St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity – Director of Income & Engagement
Base: Hybrid working, minimum two days in Central London office.
Salary: Circa £85k per annum.
Contract: Permanent, full-time.
St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity, one of the UK’s leading organisations working to prevent homelessness throughout the UK, is seeking a Director of Income and Engagement to develop and deliver their fundraising, marketing and communications strategy, focused on growing existing revenue streams, as well as introducing new ways to raise funds and increase reach.
St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity exists to try to prevent homelessness. Where it does occur, the organisation supports the delivery of the best possible solutions that enable people experiencing, or about to experience, homelessness to secure and keep a safe place to live. That could mean support through emergency grants to address urgent housing needs, supporting frontline organisations providing access to healthcare, legal advice, and mental health support to help people move on from homelessness.
The charity is now seeking an experienced and transformational leader for this newly created role to lead their fundraising, marketing and communications team and to contribute to the organisation’s strategic and operational planning as a key part of the Leadership Team. The Director of Income & Engagement will also deputise for the Chief Executive Officer where required.
This is a particularly exciting time to join the charity as they build towards their 100th BBC Radio 4 Appeal in 2026, which offers a unique opportunity to develop a dedicated fundraising appeal that builds on the heritage aspects of the St Martin’s association; promotes the SMC charity; looks back at the difference the appeal has made to the lives of people experiencing or at risk from homelessness; and how the need to address homelessness and its root causes today is greater than ever.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record of delivering significant and sustainable net income growth from mass engagement fundraising and of developing and successfully implementing cutting-edge fundraising strategies, encompassing a broad range of fundraising streams and related marketing activity. You will be a collaborative and strategic leader with excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence. You will also have the proven ability to motivate and drive your team and to develop and sustain key stakeholder relationships and partnerships, such as with the BBC and across the St Martin’s network.
