Senior Finance Manager | £55,000 - £64,600 | Permanent | Fully Remote / Home Based

For the UK's largest not-for-profit social enterprise in the employment and social mobility sector, we are recruiting a Senior Finance Manager. This role will provide high quality financial information and analysis to senior managers and external stakeholders supporting decision-making. This is a highly commercial role, which is key in ensuring service quality is maximised, and financial performance targets are achieved. The Senior Finance Manager will lead a team of 4 and will suit someone happy to work fully remotely whilst developing excellent relationships across a large, multi-location organisation.

Main Duties:

• Budgeting and Cost Control - Lead divisional budget setting and forecasting process
• Coordinate monthly key variance summary in financial performance and KPIs for senior management
• Interpret and present complex financial information to non-finance managers, supporting decision-making and improvements to budget and forecast performance
• Financial Reporting - Maintain robust financial controls across the division and coordinate the audit process with the financial reporting team. Preparation of year end accounts, liaising with auditors
• Lead the team to produce external financial returns to funders, dealing with queries
• Financial Analysis - Support business planning process, and short- and medium-term financial targets
• Lead the production of the multi-year financial forecast with the FP&A team

• Lead and develop workflows to ensure month-end processes are robust

The NI is looking for its next Events Officer to oversee the setting up and online booking of a range of events – mainly conferences and dinners – as well as overseeing the subscriptions to its Journal. The role is a busy one and the person recruited with require good experience with events booking CRMs as well as working with volunteers and other team members in a small team.

Responsibilities

Main duties include:

Manage all event bookings administration, including:

o Set up of online booking for events through CRM

o Set up and maintain webpages for each event through CMS adding sponsor logos and additional information as required.

o Ensuring invoices for events are issued and paid, updating any on CRM that were issued manually including sponsorship events

o Ensuring relevant communications such as joining instructions are circulated to attendees

o Issue sponsorship contracts, invoices and monitor payments of same

o Providing support for delivery of events including producing delegate lists, dietary requirements etc

o Liaising with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure all events run smoothly.

Manage the admin and event email inboxes, answering all queries in a timely and professional fashion; forwarding queries to colleagues as appropriate where outside your area of expertise.

Assist in maintaining the CRM to ensure data quality eg by removing duplicates, amending incorrect details, updating information and resolving login issues.

Work closely with the Branch Representatives and the Marketing and Communications Manager to set up all events including paid-for and free-to-attend, plus any external suppliers where necessary.

Manage all journal subscriptions including renewals and responding to subscription enquiries.

Actively recruit new subscribers for Nuclear Future.

Manage credit control for events and journal subscriptions and actively work to manage debtors ensuring all invoices are paid.

Undertake any ad-hoc tasks as directed by the CEO to ensure a smooth-running organisation.

Skills and Experience

Essential

Location: the NI has no office so the successful candidate will work from home. They will be expected to travel to London once a month for team meetings and there may be other very occasional travel around UK as required.

Purpose of role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced tutor who will be able to design and deliver high quality learner-centred teaching, learning and assessment experiences to our adult learners. The role will encompass both the development and delivery of Essential Digital Skills, ICT User Skills and Digital Skills for the workplace qualifications at entry level to level 1, supporting and enhancing the lives of people in the local community.

Duties will include:

-- to work as a member of the Adult Education Team, planning and delivering high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners, ensuring learning objectives are met;

-- to carry out and keep records of initial and diagnostic assessments, identifying areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly;

What is Screen Share? 

Screen Share is a grassroots refugee charity which provides laptops, phones, tablets, data, digital skills to refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. We use the power of volunteering to turn discarded tech into good quality techical tools for refugees to improve their situation on their own terms. We are now launching a laptop refurbishment training programme for refugees in London and are looking for someone to run it and provide ad-hoc technical support to our team of volunteer laptop refurbishers! 

Role overview

Screen Share is looking for a proactive, self-starter and leader to launch a laptop refurbishment training programme for refugees in London, support tech volunteers to remotely refurbish laptops, respond to faults and perceived faults with devices we have provided to service users, and support with sourcing and refurbishing devices.

The postholder will have experience of at least Level 2 laptop repair and an interest in upskilling others in basic laptop refurbishment 

Outcome 1 

Co-design and co-deliver a laptop refurbishment training programme for 40 refugees and asylum seekers in London 

• Co-design a laptop refurbishment training programme for 40 refugees 

• Co-deliver the training programme in London

• Support with the logistics necessary for running a multi-cohort programme

• Create resources for learners and guide them through refurbishment workshops 

Outcome 2 

Respond to reported laptop faults by providing remote support or requesting a return

• Run remote diagnostics with service users whose laptops have developed faults or supposed faults. 

• Make an assessment of whether remote repair is possible or whether return is necessary.

• Engage kindly, patiently, politely and on a trauma-informed basis with service-users.

Outcome 3 

Provide technical support in laptop refurbishment and data destruction for staff, volunteers and prospective laptop donors 

• Be the contact point for tech volunteers and tech trainees who need support with the laptop refurbishment process. 

• Advise prospective tech donors on their data destruction options and best practice.

• Support the Digital Access Project Manager with the technical elements of her role, ensuring the tech volunteers are following the most efficient standardised refurbishment process. 

• Think critically and collaboratively about our existing technical refurbishment process (including software, hardware, peopleware, charityware, and tech disposal),  suggest alternatives to the methods currently used, support their implementation where appropriate and record that process of development. 

• Offer critical reflections on facilitating remote digital skills training.

Lead by example by personally maintaining a steady flow of laptop refurbishment

Organisational Background

The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.

Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for just over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.

Cara Objectives ‘To assist academics who have been, or are, or are at risk of being, subject to discrimination, persecution, suffering or violence on account of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, to relieve needs among them and their dependants and ensure that their specialist knowledge and abilities can continue to be used for the benefit of the public.’

‘To advance education by supporting academics and their educational institutions in countries where their continuing work is at risk or compromised, to ensure that such academics and institutions can continue to fulfil their critical role as educators for the public benefit.’

This is a critical time to join our dedicated and friendly Fellowship Programme team as we expand our capacity to support at-risk academics from the Middle East, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Russia and many other countries.

Part-time Fellowship Programme Assistant Role & Responsibilities

· Produce a weekly list of payments.

· Produce financial paperwork.

· Schedule Fellows’ placement disbursements on SalesForce (SF) – those having simple funding allocations and support the schedule of more complex funding requests when needed.

· Update disbursement details once paid on a weekly basis.

· Input payments made via our Pleo card to SF and link allocations.

· Update details for new grant requests (funding request status, disbursement details, and relevant allocations) and ongoing requests when needed.

· Support management of Fellowship-related grants (English, hardship, mentoring, small grants).

· Create payments and allocations for opportunities on SF once an award letter has been issued.

· Track invoice status and notify colleagues to initiate the invoicing process.

· Send invoice requests to our bookkeeper and update the relevant opportunities and payments on SF.

· Draft invoices when needed.

· Update opportunities and payments on SF for invoice paid/funding received.

· Analyse data for reporting to stakeholders and donors.

We specialise in horticulture, retail and general employability skills. You will support our students to participate fully at the Harington Scheme’s training centres in Highgate and Hornsey or on work experience.
