Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, the Financial Accountant will develop and support a first-class internal financial accounting function. You will be responsible for delivering high quality financial and statutory accounts, ensuring internal controls are adequate with all processes, procedures and policies followed.

Key areas of responsibility:

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for:

- Managing the Financial Transactions Team which is responsible for all financial transactions excluding payroll.
- Ensuring there are adequate controls for all transactional procedures.
- Ensuring accurate financial records are maintained.
- Producing monthly management reports for internal and external use.
- Taking a leading role in the production of the Association`s statutory accounts, the annual external audit process and timetable.
- Act as lead on the Association`s insurance.
- Managing and reporting on day-to-day cash flow

About you:

Do you have the following knowledge, skills and abilities?

- Qualified CCAB accountant.
- Experience of building high-performing finance teams.
- Highly proficient and experienced in financial accounting and reporting including external statutory reporting and audit.
- Working with external financial bodies, such as banks, HMRC, pension and insurance providers and other agencies
- Proven ability for implementing and monitoring financial controls.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.

Harrow Carers work in Partnership with Age UK Hillingdon, Harrow & Brent to deliver a Discharge Support Service in Northwick Park Hospital and we are looking to recruit a Service Coordinator to help us in supporting vulnerable older people in Harrow and Brent who have been in hospital and are now ready for discharge. The service delivers transport home, settle in visits, follow up and community support.

The Service Coordinator will act as the point of contact for the Hospital Discharge and ward teams for referrals. The Service Coordinator will then coordinate the support workers and volunteers to deliver the service - and will be part of the delivery themselves. 

A key part of the role will be to ensure there is good communication with patients and clinicians. You will also need to monitor delivery, oversee record keeping and ensure service quality. 

Please note there is no personal or clinicial care involved in this role.

• Must hold a UK driving licence

Salary: £37,181 per annum (plus £5,023 London Weighting allowance if working from the London Office)

Part of our Equity, Inclusion & Culture Directorate, the Volunteering team is passionate about the positive impacts of volunteering for both individuals and organisations. Collaborative and supportive, we believe that volunteers are a vital part of our growing movement for change. We support the mobilisation of volunteer’s to deliver Shelter’s strategic priorities and provide the infrastructure and insight that enables that mobilisation.

We’re a fast-moving team, working to support corporate volunteering operations and develop innovative ways to involve corporate volunteers that allows us to tap into their skills, expertise and time.

Corporate Volunteering is key to helping us win and maintain high value partnerships. We have successfully developed and extended long-term, sector-leading partnerships with companies including HSBC UK, B&Q, M&S and Network Rail across England and Scotland. These partnerships are an essential part of Shelter’s income and we work closely with the Corporate Partnerships Team to do this.

About the role 

This is an exciting role within the Volunteering Team. Your challenge will be to lead on the co-ordination and development of a meaningful, engaging and impactful corporate volunteering programme that delivers excellent volunteering experiences.

We’ll rely on you to effectively manage volunteering activities across our corporate partnerships. That will involve proactively leading work programmes and collaborating with colleagues across Shelter. The role involves working closely with our Corporate Partnerships Team – which is part of the High Value Partnerships department. They’re responsible for generating income by securing new corporate partnerships and managing and developing long term partnerships, the success of which is underpinned by volunteering opportunities.

Developing new corporate volunteering opportunities that align with our strategy will be important too, and, because we have a large network of stakeholders, you’ll also need to build a number of effective relationships as you actively seek out opportunities to collaborate in order to ensure success. Establishing robust processes and procedures, seeking to continuously improve them and working towards a consistent approach to volunteering at Shelter based on volunteer management good-practice – all are aspects of this interesting and unique role.

About you

With experience of leading the successful development of volunteering projects and solid volunteer management experience, you will be passionate about volunteering, with an excellent understanding of what makes a quality volunteer experience. You will have demonstrable experience of applying best practice principles to volunteering, To succeed, you’ll need experience of using innovative approaches to planning new volunteering activities and the processes that support them.

You’ll be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, including identifying conflicting demands and establishing clear priorities to meet agreed objectives. Your great communication skills include an ability to influence and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders at all levels. What’s more, you’ll be confident creating and delivering high-quality presentations both online and in-person. You’ll be experienced in managing the specific approaches needed when involving corporate volunteers as opposed to non-corporate volunteers.

Introduction to the role

This role will ensure that we are developing partnerships and applying for new funding in line with our business objective and values. We need to ensure that we are maximising our future income potential for new business as well as securing income to continue existing business. This role will work closely with the CEO and other business development colleagues to ensure that TAWS optimises opportunities nationally and regionally as well as across the breadth of the current and future delivery range. You will lead, plan and secure new business in these areas as well as provide line management for a small team of bid writers based nationally.

You will report into the CEO and work closely with senior colleagues across the organisation. You will work in close contact with internal colleagues such as CEO/ business development colleagues/ comms colleagues/ and delivery teams in West Midlands and Essex. Your role will work very closely with head of finance in establishing a clear and reliable pipeline for business opportunities and funding sources going forward.

The main purpose of the role will be to coordinate bids that are effective, well costed, realistic and in line business needs and values, and that we are suitably placed to participate effectively in key partnerships nationally, regionally and locally to ensure that we are able to embed in business areas and build effective partnerships for collaborative larger bids.

Main duties

1. Undertake horizon scanning with the leads of the business development areas to ensure we understand key opportunities and are embedded in key partnerships at a national and local level.
2. Work with colleagues on a joined up business development approach to secure new business and contracts 
3. Increase the number, range, and value of contracts secured in line with our strategic objectives
4.  Build and maintain a range of relevant partnerships to support the winning of new business
5. Maintain up to date market and academic research available on the CRM and other systems within the team

You will report to the Social Media Manager, but this role will support across all of the marketing functions. o Support on organic social media including the creating, scheduling and reporting of content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X and LinkedIn with support from the Social Media Manager.

o Support on the TV appeals, OOH, events and more as needed.

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Young Persons Housing Advisors to join our team based in Hatfield! You will be responsible for providing advice, guidance and support to vulnerable people aged 18-24 years.

You will support vulnerable young people to find or maintain suitable accommodation. This involves setting up and or / sustaining their tenancies thus helping to prevent repeat homelessness. You will provide housing advice and support, including information on the relevant benefits and will assist them to identify other support needs, such as mental health issues.

What will you be doing? 

• Manage a caseload of young people aged 18-24yrs.
• Ensure that all young people work towards an agreed support plan which is regularly reviewed and adapted to ensure that they meet their individual needs and goals.
• Build a professional and trusting relationship with the young people to enable to them to engage with the support and improve their situation and prospects.
• Engage effectively in multi-agency working, developing collaborative relationships and partnerships with relevant staff in a range of agencies to broker and co-ordinate support for young people.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of income related subjects such as benefits, money advice & grants.
• Be hyh’s benefits & money advice specialist, sharing knowledge and providing advice to the teams.
• Take the lead in developing and delivering benefits and/or money advice training.
• Work in partnership with the Catalyst Housing Floating Support staff to provide a consistent service countywide.
• Be ambassador for the charity both internally & externally to further hyh aims whilst protecting and enhancing its reputation.
• Immerse hyh’s values into your professional practice at all times.
• Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with external agencies and partners to ensure we are a provider of choice.
• Actively participate and provide valued contributions in supervision, team meetings and other meetings as appropriate.

The Community Fundraiser plays a vital role in fostering and expanding our network of individual givers and community fundraisers. The position is responsible for:

• Developing and managing relationships with our supporters.
• Signing SafeLives up to a programme of fundraising events.
• Maintaining and growing our supporter base.
• Responding to fundraising opportunities from individuals and corporates.

We will occasionally require you to support with organising events for our high-net-worth individuals. The role is managed by our Trusts and Grants Manager. It was a new role in 2022 and the successful candidate will build on the foundations that have been set over the last year and a half.

You will be the perfect balance of engaging and motivational and a rigorous planning coordinator with exceptional attention to detail. ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Fundraising Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Income and Partnerships Development team. This person will be reporting to the Head of Partnerships and will coordinate all fundraising activities and volunteers from our alumni, sponsor firms and SEO London supporters. This will be a hands-on role that includes project management, teamwork, reporting and a proactive approach to fundraising initiatives. Additionally, responsibilities include the preparation of cases for support for funding applications and providing guidance for proposal drafting. Furthermore, the role involves maintaining and reporting on funding requirements, encompassing impact reports, milestones, and renewals. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Further Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategies: Work closely with the Head of Partnerships to further develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies. Execute fundraising plans to achieve income targets and ensure long-term sustainability.
• Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, government organisations and other donor oganisations. Prepare grant expressions of interest, proposals and applications that effectively communicate the need for our work and SEO London’s mission, programmes, and impact.
• Fundraising Events Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including F1 challenges, Royal Parks Half Marathon and any other fundraising activities. Oversee all aspects of event logistics, marketing, sponsorship, and volunteer coordination.
• Fundraising Volunteers Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer interactions and contributions using excel and other tools. Volunteers to include sponsor firm reps, alumni, our students and other SEO London supporters. Generate reports and analytics to track fundraising progress and campaign effectiveness.
• Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of all funder reporting obligations and milestones, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submissions of reports. Accurately recording and tracking donor contributions, pledges, and grants received.
• Marketing and communication: Work closely with the marketing and communication team to raise awareness of fundraising activities through campaigns on social media and other marketing campaigns. 
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with programmes leads, finance team, marketing  and alumni team, to engage firm volunteers, alumni, students and SEO London staff to have a big splash as to our fundraising activity. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business administration, or a related field. 

Candidates without a degree will be considered if they have at least 2 years relevant and relatable work experience in a similar role. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for applicants who have at least 2 years demonstrable experience in some of the following areas and will be willing to learn and develop others: 

• Experience in fundraising, grant writing or related roles within the nonprofit sector. 
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate and persuasive writing and presentation skills. 
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other software tools such as Salesforce. 
• Knowledge of fundraising best practices, processes, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
