Job Description

The Permanent Part Time (0.6) Head of Finance is a core member of the organisation's structure and is a strategic partner to the Director of Operations on all areas of finance. Responsibilities will include:

 

Run the accounting functions

• Manage payment runs and other banking.
• Manage payroll, pension and staff benefits as required.
• Administer investments and banking.
• Cashflow Management.
• Finance app management inc. Xero, ApprovalMax

Management accounts and planning

• Produce management accounts.
• Analyse trends and variances, and other analysis as required.
• Model company finances including budgets and 3-year business plan.

Compliance

• Manage VAT, corporation tax, and tax planning.
• Generate and review accounting and compliance policies.
• Work with auditors throughout the year as required.
• Implement and manage spending and authorisation controls.

The Successful Applicant

• Fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, ICAEW etc)
• 5+ years PQE
• Can demonstrate working independently and as finance lead with board responsibilities. (Experience in a SME preferable)
• May suit fractional or part-time (3 days/week). Flexible working possible.

Legal Counsel

The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Legal counsel to join their team in finance and operations department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.   

As a Legal counsel with Clean Air Fund you would help to work closely with CAF’s Senior Leadership Team to ensure CAF complies with its required legal and funder obligations and to advise on all CAF contracts which primarily constitute grants. The role brings legal expertise to offer expert solution-focused input across a wide range of issues to ensure that as CAF grows rapidly and robustly. 

To be successful in this role you will have:

• UK qualified solicitor 
• Experience in drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on contracts with a range of external stakeholders

An opportunity to lead the smooth running of the day-to-day operational finance function and oversee the financial planning and analysis process of a Trust.

What will you be doing?
As a Financial Controller you will lead and manage the finance team, ensuring high levels of customer service, accuracy, and reliability.  You will lead on recruitment, induction, and appraisal of designated staff, providing effective communication, training, and mentoring to enable staff to carry out duties.

You will also deputise for the CFO as and when required and be responsible for overseeing the financial administration related to purchasing, payments, banking, sales and income processing financial transactions.You will also play a lead role in the year end audit and production of financial statements.

You will be responsible for reviewing and quality assuring the management accounts and budget forecasting function of the Trust, ensuring management accounts and budgets are produced in a reliable, timely and accurate manner as they form the basis of decision making. You will ensure consolidated returns are accurate and completed and submitted timely to external bodies including DfE Returns, TPS audit, VAT and other HMRC returns etc.

What you need to offer:

This is a Financial Controller role so we would expect candidates to possess a recognised CCAB accountancy qualification, but we are open as to whether this would be ACA / CIMA / ACCA or CIPFA and this will run alongside previous experience within a similar role.

In addition, we are looking for someone with experience of leading a team, who has also successfully implemented, reviewed and developed systems and processes that support a finance function.

You will need extensive experience working in financial management,  demonstrable expertise in the completion of financial reports and ability to complete core transactional work alongside strategic level responsibilities.  Most importantly as a Financial Controller you will have experience of consolidating accounts and managing financial risks.

ROLE PURPOSE
The Programme Support Officer (full-time, fixed-term contract for 18 months, with possibility to extend) will join the expanding Sector Improvement Team. They will provide vital logistical, financial and administrative support and coordination required to successfully run and deliver the University Mental Health Charter Programme and Award, achieve the Sector Improvement Team’s key objectives, and contribute to the whole charity’s mission and goals. This is an exciting opportunity to help the team scale the University Mental Health Charter, with the potential to impact 2.5 million staff and students across the UK.

From booking travel and accommodation, holding responsibility for the planning and administration of the Purchase Order sheets, to liaising with the many stakeholders involved in the assessment and programme processes, you will have an opportunity to be involved in an interesting, fast paced and exciting role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Logistical support

• Provide effective logistical and administrative support to the Sector Improvement Programme(s), working closely with the Sector Improvement Lead and Programme Managers to ensure the successful delivery of the programmes
• Support the the planning and delivery of key Sector Improvement Programme activities including online and in-person events, handling the administrative and logistical tasks e.g. venue booking and travel arrangements
• Support the Charter Award Process by managing logistics for assessors during Award site visits and handling related bookings
• Use of our Project Management tools to set and receive work, manage deadlines and workflows alongside colleagues to complete projects and Programmes in a timely manner, ensuring high quality of work

Financial support

• Assist in onboarding the University Mental Health Charter Programme by managing administrative tasks such as purchase orders and processing documents (e.g. MOUs, new supplier forms etc.) and outstanding payments
• Administer finances for our Sector Improvement programmes; issuing purchase orders and ensuring timely payments
• Work with finance colleagues to ensure correct processes and procedures are followed accurately and compliant with finance requirements, and identify areas for process improvement
• Act as a cardholder for the team, making online purchases such as accommodation and travel bookings and following policies, procedures and guidance in the correct and responsible use of the Student Minds card

Data and process administration

• Administer data processes for the University Mental Health Charter Programme and Award process, in line with Data Protection Guidelines
• Collate and analyse evaluation data from Sector Improvement events (online and in person), generating timely reports and make recommendations for programme improvement
• Create essential documents requested by the Sector Improvement Programme team to support programme delivery and scalability
• Provide support to the Sector Improvement Team and Award Managers to enable efficient Award Assessment accreditation processes
• Maintain key working relationships with our network of Assessors and University Award Leads, addressing queries, scheduling and minuting award panels, sharing actions with the team

Working together

• Work closely with the Programme Liaison Officer to successfully deliver all aspects of the role, including managing university relationships, ensuring tasks are picked between roles and when required
• Attend programme-related meetings, and maintain communications with programme participants and key stakeholders through maintaining and use of up-to-date database(s)
• Actively participate in the testing and embedding of new digital systems to improve programme efficiency and engagement
• Stay updated on developments in Higher Education and gather insights from sector partners to feed into team decisions
• Look for opportunities to develop systems and processes to improve ways of working and participate in discussions on the Sector Improvement Team development and improvement

Other duties

• Such other duties as may be reasonably prescribed by the organisation, appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of this post
• Attend regular team meetings with the Student Minds team and colleagues throughout the year as required
• Ensure compliance with Student Minds’ internal procedures and all external legal requirements

This is a new role, reporting to the Financial Controller, which will lead a high-performing team of 4, and manage the statutory returns, external financial audits, financial reporting, and the balance sheet. 1. Work with the Chief Executive and Grants Funding Manager to match potential funders to forthcoming programmes.  

2. Write applications to a selection of potential funders, developing relationships with grants managers.

5. Design data collection tools such as questionnaires, write and update monitoring and evaluation resources for our youth work team.  

6. Analyse data and write into easy-to-understand reports.  

7. Participate in budget meetings with the Programme Team and Finance Manager to ensure programme budgets are met.  

8. Develop strong relationships with our partner organisations, collaborating on shared projects and attending meetings. 

9. Take the lead role in ensuring the youthwork database (Plinth) is maintained and kept up to date, and reports are produced for CE and trustees. 

10. Support the Fundraising Team on fundraising activities where necessary. 

The job is not limited to the above duties, as the organisation develops and at different times of the year the priorities may shift leading to additional reasonable responsibilities as the role requires.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Finance professional to fulfil a key Finance Business Partner role supporting the Fundraising and Communications, Advocacy, and Activism (CAA) directorates at Mencap. This role will help deliver high quality insight and financial management which informs decision-making and helps to ensure maximum impact from our fundraising income. 

As the Finance Business Partner for Fundraising and CAA you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient utilisation of financial resources to maximise fundraising returns and ensure efficient spend which is aligned to strategic objectives. NB. This is a full time 12-month FTC position.

There is flexibility around where the role is based. We have large offices in London and Peterborough and smaller offices located throughout the UK and you may need occasional travel to for meetings. However, this role will primarily be working remotely.

JOB SUMMARY:

• Multi-faceted position encompassing all aspects of financial bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable and management accounting.
• Provides accurate and up-to-date financial information to support the Consultant Finance Director and the CEO, ensuring all agreed accounting procedures and financial controls are followed.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages accounts payable and receivable processes in timely fashion, ensuring accuracy.
• Ensures correct coding and prepares journals.

Qualifications

• Relevant Finance degree level education or qualified by experience.
• AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable.

• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in management accounting roles with excellent knowledge of general accounting techniques
• Worked in a small finance department or stand-alone role, ideally within a small to medium-sized charity.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office. Experience with Xero software preferred.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the National Housing Federation (NHF) for a Policy Leader (Finance Policy).

The NHF is the voice of housing associations in England. We are the trade body to almost 600 housing associations, who have grown from philanthropic roots to provide 2.6 million homes to around 6 million people.

This role is a crucial and exciting one within our policy team and the wider organisation. You will use your knowledge and understanding of housing associations and their finances to build strong relationships with Finance Directors across our membership, and use their and your specialist knowledge to shape the financial environment so that housing associations can best deliver on their social purpose.

Whether this is making a persuasive and evidence-based case to the government for additional grant funding to build new homes, or working with sector experts on the detail of accounting, pensions, tax or treasury policy, or meeting with banks, lenders, ratings agencies, UK Finance, HMRC, and the Treasury on behalf of our members, this role is central to our work influencing national social housing policy.

This a rare and exciting opportunity to join Hubbub’s leadership team. Our new Director of Finance will take a proactive role in ensuring the continued financial strength of the organisation, following a period of significant growth.

You’ll be responsible for leading the finance team and providing expert financial and business advice to the team and boards. You’ll be the one making sure that financial implications are fully considered in all strategic decision-making.
