We are looking for an experienced fundraiser, to lead on Neuroscience related fundraising for the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences as part of the friendly team working across the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford.

The Medical Sciences Division at Oxford has been ranked number one in the world for the last twelve years in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for clinical, pre-clinical and health sciences. Recent accomplishments of the Medical Sciences Division include its research into the COVID-19 pandemic, most notably through the delivery of the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine, which is estimated to have saved over 6 million lives.

About the role:

This fundraiser will work closely with the Heads of Departments and academics in the Departments of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences. The post will focus primarily on funding for research, academic posts, scholarships and infrastructure related to Neuroscience which includes Mental Health and neurological disease (e.g. Motor Neurone Disease, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Stroke and Epilepsy). The fundraiser will work on special projects including the possible major capital redevelopment of the Warneford site. While an interest in medical research and neuroscience is essential, you do not need to be a sciences graduate, just an enthusiast for knowledge.

You will need database experience. We use E Tapestry, but Raisers Edge or other charity database experience is relevant.

Role Context

ALIMA UK is in its start-up phase and is made up of a small team. This period is exciting at times unpredictable.  We need someone reliable who enjoys and has a proven track record of leading and delivering on operational projects for a business or charity while working with senior stakeholders. Job Purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Charity operations. This role is the first point of contact for supporters and requires outstanding customer care/ donor stewardship skills. Main Duties/Tasks

Fundraising & Office duties

Contribute to the efficient running of the public Charity office by receiving all donors and visitors in a welcoming and friendly manner.

Provide excellent customer care/ donor stewardship in all interactions with donors.

Manage the mail, ensuring it is opened, distributed and any donor correspondence is responded to in a timely manner.

Process donations in line with established receipting procedures.

Adhere to audit procedures and liaise with the Charity’s auditors.

About You:

About this role:

This is a new role in the organisation that will support the theatre’s CEO, Board and executive team including trustees, Finance Executive Officer and Exec Producer. The role will focus on supporting the CEO in the day to day operation of the organisation including fundraising, grant monitoring and data collection for evaluation purposes.

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience

Hours: 40 per week, including some weekend and evening work to attend Theatre shows and events

Key responsibilities:

Administration

1. Calendar Management:

• Manage and coordinate the CEO’s schedule, including meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.

• Anticipate and prioritize the CEO’s needs, ensuring optimal use of time.

2. Communication:

• Act as the primary point of contact between the CEO and internal/external stakeholders.

• Draft, edit, and proofread emails, documents, reports and presentations on behalf of the CEO.

3. Meeting Coordination:

• Arrange and coordinate executive meetings, ensuring all necessary materials and information are prepared.

• Arrange and coordinate Board meetings and Board subcommittee meetings.

• Take minutes during meetings and distribute action items accordingly.

4. Confidentiality:

• Handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.

5. Document Management:

• Organize and maintain electronic and hard copy documents, ensuring safe storage of important documents.

6. Special Projects:

• Assist the CEO in various special projects and initiatives, providing research and support as needed.

Fundraising

1. Fundraising, Research and Monitoring

• Assist the CEO and fundraising team with research for funding applications and cultivation campaigns.

• Develop and maintain a proactive prospect pool of potential funders in conjunction with the CEO and fundraising team.

• In conjunction with the CEO and fundraising team collate and compile funding applications and reports.

• Work with the fundraising team, CEO and senior management team to continue developing the theatre’s case for support, fundraising collateral, supporter crediting and events.

• Provide regular reports and updates on fundraising activities to the CEO and stakeholders and Board.

2. CRM and digital records

• Ensure finance and other colleagues are updated through agreed processes on fundraising income raised.

3. Donor Stewardship and Reporting

• Demonstrate to funders and donors the impact of their support on audiences and communities through the creation of compelling project reports. When necessary, provide evidence including showcasing outcomes, case studies and achievements to supporters.

• Prepare thank-you letters and donation receipts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Additionally, oversee the monitoring of reporting deadlines and requirements and donation reports in conjunction with the CEO and fundraising team as needed.

The successful candidate will have (essential criteria):

• Proven experience as an Executive Assistant, Fundraising Officer or similar role, supporting C-level executives

• An enthusiasm for administration and/or fundraising

• Evidence of a proactive attitude to work and the ability to take the initiative

• 1-2 years’ experience of administration, fundraising and/or marketing

• Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills

• Evidence of self-motivation

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant tools

• Sense of humour

Supporter Engagement Officer

Location: Tyndale House, Cambridge (Hybrid working available for the right candidate)

Tyndale House is a renowned institute for biblical studies and possesses one of the finest libraries for biblical research in the world. It aims to grow an international research community, to present the value of the Bible at the highest academic level, to resource the Church to understand and trust the Bible, and to promote informed attitudes to the Bible.

The Supporter Engagement Officer will play a key role in engaging, involving and inspiring all supporters of Tyndale House through building excellent relationships via a variety of communication channels. One of our ambitious plans for 2024 and beyond includes a capital campaign to rebuild our 1960s library into a state-of-the-art facility. We are looking for people to work with us to make this vision a reality.

The successful candidate will be integral to achieving our strategic priorities of generating income through repeat support, and providing exceptional journeys for our community of supporters, ensuring they feel valued and engaged. The role will provide strategic support to the Director of Engagement and work with the communications and development team to ensure that our outputs are cohesive and coherent.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, ideally within the Charity sector. He/she will be a self-starter, highly motivated and with the ability to work well as part of a team.
