This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. It is specifically expected that the role will allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate other responsibilities, including caring.

The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups. To maintain good practice standards, provide timely information and advice to local churches, and operate a robust casework service.  To sustain and further develop a comprehensive safeguarding training programme that delivers nationally approved training effectively and with impact. 

We are seeking to appoint two experienced Safeguarding Officers on a permanent contract; altogether 1.3 full-time equivalent between the two posts, with hours being negotiable with successful candidates.The post holders will have a relevant professional qualification and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of direct safeguarding practice with vulnerable adults or children or both. The successful applicants will be expected to provide effective leadership across the District to promote a culture of safeguarding, whilst supporting survivors of abuse.Working with partners from the Church’s Learning Network, the post holders will be expected to contribute to the planning and delivery of the District’s safeguarding training programme.

Location: Home-based, own transport is essential as travel will be required region-wide.We need one member of staff to cover Cumbria and North Lancashire.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 17:00. Also to include some evenings and occasional weekends.

Salary: £40,000 to £42,000 pro rata, dependent on experience.

We’re looking for an experienced trainer to lead on the implementation and delivery of the Learning and Development framework issued by the House of Bishops.

• Be responsible for the organisation, implementation and delivery of the national safeguarding learning and development framework  
• Provide high quality face to face and online training to office holders (Clergy, Readers, those with Permission to Officiate), employees and volunteers in the Diocese of Coventry.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the national training and adapt materials as appropriate for the diocese.
• Network and liaise with safeguarding trainers from other dioceses and be part of the regional and national training network to share knowledge and best practice.
• Assist in supporting a small team of volunteer trainers capable of delivering training within the Diocese of Coventry.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of national and local safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Be responsible for safeguarding training administration
• In conjunction with the DSA, undertake continual evaluation, review and monitoring of the learning and development framework and other training materials so that they are kept up-to-date with new legislation, guidelines and best practice in safeguarding.
• Be responsible for safeguarding training information on different platforms
• In liaison with the DSA/ADSA, respond to and act upon requests for advice, information and guidance from individuals in the church who are concerned about the welfare of a child or adult at risk of harm.
• To undertake any other activity within the scope of the safeguarding team’s work, and the role-holder’s skills and experience, as reasonably requested by the DSA.

The post holder is an employee of the Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) and is line managed by the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor.

Other key relationships include the Diocesan Safeguarding team, Parish Safeguarding Officers, Clergy and Readers.

An enhanced DBS check will be required.

As an IT Support Specialist, you will seek optimal user experience by handling and coordinating tickets, training users, and identifying possibilities for improvements. Our technical environment is standard Microsoft M365, Entra, D365, etc. combined with a mix of commercial security tools and custom applications. This position reports directly to the ODI IT Infra & Service Delivery Manager. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Monitor and triage incoming tickets (Freshservice ITSM tool), provide timely response to all issues, update internal customers on status, solicit additional information, if needed;

• Responsible for the full professional handling of customer questions, requests, and incidents and take measures when issues arise; 

• Identify possibilities for structural improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our IT services, for example using PowerAutomate or similar;

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced operations manager to join our team. We are looking for someone who will help strengthen the foundations of our organisation, as well as help us expand our growing network of partner organisations across the UK. 

As a small charity, the role will require balancing practical tasks with strategic planning and management. Building on what has already been done, you will work directly with the CEO to help build the operational structure of Big Green Heart, and support its day-to-day operations. 

You will also facilitate the national deployment of Big Green Heart workshops across the UK, and will work with the CEO and trustees to implement the strategy needed to upscale the work of Big Green Heart.

• You will develop and implement operational policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.

• You will manage the operational activity of our Big Green Heart experience days, supporting the CEO in the delivery of them. 

• You will work closely with our partner organisations who are using the Big Green Heart model, ensuring that the high standards and values of our teaching are maintained.

• You will also work with the Big Green Heart team to onboard new partner organisations. You will work with them to understand their needs and secure buy-in. 

• You will collaborate with the trustees, who also contribute to tasks linked with Big Green Heart's development. 

• You will manage the budgeting and financial planning processes, working closely with the Treasurer.

• You will be trained as a Big Green Heart facilitator with an expectation that you may be needed to facilitate a workshop during your time at the organisation.

• You will participate in professional and networking events related to Big Green Heart’s field of intervention.

• You will support staff members, trustees and volunteers, providing guidance and training in the operations of the charity as needed.

• At least two years experience in operations management, preferably within the charity sector.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Manager to help us deliver missional projects aligned with our Refreshed Diocesan Strategy. The strategy includes several bold outcomes such as doubling the number of young people choosing to attend worship regularly and having 3% of total population in the diocese regularly attending our churches.

Our diocesan strategy prioritises resourcing excellent youth ministry in seven ministry areas, to grow younger and more diverse. The good news is that we have just received funding for a 3-year Youth Hubs Pilot project, to define and evaluate an innovative approach to mission and evangelism with young people in a rural context, researching models for growing young disciples with the support of key research partners. Our goal is to bring about a step-change in youth ministry for the Diocese of Hereford and create a replicable model for reaching young people with the gospel in a rural context.

Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester Dioceses are working towards reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030 and to incorporate sustainable working practices across all its operations. This includes churches, clergy housing, schools, diocesan offices, churchyards and curtilage land and investment land and housing.

A key aim will be to reduce the emissions from energy consumption year-on-year across the Dioceses, working with the national Church of England Routemap to net zero as a key guiding document.

The post holder will be leading, alongside a committed team, in the development of the Net Zero Carbon policy, strategy and an Action Plan and will be responsible for the monitoring and reporting of progress towards the implementation of the Diocesan Net Zero Carbon Action Plan.

• Recruit, support, train and encourage local volunteers from the host parish and across the deanery to grow mission and ministry with children and their families - particularly with those not yet engaged in their local church community.
• Develop and resource a youth group in the local parish church, and a Messy Church worshipping community.
• Bring to life new volunteer-led initiatives for engaging children and their families with their local church community.
• Catalyse the launch and ongoing development of a new intergenerational worshipping community in the wider deanery, with support from an existing Children and Families Mission Enabler (CFME) and local stakeholders.
• Identify and enable ways in which volunteers from across the deanery could work together fruitfully.
• Identify training needs for volunteers in collaboration with the diocesan Flex Pathway.
• Support and model a culture where children and families are integrated throughout the church and community and where children of all ages are valued and given opportunities to share in ministry and mission.
• Work with the Area Dean to understand potential opportunities in the deanery and identify which parishes will most benefit from CFM support.
• Meet regularly for reflection and supervision with the local supervisor, and line management from the Mission Support Developer CFME.
• Manage the delivery of the CFM project within the parish and deanery and be responsible for gathering and delivering feedback and evaluation, updating plans and communicating clearly with all key stakeholders.
• Participate in a relational and learning community with the existing CFMEs from across CofE Birmingham.
• Uphold high safeguarding standards, supported by the CofE Birmingham safeguarding team.
• Contribute to parish, deanery and diocesan life in other ways as agreed with your line manager, Mission Support Developer CFME.

The Role of Safeguarding Administrator

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Coventry Diocesan Safeguarding team as a Safeguarding Administrator. 

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully with a range of stakeholders. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written will be key, as well as working collaboratively within a team.

The main responsibilities of the Safeguarding Administrator are:

• To provide effective and efficient administrative and logical support to the diocesan safeguarding team ensuring that all systems contribute to the delivery of high-quality service and the smooth running of the diocesan safeguarding teams work.
• Overseeing the team’s diary management, booking internal and external meetings
• Minute taking meetings including safeguarding meetings
• Screening calls and emails for the diocesan safeguarding team from a range of stake holders including those who may have vulnerabilities, using your initiative to respond to enquiries, delegate safeguarding referrals to the relevant members of the team
• Maintain and update relevant databases and recording systems, ensuring accurate records
• Be responsible for DBS administration of Parish Safeguarding Officers
• Developing knowledge of safeguarding policy to advise appropriately on matters relating to general parish safeguarding such as safer recruitment, training and parish dashboard
• Provide general administrative support, as deemed appropriate by the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor
