What will you be doing?
The Content Officer will be responsible for gathering assets and content from across Plantlife’s work areas to highlight and deliver our mission to secure a world rich in plants and fungi.
This is a collaborative and interesting role researching and creating content across multiple channels including videos and social media. You will be responsible for creating and writing blogs and developing engaging stories that captivate, deepen relationships and inevitably grow our audiences. We have some amazing stories to tell, and you will play a significant role in shaping them.
You will also be managing the day-to-day content on our website, telling our rich brand story, collating captivating newsletters, and be involved in various operational content projects supporting the wider communications team.
Who are we looking for?
You will be a highly organised and collaborative team player who is experienced in delivering high-quality content for multiple channels. The role involves forming strong relationships with colleagues across Plantlife to encourage a wide range of content that drives engagement with Plantlife’s work. You will enjoy helping the team across a range of communications, engagement and fundraising disciplines and strengthening our networks and partnerships.Ideally, you will have a passion for the environment and be proactive in developing content to enable the best outcomes for nature.
This is a fixed term 12 month contract, full -time (35 hours per week). We offer home or hybrid working and we have offices in Salisbury and Retford.

Partners for a New Economy (P4NE) is an international donor collaborative of philanthropic foundations, hosted by Swiss Philanthropy Foundation, with the vision of our economy redesigned for nature and all people to flourish. Our six funding Partners are based in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark and the United States, and our current staff team, led by Director Jo Swinson, has 5 people (3.3 FTE) all of whom work remotely (currently based in the UK, Denmark and Switzerland).

- Managing the Director & Programme Officer’s diaries
- Arranging online and in-person meetings and events
- Booking travel and accommodation for the Director and Programme Officer
- Working closely with the Programme Officer and Director to provide administrative support around our grant-making

We’re looking for a new Community Rail Support Officer based in southern England and the Midlands, to support our network of community rail partnerships (CRPs) and station adoption groups.
About us
Community Rail Network is a not-for-profit organisation, working across Britain, supporting a growing ‘community rail’ movement, which helps communities get the most from their railways, promotes sustainable and inclusive travel, coordinates volunteering and place-making, and brings people together.
Community rail is made up of 75 community-based partnership organisations, and around 1,200 station friends volunteer groups and other community-led initiatives around Britain. Their activities range from creative projects for young people, to advising train operators on service improvements, to building travel confidence with families and disabled people, to biodiversity projects at stations, to promoting greener travel and tourism by rail.
Our enthusiastic team of 22 works mainly from home in different locations, but we come together regularly in person and online. We work collaboratively to advise our members, provide training, events and resources, run campaigns, and champion community rail and its insights via decision-makers and the media. We believe in developing our team and supporting everyone to reach their potential while having a good work-life balance.
About this role
The purpose of this role is to provide support and advice to community rail partnerships and groups in the South of England and Midlands, on working effectively and delivering maximum benefit to their communities and railways.
You’ll be comfortable engaging and advising local groups and communities to extend existing and set up new initiatives, and to reach wider audiences with an evidence-led, place-based approach. As well as supporting local groups, you’ll work closely with the rail industry, and wider third and public sector partners to ensure collaboration and shared success.
Main responsibilities
- Provide direct support and advice to CRPs and their officers, and other community rail groups in the region. This includes responding to queries and requests, passing on specialist queries to other members of the team, and providing proactive support through our accreditation review process and as set out in our plans;
- Support the development of skills, confidence and effectiveness across the network of CRPs and station groups, helping them to increase their positive social, environmental and economic impact, including through referral to our training, events and resources;
- Support the development of emerging community rail partnerships, station friend groups and community-led stations and railway-related projects in the region;
- Helping our members to work effectively with rail, transport, local government and community partners, supporting effective relationship building and showing positive leadership and insights on community rail within the region;
- Work with the Support Manager on delivery and monitoring of our grant schemes, and support CRPs and groups in the region to apply, deliver successfully and report back on funded work;
- Gather and share examples, feedback and insights from our members across the region, to facilitate best practice sharing and confidence across community rail and to feed into our communications, resources, events and public affairs work;
- As a member of the Community Rail Network team, participate and contribute to our wider work as relevant, such as Community Rail Week, our annual conference and Awards.
Skills, competencies and experience
- Skills in in supporting community engagement projects; an understanding of and confidence in using community engagement, local communications, project planning and evaluation techniques
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work confidently with stakeholders at all levels and facilitate positive discussion; articulate and assertive
- Excellent writing and presentational skills
- Awareness of sustainable transport and social inclusion, and an appreciation of the importance of rail, sustainable travel and mobility to communities
- A demonstrable ability to manage time effectively and juggle a range of activities in an organised and professional manner;
- Proactive, positive and self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and inspire and enthuse others, and overcome hurdles to achieve results;
- IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, the internet and social media
Other information
- This post is home-based, but with regular travel (including overnight stays) within the south of England and Midlands, and nationally for team meetings
- The Community Rail Support Officer reports to the Support Manager within the Support and Development team
- Hours are 37 hours per week. A degree of flexibility and out-of-hours working (evenings and weekends) will be required, together with some travel and overnight absences
- This is a permanent position and includes a probationary period of three months from the date of appointment

Our team in Energy Saving Trust manages the national Home Energy Scotland service on behalf of the Scottish Government. The role
The role will lead the development, design and management of training programmes for Home Energy Scotland (HES) advisors, including our advisor induction programme which is certified by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA).

You will develop and oversee processes to maintain and improve the skills and knowledge for HES advisors. As well as this, you will integrate accessibility and inclusivity into all training and induction programmes to ensure that diverse learning needs are supported.

We will look to you to increase income support for our work from Scottish sources. You will also possess experience of leading on the development and delivery of fundraising-related communications, including compelling proposal and impact report writing. Our high-achieving Philanthropy Team is looking to recruit a Philanthropy Manager to help grow our donor portfolio and further increase philanthropic income for the RSPB. You will be responsible for cultivating a portfolio of prospects and donors through a range of engagement, to gain their financial support for programmes, projects and the wider RSPB. Working with colleagues in relevant departments, countries and regions, you will manage donor relationships and solicitation strategies to achieve the best outcome for the RSPB
What's the role about?
As a team player with a positive and diligent approach, you will:
- Look after your own portfolio of donors as well as reaching out to prospects and new donors. You will be responsible for fundraising information to advance plans and ensure prospect and donor records are accurate, incorporating any changes, new activities, updated plans, and new information as well as adding new relationships in keeping with data protection and team procedures.
- Work closely with your team and wider organisation colleagues to implement solicitation strategies, to secure financial support either by direct solicitation, preparing a written proposal, or working with senior management to make a solicitation.
- Be involved in the development of funding proposals for approved priority projects that will inspire potential donors to secure gifts.
- Contribute to the planning of and participate actively in events (face to face and online) to build relationships with donors and prospects for future income and to demonstrate the impact of gifts already received.
- Arrange meetings with individual donors at a variety of venues, including at our reserves, working closely with area and reserve colleagues to deliver an excellent experience for our supporters
- Be jointly responsible for the planning, writing, production and mailing of Philanthropy Matters, our publication aimed at philanthropic supporters.
- Build effective relationships both within the RSPB and external to it that will enhance its reputation and ultimately secure funding. This includes understanding donors’ wishes and aspirations and identifying links with approved priority projects with the aim of securing substantial gifts.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Intermediate levels of fundraising as demonstrated by work successes and recognised fundraising courses
- Experience in how to research and cultivate a prospect. And understanding of how to write a cultivation strategy
- Ability to write funding proposals and prepare briefing documents in advance of meetings and events
- Competent in the use of a CRM system (Salesforce), the Microsoft suite, other databases, research tools and methods
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members, and people and teams outside of our department
- Good judgement when working with donors and ability to recognise potentially sensitive areas between prospects and the RSPB to ensure reputational values are maintained
- Experience of having successfully managed and developed donor relationships leading to substantial support.

The role
Join us as our Principal M&E Engineer (Projects) and drive our M&E refurbishment program (Circa £4M to £6M per annum) across our diverse portfolio of M&E assets, from our mechanised locks and bridges – some of the oldest in the UK, pumping stations and water control structures, not to mention the historic Anderton Boat Lift as well as the very new. You will assess outputs from inspections, design and develop solutions, and produce specifications, and briefs to deliver works through our national framework contractors or in-house M&E delivery teams. Acting as delegated Sponsor under the Trusts Infrastructure Risk Framework, you will have the accountability for ensuring that the M&E program is governed effectively and delivers the objectives to meet the identified needs.
Your team will undertake the role of design lead within our project delivery teams, acting as the subject matter expert supporting the project manager. You will be joining us at a very exciting time for the team when we are planning future national M&E refurbishment delivery contracts and looking to deliver more work internally.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic project manager, with basic carbon literacy and an understanding of the schools system in the UK. The role will be responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery and iteration of Count Your Carbon – a comprehensive, web-based carbon footprint calculator, built in collaboration with, and for, schools. Funding has been secured for a large update to the calculator, which will involve working with subject experts, extensive project planning, supplier management and stakeholder-relationship management. The role will also have line-management responsibility for administration staff.
The successful applicant will have experience of developing project outlines and proposals; creating and maintaining project management documentation (such as operational plans, schedules and risk logs); managing, using and reporting from large datasets; delivering evaluating projects and implementing changes based on findings; reporting to varied stakeholders; and supporting fundraising activity.

About the Role:
As a new role for SocEnv, this is a fantastic opportunity to shape and establish the delivery of the Society’s engagement with training and education providers. Through the development of underpinning vocational and technical pathways to registration, including recognition of education, apprenticeship, and development programmes, you will contribute to the overarching goal of sustainability through environmental professionalism. The successful applicant will deliver the following:
- Manage the development and delivery of the Society’s provider engagement strategy.
- Keep abreast of education and skills developments relevant to the Society’s interests and provide timely briefings for the CEO.
- Create and manage a Skills & Education group with the Society’s Member Bodies.
- Facilitate mapping of SocEnv registrations to green jobs and associated entry routes and career pathways.
- Contribute to the development of standards, processes and guidance.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Head of Communications to join the team. As Head of Communications, you will lead the charity’s internal and external communications. From strategy development through to execution, you will be interacting with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders from policymakers to press and media. Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will have experience of managing complex communications projects involving multiple stakeholders and achieving measurable results.
