We are partnering with a high profile member organisation in the land-based sector, actively seeking a new CEO. This leadership role involves navigating a major strategic shift towards becoming a significant grant funding charity. At this vital stage in the development of the organisation, the appointment of an experienced and skilled CEO is pivotal in driving this transformation.
The responsibilities will include:
- To manage the organisation to achieve the strategic objectives set by the Board within the requirements of corporate and charities regulations.
- To lead a team in line with best personnel practices.
- To prepare strategic and financial plans to meet the objectives set by the Board for their approval.
- To lead the implementation of the agreed plans working with the membership, committees and external supporting organisations to achieve the objectives.
- To lead fund raising activities and investment to maximise the charitable benefits provided by the organisation.
We are looking for individuals with knowledge and empathy for the rural sector and who have:
- Strategic Vision
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a strong strategic vision aligned with long-term organisational goals.
- Change Management Skills:
- Proven expertise in leading successful organisational transformations, encompassing changes in processes, structures, and culture.
- Strong Communication Skills:
- Excellent communication abilities with a focus on clear and transparent messaging.
- Collaborative Leadership:
- Track record of building and maintaining effective relationships internally (Board, employees) and externally (partners).
- Financial Acumen:
- Sound understanding of financial management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring financial sustainability.
- Cultural Awareness:
- Ability to understand and navigate the existing organisational culture.
- Experience in Similar Transformations:
- Preferably, a candidate with prior experience in successfully leading organisations through similar transformative phases.
There is a very attractive salary package to match experience and the requirements of the role. This is an office-based role with some hybrid working.

About the charity
The Charity Service helps major donors to successfully manage their charitable giving. Our core services include Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) and strategic philanthropy advice. We also manage a small portfolio of grant programmes for Greater Manchester. Having refined our strategy over recent years, we now have ambitious plans to engage with more philanthropists.
Salary: £44,000 pro rata
Location: Remote, office in Manchester with requirement to attend monthly meetings
Contract: Part-time, 2 days per week (14 hours)

The role
The Finance and Operations Manager will oversee the charity's back-office functions, ensuring that the charity meets the highest standards of governance and management and that the charity's philanthropy services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
* Providing the accounting and financial management function for the charity.
* Overseeing the management of the charity's portfolio of investments, including expanding the range of investment options for our DAFs.
* Managing the human resource and IT functions (although not essential that you have done this before, it could be a great learning opportunity).
About you
To apply, we'll be looking for you to clearly demonstrate:
* An understanding or ability to quickly get to grips with the charity regulatory environment.
* Financial management and accounting experience.
* Experience in using accounting software.
* Good communication skills, including excellent report-writing.
* A high level of competency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* An ability to work remotely under own initiative and manage time effectively.

We are seeking a part-time Grants Manager to work with the Director to help manage the Preservation and Conservation programme. You will be part of the whole grant making process including assessment of grant applications, portfolio management, undertaking due diligence and writing case papers for Trustees’ consideration. You will communicate with applicants and grant holders in order to understand their projects, seek further information, and keep them up to date with the assessment timetable.
Working with colleagues you will help develop and improve our application and monitoring processes with the aim to improve the experience for applicants and grantees. You will also support the Communications Manager to share stories and learnings from completed projects and celebrate their success.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years’ experience of grant making in the heritage sector with a good knowledge of the funding ecologies and policy environment. You will understand the needs, challenges and opportunities faced by small volunteer led heritage/community organisations and will be confident in using grant making databases and analysing data.

We are an ambitious charity providing essential services within our community, and this is an exciting time to join our organisation as our new Chief Executive. The scope of our work and demand for our services has grown considerably over the years, answering the needs we have seen within our community.
The new CEO will play a vital role in shaping the future, providing vision and strategic direction for the charity, as well as taking responsibility for all aspects of operational management including business planning, income generation, effective delivery of contracts, projects and services, policy and influencing, and oversight of operational support including IT, HR, and finance functions.
Working closely with the Board, you’ll be leading the development of our services in line with need whilst also increasing our profile, acting as an ambassador for the organisation and cultivating positive relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure the profile and impact of CAWF and its services. Effectively engaging staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders, while continuing to secure new funding streams will be key to your success. Location : Camden, North London. This role gives you the opportunity to work from home three days a week.

National Eczema Society is the UK charity dedicated to making life better for people with eczema and their families. As a relatively small and agile organisation, they punch above their weight and have big ambitions.
As Research Engagement Lead you will lead on medical research and patient research engagement for the Society.
This is a new role at National Eczema Society and demonstrates the charity's commitment to growing their support for eczema research. There is considerable scope for the postholder to shape the way the Society supports eczema research in the future. They have an ambitious strategy, including establishing a research grant programme and creating an 'Experts by Experience' patient panel to ensure research engagement drives the change people with eczema want most. The postholder provides the principal channel of communication and advice between the charity and the eczema research community.
The successful candidate will have experience of research grant administration and a background working with patients and supporting the involvement of patients and carers in research. You must be confident communicating complex science to a broad spectrum of people (ranging from researchers to the general public), be able to plan, budget and monitor grant award expenditure and be comfortable taking decisions and responsibility.

This rewarding and varied role will see you will have full participation in the formulation and presentation of the Society’s strategic and operational plans and work closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees to make the British Horse Society the best it can be.
The Society's Head Office is based near Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. Hybrid working is in place with 2-3 days per week required onsite.
Essential Criteria
- Fully Qualified Accountant
- Proven experience at a senior level in a finance role with responsibility across the whole finance function.
- Experience at a senior level as Company Secretary or equivalent
- Experienced in delivering finance system and/or ERP transformation
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop team members to their full potential.
- Demonstrated aptitude for strategic thinking, planning and analysis.
- Excellent financial planning, annual budgeting and forecasting skills
Desirable Criteria
- Charity sector experience particularly the nature of unrestricted, designated and restricted funds, VAT Partial Exemption, Gift Aid and the Charity SORP
- An understanding of education and qualification regulation and compliance
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
