We are seeking a Support Specialist who will be integral to our mission to help people with a brain tumour to be less isolated, better supported and more confident on their brain tumour journey.
There is flexibility here to suit your needs, preferences and experience. You could work from home, or at our office in Leeds. There is however a preference for geographical location in London, South Wales, Bristol or Liverpool areas.
What’s involved
Working closely with brainstrust’s Director of Services, you will be trained to deliver the Charity’s revered, impartial and impactful coaching and information service for people living with a non-malignant brain tumour, and their families.
You will instil empowerment and control in those living with a non-malignant brain tumour, dramatically improving their wellbeing. You will play a key role in helping us towards our vision to be readily available to as many of the 80,000 people in the UK who are living with a brain tumour, and their caregivers.
You will:
- Continue to grow the impactful community for people with a non-malignant brain tumour through face to face, online, phone and email support, social media engagement and running workshops and events for brain tumour patients and their caregivers.
- Be willing to coach and be coached. Rigorous support and recognised training will be provided.
- Support with ensuring that every non-malignant brain tumour patient and their caregivers work with us to secure the best possible outcome.
- Refer potential fundraising opportunities to relevant members of the brainstrust team to ensure the sustainability of the project.

About the role
We have an amazing and rewarding opportunity to join us at the Alzheimer’s Society as a Dementia Adviser. This integral role is to join us in a Dementia Support pilot project, in collaboration with Barnsley Third Sector Dementia Alliance – organisations in Barnsley who are supporting people affected by dementia to live well in their local community. (Alzheimer’s Society, BIADS, Age UK Barnsley, Crossroads Care, Barnsley Carers Service, Butterflies). The pilot project started in October 2023 and will run until end March 2025.
This is a new and exciting role in supporting the development of a community-based information, advice and guidance service which will work alongside colleagues in Health and Social Care, including Barnsley Memory Assessment and Support Service, and be supported by members of the Third Sector Dementia Alliance, through the provision of wraparound care and support. This is a hugely important role in mapping out the future of services in Barnsley for people living with dementia.
The focus of this role is to identify and respond to the real time gaps in support for people with dementia and/or their families, carers and friends, at points of both pre and post diagnosis. This will involve the provision of practical and emotional support for individuals who would benefit from additional support, information and guidance at each stage of the diagnostic pathway.
The service manages a variety of support needs with referrals for people with differing dementia related needs. This service is open for referrals for younger people being diagnosed with dementia in addition to those people over 65 years of age.
Referrals may be to connect people into their local community for a range of access to support them – e.g. activities, information, day care. We will be providing prompt and effective person-centred solutions, working closely with Barnsley Third Sector Dementia Alliance Members.
You will be working alongside Dementia Adviser colleagues and the Service Manager, and involved in setting the parameters for the service, as we seek to identify needs of those being referred into the service and consider future needs of people affected by dementia in Barnsley.
You will:
- Manage referrals coming into the service via email and or telephone, following internal referral processes
- Work to tight deadlines for initial response and completion of support outcomes with our small but passionate team.
- Provide support on the telephone, online and face-to-face - in the persons home or out in the community across the Barnsley area.
- Support people to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and help them feel in more control of their lives.
- Build relationships with a range of local contacts and network with health and care professionals
- You will be delivering a Dementia Support one to one service, out in the community and working from home.
About you
We are looking for an individual with great time management and interpersonal skills, with an understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. An ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the need for client confidentially is essential to providing a valuable and worthwhile service. Due to the nature of the service, experience of safeguarding would be beneficial.

- Have excellent communication skills as well as strong organisational skills in order to manage your caseload of clients effectively within tight deadlines.

About Thyroid UK
Thyroid UK is a charitable organisation working to inform and support people living with thyroid disorders in the UK and campaigning on their behalf for the right tests to diagnose thyroid disease and to have a choice of treatment options.
The provision of quality information for people with both diagnosed and undiagnosed thyroid disorders is the primary concern of Thyroid UK, and we work effectively in this field through dialogue with NHS departments, networking with other voluntary organisations, and providing services directly to patients. We work to encourage scientific research for the education, alleviation, care, treatment and cure of thyroid disease and seek to influence public health policy for the benefit of people affected.
Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Charity Operations Manager to run the smooth, effective operation of the organisation so we can best support people in the UK living with thyroid disease. This is a management role leading on all operational activities, supporting and working in close collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Salary will be reviewed after an initial 6 month probationary period.
This role involves minimal supervision and is responsible for the day to day running and management of the charity.
General office management:
· General secretarial and administrative support including routine office tasks where needed
· To manage all operational activity of the charity according to the strategic direction provided by the Board of Trustees
· To be responsible for all aspects of staff and volunteer management, including recruitment, training and supervision
· Collaborating with other team members to ensure that information flows effectively
Support the CEO:

About the role
As part of the academy team, you will manage our new healthcare policy and health influencing work; you will use your knowledge and skills to champion best practice, influence the NHS’s national standards and to influence long-term transformational change to help us achieve our strategic goal of a health and care system that works for people living with spinal cord injury.
You will be responsible for the following areas:
- Develop evidence-based policy positions that put lived experience at their centre.
- Analyse a wide range of complex policy issues, by monitoring external environments to identify policy developments as they arise.
- Identify NHS policy developments, to influence, change or support the implementation of, to further our strategic aims.
- Develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders. a) Nationally (e.g. NHSE, NICE, GIRFT, CQC, partners and other charities) to influence national policy and b) regionally (e.g. Spinal Cord Injury Centres, Major Trauma Centres, Integrated Care Boards) to support them to adopt that policy.
- Work closely with our communications, campaigns, and parliamentary team to support the delivery of our strategy.
- Make effective use of Freedom of Information requests to track progress against policy objectives and influence stakeholders.
Other teams within SIA
- Work closely with colleagues in research to ensure breakthroughs and developments are adopted and reflected in our policy positioning.

Join our team as a Communications Officer and be at the heart of sharing inspiring stories from our incredible fundraisers. This role is pivotal in communicating the remarkable efforts of MND Association fundraisers, donors, partners, and supporters, and the impact they have on our work.
Within this role you will inform, inspire, and engage diverse audiences through compelling communications that showcase the profound impact of our community's dedication.
Collaboration is key! You will build strong partnerships across our Fundraising team, ensuring seamless information flow for targeted communications and identify innovative opportunities to spotlight our fundraisers across various media platforms.
You will equip our spokespeople within the Fundraising team with the tools and training needed to champion our cause in the media. From major fundraising events like the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon and London Marathon, to partner and/or VIP gatherings, you'll provide end-to-end communications support including the creation and delivery of comms plans, utilising multiple channels.
And that's not all. You'll liaise with the press and media, cultivating relationships to amplify our fundraising stories both reactively and proactively.
Utilising your creativity, you will produce engaging written content for a variety of audiences and make use of audio and video platforms to share our messages further.
Plus, you'll collaborate closely with our Marketing team to identify and maximise opportunities to promote our core messages and plans around our fundraising activities at relevant Association-led and partner events.
Hybrid Working Expectations: No minimum requirement for weekly office attendance. However, flexibility to attend in-person meetings is essential.

The role
As Head of Insight, you will lead the development of the evidence and insight programme to inform our strategy and support our policy, public affairs and influencing work within the healthcare system. The outputs of the evidence and insight programme will directly inform our strategic and operational objectives to achieve better diagnosis, better care and better lives for everyone affected by Crohn’s and Colitis.
Our evidence and insight programme is helping us to understand more about the breadth of experiences of everyone living with Crohn’s or colitis across the UK including those in diverse communities. You will work with our Evidence and Insight Advisory Board and a range of agencies, partners, researchers, clinicians and stakeholders, including people with lived experience.
The programme includes developing a new dashboard, co-produced with people with lived experience, providing a visual representation of the impact that Crohn’s and Colitis has on people’s lives across health, education, employment and finances.
About you
You will have knowledge and awareness of the UK health environment and be experienced in using health data, research, evidence and insight to influence or communicate with stakeholders.
Although you will not be doing research yourself, you will be contracting agencies and researchers to commission pieces of work and gather data to support the charity in all its activities.
You will have experience of leading teams and managing programmes in the NHS, charity, wider health or research sectors.

We need to support the development of respiratory products and services – and to do so we need to see an increase in the amount invested into respiratory innovation.
Building on our existing relationships, you’ll be responsible for managing and influencing innovation funders and investors to increase investment in respiratory diseases. In the fast-changing space of health innovation, including HealthTech and AI, you will identify opportunities for us to build relationships, influence, develop policy positions and curate potential income-generating partnerships. You will also oversee the development of activities related to supporting innovators as they develop new products and services, providing expert consultancy as part of our Respiratory Insights service.
