- Responsible for legacy income of between £2.5-3 million a year

About the role
As the Senior Philanthropy Lead at Bookmark, you will work with the Head of Fundraising to manage and grow our philanthropy portfolio within the wider strategy. You will lead a team of three to deliver on the fundraising strategy, line managing both the Philanthropy Manager and Senior Fundraising Executive. Your role will involve proactively researching and identifying new potential Bookmark major donors and working with trustees, staff, and the Partnerships Board to build a robust pipeline of supporters and secure introductions.
You will own and build a portfolio of new major donors through the full donor cycle who give £25,000 or more, ensuring a first-class cultivation and stewardship journey. You will create compelling, relevant, and tailored funding proposals, reports, and collateral to inspire and inform donors, reflecting Bookmark's strong brand. About you
To be successful in this role, you must have a successful track record in high-value fundraising and acquisition, including a proven track record of securing five or six-figure gifts to meet or exceed targets. You must have experience line managing individuals, nurturing their development, and managing their performance to achieve results. Ideally, you will have experience developing and managing a calendar of successful charity events that meet fundraising targets and managing or working with a fundraising board or high-value committee. We are looking for a part time Senior Fundraising Officer for an inspiring medical charity, to focus on growing income from the existing donor database in order to develop mid-level and High Net Worth Individuals programmes.
The Charity
A small, passionate charity dedicated to supporting individuals and their families who are in serious hardship due to age, illness, injury or bereavement. Based in South West London, Hybrid working with an option to work from home one day a week. They offer a great training budget for staff development.
The Role
Work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to implement donor segmentation, build on supporter stewardship and appeal strategies for mid-level and high value individuals.
Identify potential major donors and approach them for support in an appropriate and GDPR compliant manner.
Produce compelling written funding proposals, give verbal presentations and make face to face asks as part of donor solicitation.
Support with the creation and implementation of a legacy and in memory strategy.
The Candidate
Ability to think strategically to identify potential donors, prioritise efforts and develop effective fundraising strategies, including analysing data, assessing donor potential and adapting approaches based on feedback and results.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain donor relationships and understand donor motivations and interests.
Strong written skills with an ability to craft compelling and personalised proposals, with a meticulous attention to detail.

As Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, you will be responsible for the overall fundraising of the charity and lead the development of the philanthropy programme to build and maintain a sustainable pipeline of supporters across trusts, major donors and corporates. You will lead one person who will support you with administration and prospect research. This organisation are well-networked so you will be attending events and raising the profile of the charity.
You will need:
- Experience in high-value fundraising, with a strong relationship-focused approach
- Experience of developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies
- A collaborative team player with a hands on approach
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
Location: Hybrid - 3 days minimum in the office
