The Volunteer, Engagement & Development Manager will sit within our leadership team structure and work proactively with colleagues across CABB, holding primary responsibility for the following key areas:

• Lead on the review, development and implementation of our volunteering programme, while ensuring the inclusion, engagement, diversity, impact and value of volunteers is recognised and celebrated.
• Provide line management to a small team of paid staff who work closely with and support our volunteers and engagement areas of the service.

Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general
drop-in advice service, we are a critical source of support to vulnerable residents. We have

Key duties

• Staff and volunteer management

About the role  

Smart Works are looking to appoint an exceptional Finance Manager to join our finance team at a time of significant growth for the organisation. Working closely with the existing finance team of four, the Finance Manager will play a crucial role in safeguarding the financial health of Smart Works Charity and its network of eleven centres across the UK. 

The Finance Manager will ensure financial systems and processes are followed, financial tasks are completed before deadlines and key stakeholders receive the financial information they need to make sound decisions.

• Comply with all financial systems and control processes for Smart Works.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Financial Inclusion Managers will play a central role in helping us achieve our vision for an end for the need for food banks in the UK. This is a varied, proactive and fast-paced role responsible for day-to-day coordination of local and regional projects and partnerships and providing direct support to food banks in your local area. The role will focus on delivering support and services to Trussell Trust food banks and partner organisations to develop and optimise timely access to financial inclusion support to those visiting (or at risk of needing to visit) food banks including through individual meetings, development visits, regional events, training sessions and national conferences.

Role responsibilities

· Assist food banks to develop their financial inclusion offering by providing advice and support to develop new initiatives and partnerships, optimise existing ones and/or develop referral relationships with advice sector partners

· Support good practice in service models, quality assurance processes, governance, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, referral pathways and engaging volunteers and promote a culture of learning and improvement and participation of diverse communities with lived experience.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with food bank staff and volunteers, as well as establishing effective partnerships with a range of stakeholders including (including those that work with specific diverse groups who are affected by poverty). This would include working with advice providers, local authorities, community organisations and churches (who are often involved in the governance and running of food banks) to build understanding of and commitment to the importance of effective financial inclusion provision in contributing to ending the need for food banks in local communities.

ABOUT BLACK ROOTZ

Black Rootz is a multigenerational growing project providing opportunities for Black and racially minoritised people to grow food for themselves, their families and their communities. Black Rootz was established in 2019 by a collective of Black growers in Haringey who recognised the need to organise to challenge the deep inequalities in the growing and food systems. Over the past 5 years, Black Rootz has developed a holistic practice for Black and racially minoritised communities incorporating intergenerational knowledge transfer, increased access to land and food sovereignty, regenerative environmental practices and reduced food inequality.

Black Rootz has been incubated as a project within The Ubele Initiative since 2019. As an established name in the growing community, it is now building towards an independent future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager is a new role that will provide hands on management capacity to Black Rootz. The role will bring experience and energy to support the delivery and continued development of the project’s core activities; the Community Growing Programme and a new workshop series. The Project Manager will take on a management position and, with support from Ubele, help the project to navigate decisions that will enable Black Rootz to achieve its overall social, environmental, and operational ambitions. 

The successful candidate will be central in Black Rootz’ journey towards a more independent and sustainable future. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with the complexity andholistic nature of Black Rootz and will be committed to its values. As a small team, the Project Manager will be as comfortable making plans and big decisions as they are rolling their sleeves up and being hands on to support the team. Having a key trustee relationship with the Treasurer, co- leading the Finance Sub Committee, you will join the Senior Leadership Team, who are a dynamic team of people working collaboratively across their portfolios to realise the aims and objectives of the charity. As part of the senior team, you will be expected to lead and shape the work across their area, to inspire staff as well as to challenge ways of working with a focus on delivering on the strategic aims and to the highest standards. This role will take an active role in driving forward cultural and strategic change across the organisation.

About You

The role demands flexibility, a high level of self-awareness and a 'can-do' attitude reflecting the demands of the operating environment both internally and externally. You must be proactive in keeping your professional knowledge up to date and have a commitment to personal and professional development.

You will have:

• Membership to an accredited accountancy body recognised by IFAC, (i.e. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA} qualified through examination, and subject to oversight by a professional body that upholds professional standards and exercises disciplinary powers.
• Experience of leading an agile approach to organisational budgeting and dynamic financial forecasting in a complex organisation.
• Experience at strategic level of financial management in the voluntary, public and / or private sector.

SARSVL is looking for a highly skilled and experienced, self-employed charity finance professional to manage the day-to-day running of all financial aspects of the Charity’s work, in the freelance role of Finance Support Contractor. The role includes bookkeeping, financial reporting, accounting, banking and Company Secretarial work for the Charity.

We are a specialist voluntary sector organisation offering a range of services to women, girls and non-binary people (who feel our woman-centred approach is right for them) who’ve been through child sexual abuse (CSA), rape or any kind of sexual violence at any time in their lives. 

Hours are flexible to reflect the workload at a particular point in the Charity’s year, but the current incumbent works on average about 20 hours per month. The role is home-based, with willingness and ability to meet in person in Leeds city centre up to 6 times per year (negotiable)

Role Overview:

The purpose of the Executive Director roles within Depaul is to ensure that the organisation’s vision, mission and values are delivered through a strategic, shared approach by the Trustee Board, Executive Team and wider workforce.

As the appointed candidate, you will manage the Finance and IT departments and provide strategic and operational management of financial and budgetary processes, ensuring sound, prudent, financial management in compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements, underpinned by relevant policies and procedures.

You will provide support for income generation, and other service activity, to secure financial sustainability.

You will also report to the CEO and manager a team of 10 people - currently 8 FTE in Finance and 2 FTE in IT, including 2 direct reports – Financial Controller and Head of IT & Systems.

As part of responsibilities, you be attend meetings of the Council of Trustees, the Trustees’ Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARC) and the Depaul Housing Services Board.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a financial service to Depaul UK that meets regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Ensure robust systems and processes for financial planning, analysis and reporting.
• Preparation of the annual statutory accounts and corporate reports to Depaul International, owning an effective relationship with external auditors.
• Support and guide budget holders and senior managers in their financial management responsibilities and produce the annual budget and periodic reforecasting.
• Provide strategic oversight, and monitoring, of the corporate risk register reporting to the CEO and Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.

The Middlesbrough Programme on Gendered Poverty is an exciting collaborative programme bringing together Buttle UK, the Smallwood Trust and Turn2us to test whether a co-produced & collaborative approach to grant-making can transform the lives of women and their children.

The programme aims to:

• Shift power to people worst impacted by gendered poverty and work to end gendered poverty 
• Develop the programme using co-production techniques so that the voices and experiences of the women and their children, who face issues created by gendered poverty, inform and shape the programme 
• Deliver the programme with and to communities of the most marginalised women and their children 
• Apply an evidence-based approach to our work and programme design 
• Use grants as a primary response and tool, effectively and efficiently 
• Learn as we go and work to understand how intersections of inequality impact on our grant making 
• Identify opportunities to influence other grant makers and policies to support wider system change.

We are seeking an energetic, organised and passionate Programme Manager who will work with us to take this programme to the next level. We want this project to be led and informed by the women affected by gendered poverty because we know it will help us have a greater impact and shift power.

The Programme Manager sits with Turn2us’ Local Programmes Team alongside two other programmes working with communities to achieve financial security for all.

We offer flexible working patterns, both in terms of hours and remote working, however regular in person work in Middlesbrough and London will be required.
