrey. Survivors can access individual counselling, self-help groups or anonymous helpline support. Many survivors will not talk about their experience for years. They may have been attacked or groomed when they were children, teenagers or adults, by people they trust or even family members. It doesn’t matter how long ago it happened, RASASC will be there to help and support them. Our youngest caller was just seven years old and the oldest was in her eighties. RASASC offers long term therapeutic counselling to survivors and their close family and can benefit from that support for up to two years. Survivors may have been faced with life or death situations in their attack and may have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Those who have experienced long term childhood sexual abuse turn to to drugs and alcohol, eating disorders and self-harming and all may suffer from panic attacks, agoraphobia, nightmares, flashbacks and depression. They have often lost all trust, self-esteem and self-confidence and cannot work or form good relationships. RASASC is run by an amazing team of five staff, 70 volunteers and 2 Patrons; MP Anne Milton and actress Susan Penhaligon.
