At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young people whose lives are just too short. Our aim is to reach every family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care. Did you know that every year we need to raise £5m to keep our doors open and only around 20 percent of our income comes from government sources? The rest has to be raised through fundraising activity.
Our services include short overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. We also support the whole family from diagnosis with our multi-disciplinary Family Support team who provide counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy and much more. Our care team supports these families in our modern, purpose built building. All our rooms/bedrooms have a homely feel. We have a sensory room, spa pool, cinema room and six acres of gardens.
We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families and staff to use.
The role
As part of re designing our services, we are currently seeking three children’s nurses with post registration experience, to join our In House Care Team. You will be working as part of a supportive team consisting of Team Leads, Nurses and care support workers and allied health professionals. Working as part of a team you will provide a high standard of holistic care and be able to balance opportunities for children to experience play, social interaction and learning alongside managing the diverse nursing needs of the children staying with us.
We are looking for resilient, enthusiastic individuals who want to deliver high quality, evidence based paediatric palliative care.

At East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) we place our patients at the centre of our operation and are in touch with many more people whose lives may have been affected by the service we provide. You will support EAAA patients, and their families post trauma/incident, during their recovery and following bereavement. Facilitating a debrief of their treatment you will explain interventions that took place, translating complex clinical information to assist with their understanding of events and supporting their recovery.
You will support, guide and mentor our Clinical Liaison Officers and ensure our Befriender Volunteers are supported and integrated into the Aftercare Team. Leading our Patient Forum Group, you will organise, facilitate, and chair meetings, producing reports on the group’s activity and outcomes.
A registered Healthcare Professional (Registered Nurse or Paramedic) you will have experience of supporting families in difficult and often tragic circumstances and will have worked with a multi-disciplinary team of Healthcare Professionals.
The role will cover Suffolk and surrounding areas and will involve travel to a variety of sites across the region.

Phyllis Tuckwell is looking to appoint a Registered Nurse with experience in palliative and end of life care who wishes to further develop these skills. The role is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to be supported by the skilled and expert nursing and clinical teams within Phyllis Tuckwell. This fixed term post will consist of an initial 1-month induction on the IPU, followed by a further 2 placements of 9 months each on our In-Patient Unit and with our Hospice Care at Home team. The final month will be an opportunity to consolidate your learning.
The role involves holistic assessment and identification of patient needs, decision making and care planning alongside other MDT colleagues and community partners. It involves strong assessment skills, implementation of a management plan and evaluation to ensure that responsive high-quality, nursing care and support is available for patients, their families, and carers.
The role requires a range of skills and knowledge in palliative care nursing including symptom management, psychological skills, medication administration and management, organisational, leadership and people management skills. Patient, family and carer education, including for patients and professionals within care homes, is also an element of the role.
The successful candidate will have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification in palliative care, will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Their role will have clinical leadership and practice development responsibilities, and the successful applicant will work towards taking an active role in workload management and high-quality care, including patient safety and service improvement.

About the role
Working closely with the Service Director as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Wellbeing and Community Support Service will lead and promote the Wellbeing and Holistic support of staff, volunteers, service users and those close to them, as well as leading local community engagement initiatives and innovations supporting national agenda.
Through their oversight of community engagement, support for service users and families, volunteering and staff and volunteer wellbeing, they will provide strategic oversight of support provided to ensure the charity builds links with local communities to shape services and ways of working that meet the changing needs of those supported in the local community.
Through their experience in either counselling, palliative social work or psychiatry, they will also work with the local MDT to help provide guidance and advice when reviewing patient cases and referrals. They will also be available to provide support with individual crisis or complex patient management where their skills can be used for short term interventions or to identify the most appropriate support for the individual and their families where needed.
About you
You should be an accredited counsellor, social worker or psychiatry professional with experience of working in a healthcare, social care or public health related discipline, working across a multi-disciplinary team.
Additionally, you will need to demonstrate:
- Significant experience working at a Senior Management level in a healthcare/social care environment to include a proven track record in the strategic development of new services.
- Experience of scoping gaps in services in local areas and developing and managing support services in a community setting to fill these gaps.
- Evidence of setting SMART outcomes and measuring impact against those outcomes
- Demonstrable experience delivering supervision for staff and volunteers outside of normal line management.
- Experience of working with a range of diverse communities, developing long term community relationships with local healthcare providers and influential members of the local community.

We are currently recruiting for a Head of Wellbeing and Community Support Services to be based at a Hospice in Peterborough
The Head of Wellbeing and Community Support Service will lead a team who are responsible for helping us to provide more of the support that people need, in more accessible ways, to more communities The Wellbeing and Community Support Service team will be responsible for:
Increasing the reach of hospice support, through improved local community collaboration and co-production
Deliver a range of holistic support which is aligned to the specific needs of the individuals.
Implement local and national initiatives which support the wellbeing of staff and volunteers
Increase wellbeing community based services
About the role
Working closely with the Service Director as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Wellbeing and Community Support Service will lead and promote the Wellbeing and Holistic support of staff, volunteers, service users and those close to them, as well as leading local community engagement initiatives and innovations supporting national agenda.
Through their oversight of community engagement, support for service users and families, volunteering and staff and volunteer wellbeing, they will provide strategic oversight of support provided to ensure the charity builds links with local communities to shape services and ways of working that meet the changing needs of those supported in the local community.
Through their experience in either counselling, palliative social work or psychiatry, they will also work with the local MDT to help provide guidance and advice when reviewing patient cases and referrals. They will also be available to provide support with individual crisis or complex patient management where their skills can be used for short term interventions or to identify the most appropriate support for the individual and their families where needed.
About you
You should be an accredited counsellor, social worker or psychiatry professional with experience of working in a healthcare, social care or public health related discipline, working across a multi-disciplinary team.
Additionally, you will need to demonstrate:
Significant experience working at a Senior Management level in a healthcare/social care environment to include a proven track record in the strategic development of new services.
Experience of scoping gaps in services in local areas and developing and managing support services in a community setting to fill these gaps.
Evidence of setting SMART outcomes and measuring impact against those outcomes
Demonstrable experience delivering supervision for staff and volunteers outside of normal line management.
Experience of working with a range of diverse communities, developing long term community relationships with local healthcare providers and influential members of the local community.
Knowledge and experience of safeguarding
Experience of managing teams and budgets to include volunteering services
