MumsAid is an award-winning, small but growing charity. Following our successful application to the Propel fund, we are now recruiting an Operations & Programmes Manager who will lead delivery of a new long-term systems change programme supporting young mothers, whilst also providing operational leadership across the organisation to support our development.

You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with our CEO and other senior colleagues to ensure excellent project delivery and strong organisational foundations that support our growth.

The Opportunity

This is a chance to build something from the ground up.

As our first dedicated HR Manager, you will establish and shape our HR function, creating the processes, systems, and culture that will support our growth. You will be the go-to person for everything people-related: day-to-day ER casework, leading our digital HR transformation, onboarding new colleagues, and supporting the leadership team through change.

It is a hands-on, varied role. You will need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves one moment and advising senior leaders the next. You will be given the space, trust, and support to make this role your own.

What You Will Do

Build and lead our HR function

• Establish and maintain HR policies, procedures, and processes that reflect our values and meet our legal obligations
• Be the first point of contact for all people matters across the organisation
• Work closely with the Head of Service Operations and leadership team to align our people approach with our growth plans

Own the employee lifecycle

• Manage end-to-end HR processes: attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, and offboarding
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records and ensure we are compliant at every stage
• Lead on DBS checks, right-to-work verification, and pre-employment processes in line with CQC and safeguarding requirements

Drive our digital HR transformation

• Lead the implementation and ongoing management of our new HRIS platform
• Help managers and staff get the most from new systems
• Use HR data and reporting to give the leadership team useful, timely insight

Support managers on performance and employee relations

• Be the expert advisor for managers navigating performance, conduct, absence, and well-being
• Ensure all disciplinary and grievance processes follow ACAS codes of practice, keeping things fair and reducing legal risk
• Coach and upskill managers so they can handle people matters with more confidence

Lead on organisational change

• Support or lead TUPE transfers and future organisational change programmes
• Help manage change in a way that is transparent, fair, and true to our values

Champion our culture and workforce development

• Support recruitment that prioritises values alongside skills and experience
• Work with managers to embed solid induction, supervision, and development practices
• Contribute to staff engagement and wellbeing work that reflects who we are

What We Are Looking For

Essential

• CIPD Level 5, qualified or actively working towards it
• Proven experience as an HR generalist covering the full employee lifecycle
• Sound working knowledge of employment law, including ACAS codes of practice
• Experience managing ER cases including disciplinary, grievance, and absence, independently and confidently
• Experience supporting or leading TUPE transfers and organisational change
• Experience implementing or managing an HRIS or HR software platform
• Able to work on your own initiative and manage competing priorities in a standalone role
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to build trust with people at all levels
• Organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling sensitive information with discretion

Desirable

• Experience in adult social care, supported living, or a regulated care environment

In this role, experience of employee relations will be pivotal in supporting the organisation. As a trusted advisor, you will have sound employment law knowledge and be comfortable with challenging conversations, supporting managers with any issues such as sickness absence, holiday queries, capability or a disciplinary procedure. 

You’ll ensure that recruitment costs are kept to a minimum, work with recruitment managers to ensure vacancies are advertised following internal processes and ensure employment contracts are finalised before onboarding starts.  You'll also be confident using IT systems to assign training to new joiners and to existing staff, keeping records of courses and ensuring that safeguarding training is completed.

Role Purpose

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic and operational leadership across all frontline services, accommodation provision, organisational infrastructure, and compliance functions within the charity.

The COO is responsible for ensuring safe, trauma-informed, financially sustainable, and outcomes-focused delivery for individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, health exclusion, addiction, and crisis.

The role leads operations across the charity’s accommodation portfolio, including winter shelter provision, general needs accommodation, supported accommodation, and intensively supported housing. The COO also oversees the operational platform of the charity’s support programmes, including a community café, community supermarket, crisis drop-in provision, and integrated health clinics.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll work closely with managers and colleagues across the organisation, providing practical advice, guidance and support on a wide range of people matters, while helping us continue to build an inclusive and collaborative One Blue Cross culture.

More about the role

As a People & Culture Advisor, you’ll support the delivery of a high quality People service across the organisation. Working alongside the P&C Business Partners, you’ll be supporting managers through both informal and formal employee relations cases, including sickness absence, grievance, disciplinary and capability matters, ensuring these are handled fairly, consistently and in line with policy and best practice.

You’ll also play an important role in supporting volunteer managers across Blue Cross, helping to develop volunteering management solutions and providing support with volunteer systems and processes. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to people projects, management workshops, policy development and reporting, helping to continuously improve the support and services we provide to our people.

About you

You’ll be an approachable and confident HR professional with strong employee relations experience who enjoys building trusted relationships with managers and colleagues. You’ll have strong communication and administration skills, a proactive approach and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Previous experience of working in HR, gained throughout the employee life cycle 
• Experience of advising managers through formal and informal Employee Relations cases including sickness absence, grievance, disciplinary and capability
• Confident in dealing with numbers and experience of analysing and reporting data 
• Excellent interpersonal skills and customer-facing skills 
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal 
• Good attention to detail 
• Great administration skills 
• A proven track record of prioritising and organising work and projects within a busy and multi-functioning role 
• IT literate with MS Office, web-based platforms, and databases 
• The ability to demonstrate, understand and apply our Blue Cross values

What you’ll be doing 

In this role, you’ll: 

• Lead for the HR Office on corporate responsibilities including business planning, business continuity, risk management and freedom of information requests.

• Provide administrative support to the HR Office Senior Management Team, including responsibility for management meetings and managing the Diary Secretary to the Director. 

• Oversee the HR Office budgets, including managing the HR Office Admin Network and working closely with the Finance Business Partner on forecasting and end-of-year processes.

What you’ll do

Key details

Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week: usual working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00. Flexible working is possible.

Location: hybrid working (a mixture of onsite and home/remote working). Staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours at our London office (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH)

This international non-profit organisation with headquarters in London, represents national, regional and international associations, as well as leading solar sector corporations. It aims to enable solar energy to deliver on the promise of clean, distributed power, economic development and energy access.

Joining a small, proactive and collaborative team, the People and Culture Officer will work closely with the Operations Lead and CEO as the organisation’s HR expert. Initially, the role will focus on recruitment and onboarding to support the organisation’s strategic growth. Over time, there will be scope to develop the People and Culture function more broadly. The successful candidate will have experience in recruitment, HR administration or people operations, alongside a strong understanding of UK HR and employment practices and a relevant qualification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools is essential, and experience supporting remote or international teams would be advantageous. Experience working within a non-profit, membership or international organisation would also be desirable.

You will bring solid HR experience and confidence, with CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience). Experience within a not-for-profit or scale-up environment would be highly beneficial. Alongside technical expertise, key to success in this role will be strong interpersonal skills, including initiative, proactivity, ownership, accountability, and the ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders.

This role is offered on a three-day-per-week basis, with flexibility around working patterns. It is fully remote, with occasional meetings in Canary Wharf; travel expenses for these will be reimbursed.

This is a key new role at the Chelsea Physic Garden being recruited at a time when the organisation launches its new 10 year strategy, a major capital project and fundraising campaign. We are looking to appoint our first in house Human Resource Manager to support the organisation as it grows.  Based on site at least one of the two days per week, you will work with the senior leadership and recruiting managers to ensure timely recruitment processes, preparing and issuing employment contracts and support robust onboarding and induction processes.  You will work with the Director and leadership team to propose strategies and practices that support organisational talent development, employee engagement and staff retention.  Freelance HR consultancy retained.
