Standing Voice is looking for an experienced Fundraising Manager based in or near London to join our UK team. This is an exciting and challenging role in a creative and focused working environment, within an organisation with multiple programmes and funding streams across 3 countries. This position suits an ambitious and experienced fundraiser, equipped with excellent written and oral communication skills and a depth of donor management experience. 

The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and be tasked with advancing & implementing Standing Voice’s Fundraising Strategy including writing grants proposals; diversifying & scaling-up the organisation’s income streams; and managing donor relations and reporting. As well as working alongside UK fundraising, programmes and finance colleagues, the Fundraising Manager will work directly with our teams in Tanzania and Malawi to design and generate project proposals. 

Suitable candidates will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; a high level of organisation and accuracy in their work; and concrete experience of generating income through trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, institutional donors, philanthropy partnerships, and individual giving. Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop SV’s Fundraising Strategy

• Identify, research and implement innovative funding methods to diversify and strengthen SV’s income base

• Secure funding from a diverse portfolio of new and existing donors, including: trusts and foundations; corporate partnerships; institutional donors; philanthropy partnerships; and individual giving

• Host meetings with philanthropists and foundation directors to generate interest in SV’s work and secure support 

• Manage SV’s grant research to maintain a database of viable funding opportunities for the organisation

• Lead the development and writing of concept notes, proposals, presentations and pitches to prospective donors

• Draft funder reports in collaboration programmes and finance teams, and manage report submissions in line with funder agreements

• Work effectively with the Head of Programmes and Partnerships and Finance Manager to collate project information, in order to enhance funding applications and reports

• Manage SV’s donor management tools

• Build relationships with our donors to foster long-term partnerships

• Identify and execute funding campaigns, including our annual Big Give Christmas match funding challenge

• Track and monitor fundraising progress, trends, and insights, and provide reports to executive management and the Board of Trustees

• Recruit new staff and volunteers to the fundraising team in line with available budget

• Delegate effectively to fundraising team members, ensuring tasks are clearly defined, properly supported and well monitored

Young Roots is a London-based charity working with young refugees and asylum seekers aged 11-25, most of whom are alone in the UK without their families.

Support provided includes intensive one-to-one Casework, youth and sporting activities, English language mentoring and access to specialist therapeutic and legal advice.

It’s an exciting time to join as Young Roots launches a new strategic plan, which envisages development of their services to meet young people’s more complex needs, significant growth in their policy and campaigns team and a step change in their internal operations to reflect their new stage of maturity.

As part of this, the Head of Fundraising and Development will play a pivotal role by developing a fundraising strategy to support the charity’s growth and diversify their income, growing the reach and impact of their communications and ensuring they are able to evidence their impact in a compelling way to different audiences.

As Head of Fundraising and Development, you will: 

• act as a proactive and collaborative member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the CEO to develop the vision and strategy for the organisation, drive its implementation and make decisions about the running of the organisation, role modelling and embedding our values;
• act as an inspiring and supportive leader for the team, motivating, coaching and overseeing their delivery and development, supporting them to achieve their potential;
• develop and deliver a new ambitious fundraising strategy aligned to out 2024-27 organisational strategy to grow and diversify our funding, setting, monitoring and delivering targets and managing risks as appropriate;
• work with the senior leadership team to set annual budgets and fundraising targets and monitor income and expenditure to ensure funding targets are being met;
• work collaboratively with policy, campaigns and communications colleagues to develop and deliver a new communications strategy to build our profile, deliver income, grow and engage supporters and advance campaigning objectives, setting, monitoring and delivering targets and managing risks as appropriate.

​​Ideal skills and experience: 

• Previous success of developing a fundraising strategy in the charity sector to achieve growth targets across multiple income streams and particularly trusts and foundations, individual giving and corporates.
• Significant experience in a senior fundraising role, with a strong background in trusts and foundations and digital fundraising strategies and campaigns and experience of successfully managing a large number of restricted grants.
• Strategic thinker with an understanding of the interface between communication and influencing and communication and fundraising and a data-driven approach to shaping how we engage different audiences to create mutual value across fundraising and influencing objectives.
• Experience of successfully building and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders at a senior level, particularly with trusts and foundations and corporates.
• Experience of staff management and development and successfully supporting them to achieve their potential.

Job purpose

This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial sustainability and integrity of LGT, developing resilient foundations for our front-line services, community development, policy and campaigns work to grow in scale and impact.

Working closely with the CEO, Project and Team Leads, you’ll lead all aspects of financial management from budgeting, accounting and compliance, financial management of grants, to reporting to the Finance Committee to support the Board of Trustees and leadership with financial planning and decision making. Finance is the core of the role, however you’ll also use your data management and organisation skills to help us maintain and develop our workflow and data management systems and processes, and oversee other core operational functions delivered by our Business Operations Administrator.

We are a small, collaborative and committed team, with ambitious plans to grow the impact of our work and to diversify and grow our income in the coming years. 1. Financial leadership: Strategic finance leadership including financial modelling, meeting reserves targets, contributing to long term funding strategy, income diversification and risk management.

About RLS

Refugee Legal Support works in solidarity with people who migrate. We operate in the UK, France and Greece, promoting and protecting rights through legal support, casework, engagement, training and partnerships. As the Digital Campaign Manager you will use your skills to build and lead projects and creative digital-first campaigns to support Syria’s heroic civil society. You will be responsible for delivering campaigns that advance The Syria Campaign’s goals and mission, working with allies and partners to elevate their voices and demands to a global audience. You will get to work with our incredible supporters and encourage others to act by employing the full suite of digital campaigning tactics to bring about real change.

You will be responsible for creating impactful online campaign actions from petitions to “email your MP” moments, running an email programme to engage our large online supporter base (from idea generation to writing, delivery and analysis), producing creative social media campaigns, and responding to real world events. You will reach new supporters and key audiences through growth-oriented digital campaigns. 

This is a full-time position that reports to the Campaign Director. The job is remote and can be done anywhere from European or Middle Eastern time zones.

The Syria Campaign

The Syria Campaign is a small, fast moving, and powerful human rights organisation that is building new ways for digital and creative communications to have impact. We work to support Syria’s heroes in the struggle for freedom and democracy, partnering with civil society actors inside and outside the country. We’ve moved beyond the limitations of an “online movement builder” or traditional NGO, fusing the best elements of think tanks, creative agencies, and digital mobilisation to shift the narrative on Syria.

Thirteen years since the Syrian people took to the streets to demand freedom and democracy, there are still millions of civilians at risk of military attack, over 100,000 people remain illegally detained and disappeared, and there has been nearly no accountability for the victims and survivors of war crimes. The Syria Campaign works to keep Syria in the international spotlight to increase the cost of attacks on civilians, help build the power of civil society, advocate for a vision of real peace and justice, and build international solidarity with the Syrian people.

We’ve raised the profile of Syrian groups such as the White Helmets rescue workers, helping secure them millions of dollars to continue their life-saving work and making them famous around the world. We’ve supported the Families for Freedom, a women-led movement of the families of the disappeared in Syria, to ensure their demands are heard. After 13 years of conflict and crisis in Syria, we have to fight hard to make sure the issues that matter to us and our partners get the focus and support they need. We refuse to let Syria disappear from the attention of the world, and we will work until we see justice served. The Digital Campaign Manager will play a key role as The Syria Campaign develops new strategies and approaches to achieve our goals.

What you’ll be responsible for

Developing and leading far-reaching digital campaigns with our Syrian partners to make their demands heard on the international stage, that capitalise on reactive campaign moments. You will be campaigning for freedom and justice for Syria’s disappeared, for the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers from the bombs, and for support for educators, media activists and other heroic civil society actors on the ground in Syria. 

Creating high-quality digital campaign content. You will work closely with our small and talented campaign team to write amazing copy across a range of campaign materials, including through supporter emails, advocacy briefs, blogs, and microsites. You will lead on digital advocacy opportunities to mobilise our supporters to take action in solidarity with the demands of our Syrian partners through petitions, fundraisers and other actions. Working closely with the media team you will push forwards creative visuals for social media including graphics, videos and commentary, including commissioning and managing creatives. 

Leading our campaign email programme. You will manage our supporter email programme in collaboration with designers and developers. This includes devising and drafting regular multilingual campaign emails to keep our large supporter base engaged, testing out best practices to grow and maintain those who support us, and analysing our success. You will also build action pages, run fundraisers for our Syrian partners, and manage Facebook ads.

Organising and coordinating events and actions, amplified online. You will manage events and actions that influence politicians and decision makers to meet the demands of our Syrian civil society partners – making sure they have maximum impact and reach our global audience.

Qualifications

Essential skills:

Campaign strategy:

• At least 4 years experience mobilising targeted, highly creative digital campaigns for change in a charity, non-profit, campaigns, marketing or political environment

• An excellent track record within advocacy, storytelling, digital mobilisation, or content creation

• Understanding international media, advocacy, public campaigning and current trends in social media

• Commitment to a free and democratic future for Syria, global justice and human rights 

• Sensitivity in working with partners including survivors of human rights atrocities and families of victims

• Commitment to fostering a feminist organisation and promoting feminist campaigns

Copywriting and storytelling:

• Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills in English. Experience of devising high-performing campaign emails, social media content, blogs, microsites and other communications that compel supporters and decision makers to take action.

• Experience writing high-level advocacy communications to a range of stakeholders.

Digital skills and social media:

• Experience managing an email list of more than 10,000 supporters and running a campaign email programme, including analytics to boost growth, engagement, and fundraising. Experience of designing and analysing A/B tests e.g. subject line tests.

• Experience building email campaigns and action pages on Action Kit (preferred) or a similar campaign CMS (Content Management System) platform, and basic HTML skills.

• Skilled at drafting high-performing social media content for a public-facing organisation and an understanding of the different social media platforms. 

• Experience of placing effective Facebook and/or Google Ads.

• Some design experience e.g. using Canva to make social posts.

• Experience using digital tools such as WordPress

Team work:

• Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds

• Flexibility to work on a remote team across multiple time zones. This requires the ability both to work independently and to collaborate virtually

Desirable skills (non-essential):

• High quality written and verbal Arabic

• Basic video editing skills

The deal

The Syria Campaign is committed to making sure everyone on the team is happy, productive, and motivated. Here’s how we do that:

A salary of £40,000 - £50,000, in line with international organisations. The role is a full-time position, although 4 days can be considered.

The job is remote and can be done anywhere in Middle Eastern or European time zones. We have team members in Berlin, London, Rabat, New York, Marseille and Leipzig, and provide you with a space in a co-working office wherever you are based. We have full staff retreats every year to keep us connected.

We give 25 days of leave a year, public holidays, and discretionary break over the end of year holidays. We offer family friendly parental leave policies.

New Routes Integration

The Operations Manager will work closely with the Chief Executive supporting on contractual service delivery (including the management of risk), quality and improvement across the organisation and ensure quality services are provided. This will be informed and implemented by ensuring that our participants have appropriate methods to inform programme delivery routinely. 

The Operations Manager will support the Chief Executive in leading and monitoromg service and organisational quality, financial/income activity and expenditure, adherence to policies and procedures, and overall compliance with health and safety activity through a range of measures, including the use of reports and data to make critical and informed assessments.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the Fundraising Strategy in order to diversify our funding streams enabling New Routes to develop exceptional services that meet our participants existing and emerging needs.

In conjunction with the Chief Executive, the Operations Manager will hold responsibility for ensuring all staff are effectively supported to undertake their roles, and will administer formal HR policies and procedures when standards fall below expectations.

The Operations Manager will provide support and deputise for the Chief Executive when required.  The postholder will be expected to demonstrate a high ability to be pro-active in anticipating and managing their workload, and work without high levels of direction.

Job purpose and key responsibilities

This new role in the Individual Giving and Engagement team will lead the Legacy and Supporter Experience functions to deliver integrated supporter journeys. This will be an exciting and varied role which will give the post holder the freedom to use their creativity to improve our supporters’ experience and increase CARE’s income from legacies. You will ensure all of our supporters feel valued, close to the people we serve and that they are making a real difference through CARE.

The role is responsible for developing CARE International UK’s legacy marketing programme and leading on our wider supporter experience. The post holder will devise and implement strategies to meet targets. The role leads on planning for legacy marketing, ensuring audience insight and effective targeting are at the heart of the programme. And will deliver marketing campaigns via offline and online channels.

The role needs someone who thinks creatively and will apply their entrepreneurial spirit to developing a successful programme. The role will distil CARE’s work down to compelling propositions to demonstrate the impact of gifts and will inspire more people to continue supporting for the long-term.

Job Description

Fundraising

• Oversee all income-generation activity across Free Tibet and Tibet Watch. Ensure continuous improvement and innovation and an appropriate balance of fundraising activity across all streams. Current streams include postal appeals, online appeals, and the Free Tibet online shop.
• Manage applications for grant funding on behalf of both Free Tibet and Tibet Watch, working with the Fundraising Officer to build a strong portfolio of five and six-figure grants and steward them for renewal.
• Lead on the recruitment and retention of donors, especially Major Donors, and redevelop supporter journeys and stewardship programs.
• Evaluate new ideas for income generation and strategies for implementation, especially corporate and challenge events / community fundraising.
• Impact reporting of fundraising activity and the performance of quarterly appeals, with a view to improve internal processes for greater income innovation and ROI.
• Liaise with the Free Tibet Campaigns & Research Teams to ensure that campaigning, digital and fundraising activities are seamlessly coordinated.
• Managing relationships with third party agencies, like mailing services and digital mobilisation agencies, making sure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standard.
• Ensure that our new Client Relationship Management (CRM) system, Raiser’s Edge NXT, is used effectively and to its full potential.
• Take a supporter-facing role in managing relationships with Major Donors, leading by example in securing mission-critical income.
• When needed, providing on-the-ground support for direct marketing, including copywriting and editing.

Leadership & Management

• Line manage the Fundraising Team, which currently consists of a full-time Fundraising Officer, part-time Administrative Assistant, and part-time Supporter Care & Shop Officer, nurturing their professional development and working collaboratively to produce fundraising projects.
• Act as a leader within the organisation, representing staff to the board and executive committee where appropriate.
• Work with the Finance and HR manager to monitor expenditure against budget and prepare regular reports on expenditure and projected income for the Free Tibet and Tibet Watch boards.
• Develop annual and project-specific Fundraising Strategies, reporting on appropriate indicators.

General Responsibilities

• Participating in regular team meetings.
• Participate in events and actions as required, with protest attendance highly encouraged.
• Ensure that volunteers working with your team are managed appropriately.
• Participating in monthly finance/fundraising meetings.
• Provide regular fundraising reports for the FT-TW Boards and Head of Campaigns.

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven ability to look at the big picture of an organisation’s fundraising and prioritise what needs particular attention.
• Proven track record of delivering income across one or more of following income streams:
  • Individual Giving: postal appeals, online appeals; emergency appeals; matched giving campaigns.
  • Major Donor Fundraising: soliciting and stewarding donations from HNWIs; prospects research; Major Donor recruitment.
  • Trusts and Foundations: soliciting and stewarding major grant
• Digital fluency with a deep understanding of how this relates to fundraising.
• Line management of other fundraisers, especially with agile working and diverse skill sets.
• Experience of overseeing the development of team members.
• Excellent knowledge of proper practice in fundraising data and compliance, especially with reference to The Code of Fundraising Practice and GDPR principles.
• Confident reporting directly to the Board of Trustees and representing staff interests.

Desirable

• Experience of working in a high intensity environment, working collaboratively and skillfully in response to fast-moving developments in global news.
• Personal achievement/s securing five or six-figure grants, especially for research or human rights projects.
• Experience of managing lead generation campaigns at both a strategist and practitioner level, especially Facebook ads, with past examples of success.
• Experience using RENXT, Mailchimp, and digital tools (e.g. Engaging Networks or Impact Stack).
