This is a hybrid role, working from home and WGN’s Vauxhall office, with some visits required to other community offices as needed.

About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and strong Administrator, preferably with HR recruitment experience; to support our newly formed people oriented team. This is a key role within WGN and requires someone with sound experience of working within a multidisciplinary team within the charity sector. You must have a keen interest in the HR field and keen to progress on this career path.

Ideally you will have some understanding about working within the charity / not-for-profit sector and will be looking for an opportunity to contribute to our shared commitment of working towards the eradication of violence against women and girls and challenging inequality.

The Sentencing Academy is a research and engagement charitable organisation dedicated to developing understanding of sentencing in England and Wales and informing public debate. It promotes an evidence-based approach to sentencing and encourages effective sentencing practices that reduce re-offending, provide justice to victims, and promote public confidence. About the Role
The post has responsibility for financial processing, HR support and operational administration liaising closely with staff, consultants, and external partners. This is an exciting new opportunity to assist the organisation during a period of growth and expansion helping to strengthen the activities of the charity.
About You
We are looking for a highly organised, self motivated, experienced administrator with a keen eye for detail. You will have excellent numeracy, IT and communications skills and enjoy working independently mostly on a remote basis and as part of a small team supporting the work of your colleagues. You will have a flexible approach, adapting to changing priorities, whilst maintaining accuracy and clarity in your communications. Delivery of your work is informed by a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion supporting your collaborative and co-operative work ethic.
What We Offer
The post is offered on a part time basis at 15 hours per week, initially as a fixed term contract till 1st May 2026 when it is hoped that this will be extended due to longer term additional funding. An attractive package is offered alongside flexible hybrid working arrangements with up to 2 days per month in the office based in London, reasonable travel expenses will be covered. The salary for a full time post at this level is £26,000 to pro-rata £10,400 per annum.

About the role
We are looking for a Human Resources (HR) Manager to oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes and to ensure that our organisational policies align with our values (see our CRIN Code). We are a small team of ten employees based in the UK and about five consultants based in the UK and Europe.
What is an HR Manager?
To us, an HR Manager is the go-to person for employee-related matters including job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and talent management.
The job of HR Manager is important to a healthy and thriving organisation. People are our most important asset and you’ll be the one to ensure we have a happy and productive workplace where everyone works to realise our established mission and objectives, while ensuring that we have good working conditions for our team.
Promoting CRIN’s values and shaping a positive culture is a key aspect of what we’d like to see in an HR Manager. We would also like an HR Manager to review our organisational policies with a view to ensuring that they embed anti-oppression. For example, this could look at how racism, sexism, ableism, classism and other forms of oppression can manifest themselves in organisational policies and practices - and what changes we might need to make. This is important to us, to ensure that our policies are upholding the values and practices we would like to see in the world, whilst also ensuring they are legally compliant. For CRIN, it’s not just important what we work on, but how we do it - and we want to critically examine the how and what could be improved.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with our values and strategy.

Act as a go-to for employees on matters related to their employment, including on any concerns or grievances.

Manage employee relations matters and provide guidance to the Co-Directors on demands, grievances or other issues.

Manage the recruitment and selection process.

Support current and future organisational needs through the development, engagement, and motivation of staff.

Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, policies and procedures across the organisation and ensure they embed an anti-oppression approach.

Nurture a positive working environment and the team’s well-being.

Oversee and manage a performance management appraisal system that supports the employee’s performance, satisfaction and well-being.

Maintain pay plan and benefits program.

Assess development needs for CRIN colleagues and identify learning solutions.

Report to the Co-Directors and provide decision support through HR metrics.

Ensure legal compliance throughout HR management.
Requirements and skills in no particular order

Proven and significant HR working experience, with experience of this within the NGO/charity sector being desirable.

Experience of reviewing organisational policies from an anti-oppression perspective.
