As Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Project Manager, you will play a key role across the College by leading the implementation of our work across the breadth of EDI and paediatrics, whilst championing our commitment to celebrate diversity, challenging inequality, and building an inclusive environment for all.
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Project Manager is a crucial role, as you will lead in overseeing and delivering our cross-College EDI activity to ensure we achieve the pledges, recommendations and actions we have made to our members.
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Projects, you will oversee the delivery of the key actions and areas of work within the ‘Making EDI everybody’s business’ strategic plan, using an analytical and methodical approach to problem solving whilst also using discretion when identifying and proposing solutions to complex issues.
Working closely with various internal and external staff engagement groups to establish, maintain and develop strong working relationships and regular communication with key stakeholders e.g. relevant staff networks, you will also prepare and deliver presentations and write board level papers to enable communication progress on EDI to all levels of the College.
You will also support strategic planning for EDI activity across the College, proposing opportunities for process improvements and developing the delivery of new processes.
Suitably qualified at degree level or equivalent, you will have a demonstrable professional interest in, and exposure to, equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives, along with a proven ability to develop, lead and manage high profile projects to time and on budget, using project management methodology.
With excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, you should be capable of motivating, influencing and gaining the support of others and be able to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships across the organisation. You should also be able to set out and discuss complex issues clearly for a wide audience and to give presentations as required in a fluent and persuasive manner to people at all levels.
The ability to provide matrix management and supervision for the Strategic Projects Administrator, including setting them tasks in consultation with the Head of Strategic Projects is essential.
Experience of minute taking and preparation of board level papers for meetings is also essential, whilst previous experience of working for a membership body or health organisation along with proven experience of working on equality, diversity and inclusion, would be desirable.
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, the College influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community.

Responsibilities include:
HR & Training
- Lead the organisation’s HR function, keeping abreast of latest guidance in employment law and HR legislation and act as the lead liaison with Croner external HR support;
- Ensure employment practice is legally compliant and fair (including management of recruitment, selection and onboarding, flexible working, diversity & equal opportunity, disciplinary/grievance, termination), with a focus on being a fully inclusive employer;
- Oversee monthly staff salary payment and coordinate with external payroll provider;
- Oversee arrangement and monitoring of staff training and lead on implementing staff wellbeing initiatives eg. socials, team building days etc;

Salesforce Admin
- To be the main point of contact for technical support and training needs for core users, and to develop the Salesforce platform to improve organisational efficiency, relationship management and income generation. Training will be provided to support this role.
- Act as the system administrator and manage admin functions including assigning new users, creating reports, dashboards, surveys and application forms etc;
- Onboard and train new users, and grow level of expertise among the core team;
- Implement custom features when new work streams/programmes are set up and as organisational needs grow;
- Oversee support partnership with external technical support and training provider.
- Support the Fundraising Manager and Community Programmes Manager with the creation of reports and dashboards in salesforce to present programme outcomes for funder and trustee reports and the MIH Annual Report;
- App Integration – use apps such as Mailchimp and 123 Form Builder (survey software) and integrate with Salesforce
Governance and Strategy
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to Leadership Team meetings where appropriate.
- Contribute to strategic discussions on the future path of the organisation.
- Lead support to Board of Trustees assisting Chair with trustee meeting, keeping Charity Commission website updated, and assisting with trustee recruitment, induction and training, and board reviews etc;
- Act as the lead staff team representative on Resource & Remuneration board sub-committee
Venue Management
MIH has a part time Venue Manager who is responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the ‘Liberty Hall’ kitchen venue. The Operations Manager will oversee them and support on key areas of venue management in the following ways:
- Manage relationship with venue partner ‘Clapton Commons’ to ensure key services of venue are running smoothly and represent MIH in oversight committee meetings;
- Ensure venue and office equipment is safe to use and repaired/replaced/PAT tested in a timely manner;
- Ensure venue meets latest Health & Safety requirements, Fire Safety Standards and is fully accessible;
- Support acquisition of new kitchen equipment when required, such as ovens, hobs etc either from a donated source or purchased from a supplier;
Finance
- Organise quarterly budget meetings between core delivery team and Finance Manager to go through budget and expenditure;
- Ensure finance team understands the requirements and deadlines of board meetings and provide reminders to them for preparing the required financial reporting.

Role Purpose:
The General Optical Council (GOC) are on a journey to be a world class regulator, with a world-class team. To get us to our destination and be ‘fit for the future,’ we are part way into a significant investment in developing our people and culture. In the short-term we need a dynamic, effective, experienced and qualified human resource professional to help us lead the delivery of our people plan and to develop a new 2025-30 five year people strategy.
This will be high-profile and satisfying role, providing leadership of a small team, combining leading and managing the GOC’s human resource functions with the development, co-production and delivery of our new people strategy, revised people plan and developing action plans to respond to and manage recommendations from recent reviews of some of our people policies, their interpretation by managers and staff, management styles and organisational culture.
You’ll be responsible for driving collaboration and relationship management with relevant internal and external stakeholders in accordance with our statutory responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities:

- Lead on delivery of all current HR Projects (new Knowledge Skills and Behaviour framework, Performance Management, Embedding Values and Behaviours and Organisational/ Workforce development) which support the objectives as set out in the Fit for the Future strategy document and any future HR Projects as they arise.
- Work as part of the Leadership Team and closely with the Senior Management Team to drive a high-performance culture with highly engaged staff.
- Review and improve the full employee life cycle from talent acquisition, recruitment strategy, onboarding to overseeing health and wellbeing initiatives and managing exit processes.
- Work closely with management to identify and deliver resource requirements, ensuring adherence to the recruitment process and good practice and promoting diversity and inclusion.

- Develop and produce standard and ad hoc reports on HR data to the Director of Corporate Services, Senior Management Team, GOC Committees, GOC Council and external stakeholders as and when required.
- Measure employee satisfaction through the staff survey working closely with management to identify areas that require improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR assistant to be responsible for recruitment and HR administration across a busy team
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Responsible for supporting the end to end recruitment process including liaising with candidates, successful and unsuccessful, to provide an engaging recruitment experience

Ideal candidate profile:
