The Community Fundraiser plays a vital role in fostering and expanding our network of individual givers and community fundraisers. The position is responsible for:
- Developing and managing relationships with our supporters.
- Signing SafeLives up to a programme of fundraising events.
- Maintaining and growing our supporter base.
- Responding to fundraising opportunities from individuals and corporates.
We will occasionally require you to support with organising events for our high-net-worth individuals. The role is managed by our Trusts and Grants Manager. It was a new role in 2022 and the successful candidate will build on the foundations that have been set over the last year and a half.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity and proactivity to the role – thinking outside the box and finding new ways to grow our supporter base and market our opportunities. You will be the perfect balance of engaging and motivational and a rigorous planning coordinator with exceptional attention to detail. You will help us reach new supporters, through events and fundraising, and communicate our key messages in a way that encourages people to support our work.

My client is a healthcare charity that supports a specialist hospital. As part of the organisation’s ongoing growth plans, they are currently in the process of improving the strength in their financial accounting team and improving their financial systems. This has led to a need to recruit a financial accountant in support of this ambitious plan. As the financial accountant you will work closely with the wider team a well as the finance business partner and head of finance to work on process improvement, and drive the charity forward.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for timely year end process and preparation of the annual consolidated statutory financial and lead statements, including liaising with the charity’s auditors and dealing with audit queries
- Ensuring that all balance sheets accounts are reconciled frequently, and any differences are dealt with accordingly, including bank reconciliations, intercompany, fundraising income and restricted fund reports
- Responsible for Quarterly VAT Returns, management accounts for our Trading subsidiary and the reconciliation of the intercompany account with the Charity
- Support the review and development of financial policies and procedures
- Work alongside the Head of Finance on phase 2 of the finance system implementation change programme
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant, or qualified by experience accountant with a desire to drive change in an organisation including development of the accounting system. The Royal Marsden Cancer charity raises money solely to support the world-famous Royal Marsden, ensuring nurses, doctors and research teams can provide best in class care and life saving treatments in the UK and around the world. The Philanthropy team at the Royal Marsden works with the Charity’s most generous individual supporters, connecting them to the projects they are most passionate about and ensuring a truly exceptional supporter experience. The Senior Philanthropy Manager will manage a portfolio of existing major donors to secure 6 and 7 figure donations. They will play a significant part in the Charity’s upcoming Capital Appeal, managing key Appeal Board relationships and working closely with senior internal stakeholders to explore new networks, facilitate introductions and secure gifts.
Key duties include:
- Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and senior hospital colleagues to develop strategic and personalised solicitation and stewardship plans to develop a broad portfolio of donors and prospects in the UK and abroad.
- Identify and build new relationships with individuals with a focus on securing six and seven figure donations in line with agreed targets.
- Lead on the management of senior volunteer relationships to map and identify potential donors and ensure the most effective stewardship.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the team’s Major Gift strategy.
- Line manage a Philanthropy Executive, ensuring they are well supported with day to day tasks, wider objectives and personal development.
We’re looking for the following skills & experience for this role:
- Extensive major gift fundraising experience, with a strong track record of success and involvement in securing 6-7 figure gifts, either individually or as part of a team.
- An outstanding track record and aptitude for high-value acquisition.
- Experience in identifying, recruiting and managing senior volunteers.
- Significant experience of managing successful relationships with high net worth donors, board members, VIPs and ambassadors.

This is a new role taking full ownership of all strategic and operational elements of the HR function, supporting an organisation of 25 people, reporting directly into our CEO, Richard Bowyer.
The successful candidate will coordinate all elements of the employee lifecycle and ensure the charity is a great place to work by supporting line managers, being the key point of contact for staff welfare, and owning the employee engagement survey process.
They will lead on key HR projects – such as EDI strategy development & rollout, implementation of an HRIS and new payroll provider, and creating a staff handbook.
The HR Business Partner will be a standalone role, overseeing all strategic and operational HR functions including:
- Coordinating all HR administration and processes – across starters, leavers, benefits, payroll, and implementing an HRIS. Improving and streamlining processes.
- Leading on all people related issues, supporting line managers to minimise risk, embrace best practice and make the charity a great place to work.
- Providing strategic guidance and advice to line managers on recruitment & selection and regularly joining interview panels.
- Being the staff welfare lead and owning the employee engagement survey process.
- Maximising the effectiveness of our annual appraisal and personal development process, including sourcing internal and external learning activities.
- Strategic inclusion lead for the organisation, including creating and implementing a new EDI strategy.
- Active member and contributor to the internal Heads of Department leadership group, and leading on people updates to the leadership team.
We are looking for someone that:
- Has proven experience autonomously managing HR administration across the employee lifecycle in a standalone role or small team, with the ability to review, implement and streamline processes.
- Has significant experience in effectively and pragmatically supporting and coaching line managers on a range of people issues.
- Can assess employee learning needs and source effective training and development activities.
- Can lead on our inclusion work, with a passion for EDI within the workplace.
- Can work autonomously and proactively manage a varied workload.
- Has exceptional ‘people-skills’ and is an excellent communicator while being discrete and tactful to sensitive issues.
The ideal candidate will also:
- Be CIPD Level 7 qualified (or in progress).
- Have experience working within the charity sector, with knowledge of topics such as compliance, safeguarding and volunteering.
- Be a confident public speaker – able to present to and/or train groups of up to 30 people.

The digital team at Breast Cancer Now are leading a transformation in how we present our information and services to people affected by breast cancer. We are looking for a digital project manager who will be responsible for the delivery, tracking and communication associated with a number of key cross orgnanisational projects.
