At FearFree we are proud to deliver services across the Southwest, and we're excited to be expanding our offer, with the introduction of a new Education, Training and Employment (ETE) Service.  We have a full time vacancy (37 hours per week).

As a Support Advisor you will be a fundamental part of our team, supporting the delivery of the ETE programmes and the development of the service. The service will provide a range of trauma-informed and person-centred support, focused on supporting those impacted by abuse to access education, training, employment or volunteering.

You will be responsible for providing trauma informed support through group work and 1-1 support. Working alongside a team of practitioners across our geographical patch in Devon. The project aims to:

• Increase volunteers in FearFree and support people to access volunteering opportunities externally.
• Support individuals impacted by abuse to access training and employment.
• Help people access bespoke apprenticeships and internships.
• Support service users to increase and advance work related skills, such as the development of CVs, financial management and IT skills.
• Raise awareness of this agenda to a wider network.

The service will support victims of Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence and Stalking aged 15 and above, alongside perpetrators of Domestic Abuse – empowering victims and reducing the risk of recidivism for perpetrators.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in working with vulnerable people and an understanding / experience of the ETE sector. They will have an understanding of trauma informed practice and ideally have experience implementing this within group and 1-1 settings. Main responsibilites and tasks

• Work closely with the service manager to set up and develop the service, supporting its ongoing growth and expansion.

• Work closely with the services across FearFree, developing close working relationships and supporting clients who may be accessing support from our other services.

The aim of the Interpersonal Trauma Service is to improve the health, wellbeing and safety of people who have been exposed to trauma arising from sexual violence and abuse and/or domestic abuse.

Following a successful trial in several surgeries, this service is now being rolled out across Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay. So, this is a very exciting opportunity to take ownership and be part of an innovative new service, delivering real improvements to the local community.

You will work across a specified number of GP practices, to offer support to health professionals working in practices, people who have experience of interpersonal trauma arising from sexual violence and abuse and/or domestic abuse, as well as a service for people at risk of perpetrating abuse.

You and the team will provide training to GP surgeries to improve identification, enquiry, and response for patients. You and your team will also support adults and children who have been impacted by interpersonal trauma with emotional and practical support, focusing on trauma stabilisation. The team will be responsible for facilitating timely access to further appropriate support services where needed.

Key responsibilities:

• To provide specialist, individual and needs-led domestic violence/ abuse (DVA) and sexual violence (SV) advocacy and support to patients who are or have experienced DVA/SV, who are referred from participating practices or self-refer, and to provide onward referrals where appropriate.
• To provide signposting and onward referrals to patients who are affected by DVA/SV.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with general practice teams.
• To provide ongoing specialist advice and support around DVA and SV to practice teams.
• To encourage general practice health professionals to ask patients about their experience of abuse and respond, record, safety check and refer.
• To provide feedback on case outcomes to referring clinicians.
• To collect and collate performance and monitoring data for reporting purposes.

Advocacy and support work

Practice-based work

• Arrange dates for refresher training sessions with practices.
• Deliver DVA and SV training to clinicians and non-clinical staff in participating general practices.
• Promote awareness of the experiences and needs of people affected by DVA and SV, particularly in relation to their health.
• Develop a good relationship with all general practice staff and work effectively as part of the practice team.

About TASO

The Centre for Transforming Access and Student Outcomes in Higher Education (TASO) is an affiliate What Works Centre, and part of the UK Government’s What Works Movement. The Role

The Head of Communications and Engagement will lead TASO’s communications and engagement work plan to raise the profile of the organisation. They will also lead on TASO’s evidence mobilisation work plan, working with the Chief Executive, to ensure TASO’s research and evaluation outputs are effectively disseminated. 

This will involve ensuring a strategic approach to all communications activities, leading on the delivery of external-facing materials and publications, overseeing a vibrant social media presence and events programme. The role will have overall responsibility for a website redevelopment project over the next year. 

• Ensure a strategic and effective approach to communications, dissemination and stakeholder engagement.

• Lead on the design, branding and dissemination of innovative and engaging communications – both print and online, including oversight of the editorial and publication process for all TASO research reports and resources. 

• Lead on TASO’s evidence mobilisation plan, working with the Chief Executive and Research and Evaluation Team to ensure research outputs are effectively disseminated and achieve impact.

• Support the Chief Executive on delivering TASO’s policy aims. Many of the customers have complex needs including dual diagnosis and Support Workers are expected to liaise with other agencies within the borough in order to best support customers. What you'll do:

Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Team Leader/ Manager
Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions
Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available
Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community

• As brand guardian ensure that the brand’s values, messaging and visual identity are consistently represented across all touchpoints and throughout the organisation, including maintaining high standards of quality for all branded materials and manage the use of all communications suppliers for Turn2us.
• Lead the organisation’s accumulation of insights about stakeholders' experiences of Turn2us and lead the charity’s continued development of the brand’s articulation.
• Support internal stakeholders, including Elizabeth Finn Homes, partners, and funders on the brand’s values, identity, and guidelines through training, inductions and up-to-date brand guidelines.
• Collaboratively develop Turn2us’ marketing and communications strategy and develop an annual calendar of activity in harmony with our work, vision, purpose, values and strategy.

Purpose of Role

To provide an effective and high-quality service directly supporting individuals affected by sexual violence ensuring service delivery and performance standards are maintained at all times. Specialist Caseworkers will be supported by a professional management team providing training, procedures, operational, Reflective Practice and 1:1 supervision.

 

Main Responsibilities/Activities

1. For all survivors accessing the service

· Provide direct emotional and practical support, promote the building of resilience to enable survivors to move forward from the trauma.

· Ensure that service users feel safe, supported, heard, and believed.

· Ensure timely contact with new referrals and complete an assessment of emotional and practical needs.

· Support and develop the understanding of the impacts of trauma.

· Provide information and resources to normalise responses to trauma and offer reassurance.

· Facilitate connections, where appropriate, with family, friends, educational settings, and the wider community

· Promote engagement with specialist support services both internally and externally.

2. Quality Assurance

· Maintain confidential client records, sharing and managing information in accordance with PRCCG Policies and Procedures

· Develop and maintain effective working relationships with agencies supporting survivors.

· Ensure survivors receive the best possible standard of support in line with Rape Crisis National Service Standards

· Attend and participate in regular Team Meetings, Peer Review Meetings, one to one supervision and Reflective practice.
