Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
We currently have around 90 staff based in England, Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland.

There are huge challenges facing bowel cancer patients across the UK, and our community needs us now more than ever. We’re looking for an experienced and proactive online community professional to join our friendly and supportive Peer Support team. This role is part of our peer support services team and will be responsible for supporting our online peer support communities, including our forum and Facebook groups.
The post holder will work directly with the Peer Support Manager and the Senior Online Communities Officer, as well as with colleagues from across the charity to develop our online communities, helping us to reach and support more people affected by bowel cancer and those concerned about symptoms, risk and pre-diagnosis.

The role
As Events Fundraiser you will manage and develop myaware’s events portfolio and support in aid of fundraisers. You will also be responsible for managing fundraising volunteers and volunteer fundraising groups. Own transport is essential for this role as occasional travel throughout the UK will be required. There may be the need to occasionally work during weekends and evenings and therefore there is a need to work flexibly when required.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year experience gained in a fundraising role within a charity, with demonstrable experience of income growth and the ability to meet and exceed income targets. Experience of working with and managing volunteers is essential.
We are a looking for an innovative self-starter to join our small national team of 16 staff. You must be well organised and efficient, with IT skills and experience of using a work-related database or CRM system. Who are we?
Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia.
We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition.
We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors.
Members of myaware have full access to a wide range of support services and events including our specialist benefits and welfare advisor.
Myaware supports people with myasthenia and their families. We campaign for better medical services for people with myasthenia and work to inform medical professionals.
The myasthenias are a group of neuromuscular conditions. They are rare but also manageable and can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or nationality. Myasthenia gravis, ocular myasthenia and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome are autoimmune conditions whereas congenital myasthenic syndrome is caused by an inherited genetic fault. It is thought that there are approximately 20,000 people currently living with myasthenia in the UK.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.
We are a very ambitious organisation which has gone through transformational growth over the past five years. Alongside funding an existing programme of world-leading research, treatment and care, the Charity has recently completed its largest capital appeal to date, successfully raising £70 million to build the Oak Cancer Centre at the hospital’s Sutton site.
The role is primarily responsible for ensuring the integrity of the monthly financial reporting to trial balance and producing the statutory accounts for the Charity and Trading Subsidiary. It also includes supporting the management and continuous development of the finance systems and processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Management of year end audit and production of statutory accounts including liaison with auditors, dealing with queries and management of the year end timetable.
- Completion of a timely month end process to trial balance stage, which includes a review of our monthly nominal activity report before month end close
- Ensuring that all balance sheets accounts are reconciled monthly, and any differences are dealt with accordingly, including bank reconciliations, intercompany, fundraising income and restricted fund reports
- Responsible for Quarterly VAT Returns, management accounts for our Trading subsidiary and the reconciliation of the intercompany account with the Charity
- Processing of monthly journals including income and expenditure accruals, prepayments, quarterly depreciation, recharges and grant reporting
- Support the review and development of financial policies and procedures
- Work with the Head of Grants and Financial Controller of the Trust to ensure accurate cashflow forecasting for the Charity
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified or qualified by experience accountant with a desire to drive change in an organisation. Additional skills include highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise and work across different teams.

- Fluent in south Asian languages mainly Urdu, (but it will be a bonus if you are also able to speak either of the following: Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi)

About the role
As an Operations and Planning Officer at British Heart Foundation (BHF) you’ll play a vital role in supporting the strategic planning, operational monitoring and reporting of activities across our medical team.
You’ll support the three key areas of our operations team: portfolio and planning, operations, and culture and engagement. You’ll be given exposure to a breadth of activities, including our portfolio management, where embedding a culture of project management and clear planning and prioritisation processes are key.
You’ll also work closely with the Operations Manager to support on the operationalisation of key business processes and initiatives, as well as provide support to meetings and forums for communication and engagement including Directorate initiatives such as the culture forum.
There will be opportunities for growth across all three areas but particularly in relation to project management and continuous improvement.

Working arrangements
Please note this is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.
At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. About you
With knowledge of administrative procedures, project coordination, reporting and information analysis, you’ll have previous experience of setting up and co-ordinating meetings, as well as writing reports and creating PowerPoint presentations.
Highly organised, with solid project and time management skills, you’ll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build strong relationships with stakeholders from across the medical team, and wider organisation, and be able to negotiate and influence across varying levels within an organisation.
With excellent collaboration skills, able to work effectively with a diverse group of colleagues across the organisation, you’ll be a keen problem solver who takes initiative, is solution focused and takes a proactive approach with the ability to develop practical and workable solutions.
