The Director of Development will architect and steer a complete fundraising strategy that amplifies the Theatres’ financial resilience and propels its strategic ambitions in line with the current Strategic Plan 2024-2029. The postholder will cultivate and deepen relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders including donors, sponsors and partners and will personally work with the Theatre’s most committed donors. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will innovate within fundraising campaigns and use their skills in major donor fundraising to expand the Theatre’s financial base.
The best person for this position will be able to demonstrate a track record of securing significant funding within the UK arts sector and will enjoy realising ambitious fundraising strategies that have advanced an organisation’s mission. You will have a history of leading fundraising teams and of working as a collaborative, compelling leadership voice across an organisation.

We are seeking a creative high value fundraiser who will lead the strategic growth and innovation of the Friends and Patrons programmes. Established 6 years ago, the schemes have seen impressive growth and now bring in almost £1million per year. There is still huge potential for development, expansion and innovation.
You will be an ambitious individual with a background in managing mid- and high-value membership schemes. With a focus on stewardship, cultivation events, and collaboration with the rest of the Philanthropy team, you’ll drive engagement and uplift donors.
As Friends and Patrons Manager, you will:
- Lead the strategic development of the Friends and Patrons programme, with a focus on innovation and driving growth
- Oversee the stewardship journeys of Friends and Patrons (£55 to £20,000), with a portfolio of your own donors giving at the higher level
- Responsible for day to day management of the Royal Albert Hall America Patron Scheme
- Work with the Executive Events Manager to deliver an engaging programme of cultivation and recruitment events
- Work closely with the rest of the Philanthropy team to identify opportunities to uplift donors and secure major gifts
- Provide leadership and support to the Friends and Patrons Officer and the Friends and Patrons Coordinator
Ideal skills and experience:
- Demonstrable experience of managing and developing mid and high value patron schemes, donor giving circles or equivalent

Maximising the value and contribution of supporters is fundamental to Parkinson’s UK; building networks, understanding what motivates their supporters, and aligning programmes to their charitable interests is key to the charity’s growth plans for Major Gifts. This role will be critical to leading the philanthropy, trust and statutory, special events and prospect research and insights teams (approximately 18 people) and working with colleagues and leaders across the charity to identify prospects and opportunities to give at a transformational level. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in major gifts fundraising and a proven track record of securing large gifts. They will also have experience of managing a large annual income target and driving continued growth and ensuring targets are met. The role
This crucial role will help to strategically grow and develop our income and awareness. As part of the Senior Management Team, you will report directly to the charity’s CEO, have key Trustee relationships with the Chair and Fundraising lead Trustee, and build collaborative relationships with the senior staff and clinicians across St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
You will build and lead the fundraising and communications team, both strategically and operationally, whilst managing them through a period of change. The Philanthropy team at the Royal Marsden works with the Charity’s most generous individual supporters, connecting them to the projects they are most passionate about and ensuring a truly exceptional supporter experience. The Senior Philanthropy Manager will manage a portfolio of existing major donors to secure 6 and 7 figure donations. They will play a significant part in the Charity’s upcoming Capital Appeal, managing key Appeal Board relationships and working closely with senior internal stakeholders to explore new networks, facilitate introductions and secure gifts.
Key duties include:
- Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and senior hospital colleagues to develop strategic and personalised solicitation and stewardship plans to develop a broad portfolio of donors and prospects in the UK and abroad.
- Identify and build new relationships with individuals with a focus on securing six and seven figure donations in line with agreed targets.
- Lead on the management of senior volunteer relationships to map and identify potential donors and ensure the most effective stewardship.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the team’s Major Gift strategy.
- Line manage a Philanthropy Executive, ensuring they are well supported with day to day tasks, wider objectives and personal development.
We’re looking for the following skills & experience for this role:
- Extensive major gift fundraising experience, with a strong track record of success and involvement in securing 6-7 figure gifts, either individually or as part of a team.
- An outstanding track record and aptitude for high-value acquisition.
- Experience in identifying, recruiting and managing senior volunteers.
- Significant experience of managing successful relationships with high net worth donors, board members, VIPs and ambassadors.
- A background in fundraising for a major capital project or high-profile appeal.

We are looking for a part time Senior Fundraising Officer for an inspiring medical charity, to focus on growing income from the existing donor database in order to develop mid-level and High Net Worth Individuals programmes.
The Charity
A small, passionate charity dedicated to supporting individuals and their families who are in serious hardship due to age, illness, injury or bereavement. Based in South West London, Hybrid working with an option to work from home one day a week. They offer a great training budget for staff development.
The Role
Work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to implement donor segmentation, build on supporter stewardship and appeal strategies for mid-level and high value individuals.
Identify potential major donors and approach them for support in an appropriate and GDPR compliant manner.
Produce compelling written funding proposals, give verbal presentations and make face to face asks as part of donor solicitation.
Support with the creation and implementation of a legacy and in memory strategy.
The Candidate
Ability to think strategically to identify potential donors, prioritise efforts and develop effective fundraising strategies, including analysing data, assessing donor potential and adapting approaches based on feedback and results.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain donor relationships and understand donor motivations and interests.
Strong written skills with an ability to craft compelling and personalised proposals, with a meticulous attention to detail.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
