As a Specialist Support Worker, you will provide specialist housing support to customers who have a history of homelessness and rough sleeping as well as social exclusion and/or disorderly lifestyles.

A bit about the role:

You will work with customers who have been housed by Braintree Council into our specialist accommodation services following a period of homelessness, unsettled accommodate or rough sleeping. Therefore, a good knowledge of statutory and community services across Braintree and mid Essex would be great! Some of the key results for the role include: 

• To deliver support and interventions to customers. 
• To engage and encourage customers into treatment, health accommodation services. 
• To enable customers to make informed choices about their lives and better manage their emotional and personal wellbeing. 

This role will require an Enhanced DBS check a UK driver’s licence and access to a vehicle. You will be lone working in and around the Braintree and mid Essex area at our services or in our customers’ accommodation. 

The full-time equivalent salary for this role is £26,045 per annum.

Senior Youth Participation Officer

Fitzrovia Youth in Action is looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic person for our Senior Youth Participation Officer role. If you feel like this is you, we would love to hear from you!

The post holder will coordinate and develop our new young people drop-in programme and additional youth action programmes, aimed at engaging local young people into the work of FYA. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of the drop-in sessions, as well as deliver some youth led social action programmes. The role will include recruiting young people, engaging them in co-producing fun and creative activities and workshops which will take place at the drop-ins, as well as supporting them in planning and delivering the social action programmes.

Typically, sessions will occur Sundays (TBC) and young people from the ages 8 to 18 will attend. We are also planning to start a second drop-in session from September, which is likely to run on a Friday evening.

The post holder will support young people to plan some social action programmes directly, as well as support young people into other youth-led community action programmes at FYA.

Examples of projects include youth-led football tournaments, street parties and festivals and peer education activities.

As our Beyond the Gate Caseworker, you will provide a community-based service that engages, motivates and facilitates those on license to make progress, through a range of one-to-one sessions, group activities, training and supportive measures.  You will work with your caseload of clients to produce individual action plans that support them to overcome social inclusion barriers, including housing, substance misuse, relationships, training, employment, finance debt and benefit, and deliver a range of planned custody and community assessments and interventions that keep clients engaged, motivated, and making progress.

Our Peer Support service will offer both intensive and low key peer support services. You will support people who are going through a difficult time, by sharing your experiences, helping them discover the strengths and developing skills that will lead to wellness. Day-to-day, you’ll work with the support staff, mental health nurses and the people who use our services to develop an inclusive and effective peer support service, offering individual and group support. You will help to contribute to the development of organisational policies, procedures, protocols, systems and guidance to underpin the provision of peer support across the service. Identifying and undertaking training programmes, promoting the service to stakeholders and operating within a fully compliant service to agreed budgets – all are part and parcel of this challenging role.

Outreach Worker, 25 hours per week, £22,020 per annum, pro-rata Doncaster - Fixed term to end March 2025 (with potential for 2-year extension)

We’re looking for a family focused Outreach Worker to help transform the lives of parents and young children in Doncaster.

Working as part of a small team you’ll support families with children aged between 0 and 5 to address emerging worries, build resilience and improve the longer-term outcomes of young children.

Based in local Family Hubs, you’ll connect parents with local services designed to help their child thrive. This will include targeted support from Family Lives and the full range of early years services available from Doncaster Family Hubs and local community organisations.

Working closely with our Senior Family Support Coordinator and a small team of volunteers, you will provide support in promoting the service with local schools, Family Hubs and children’s centres. Engagement of parents and caregivers will be a key part of this role, linked to developing relationships with key local agencies to identify who may benefit from the project.

Travel within Doncaster will be required but some home-based working is possible.  The hours can be flexibly worked across the week.

You will have excellent communication skills, understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children, as well as a commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.

Why Access Social Care Exists 

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point. 

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account. But most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 77% drop in community care legal aid cases since 2010 means we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken. 

What we do 

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it. 
With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers and barristers ensure fair access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded, and we all get the support we need. 

About the role 

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have nearly tripled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. 

We are looking for someone with excellent people skills to play a key role in developing and piloting an approach to support people to engage with and use our on-line Social Care early legal help tool. Initially, this project will be focused on how to support carers who have multiple barriers to accessing the support they and the person they care for need.

We want to pilot a network of Peer Navigators who will act as an interface between the tool and people who are most underserved by social care and advice services and experience intersectionality of barriers. The role would particularly suit someone who has experience of the social care system as a family carer or disabled person and/or someone who has experienced barriers to accessing services due to other protected characteristics. 

The role is new and will initially focus on working within our place-based Hubs of Croydon and Gloucestershire. The role will require a creative person who can work in partnership with other members of the team, people with lived experience of social care support and social care organisations.  They will need to develop a set of policies and procedures for the delivery of the project and recruit, train and supervise the Peer Navigators.

To be a success in this role, you should be an excellent team worker, communicator, proactive, flexible, excellent people skills, highly organised and able to meet deadlines. You should also have a thorough understanding of co-production.

Responsibilities 

• With Hubs manager, Hub team members and people with lived experience – refine the aims of the project and identify priorities 

• Develop and implement a project plan for delivery of the project 

• Develop a role description for the Peer Navigators 

• Identify and test different options for advertising and recruiting Peer Navigators 

• Train Peer Navigators in the Care Act and use of the chatbot 

• Develop guidance on how people can seek advice about their employment and benefit status in relation to fulfilling the role 

• Develop and run an appropriate supervision process to ensure good quality support is offered 

• Arrange further training as chatbot develops 

• Set up and run Peer Navigator team meetings to ensure they feel supported, and we learn from their experiences 

• Devise a monitoring and evaluation framework and set up proformas for peer navigators to capture outcomes

Details of the role

We welcome applications from people interested in working freelance (1-3 days a week) or employed full-time or part-time. This role will commence in September 2024; however, an October half-term start date could be agreed upon for the right candidate.

Remuneration

Remuneration for employed roles is between £31,500 and £40,000 pro rata based on experience. A 5% London weighting is included within this bracket, as the role must be based in London.

Freelance delivery rates for the 2024/25 Ambassadors Programme are:

Desk work, feedback and review: £160/day

Facilitation & curriculum design: £195/day

Location

This role will predominantly be conducted in London-based partner schools, requiring the ability to travel regularly. For employees, outside of school delivery the role will be primarily based in our London office, working remotely when appropriate.

There may also be a limited number of residential weeks with young people throughout the year. To fulfil the requirements of this role, there may be occasional in-person touchpoints with the team outside of London, for which reasonable travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed.
