Job description
Ivy Rock Partners is delighted to be supporting a leading global development organisation with the recruitment of an interim Programme Finance Officer to support the Programme Finance Manager in running an efficient and effective programme financial management and reporting processes in relation to their programmes and grants.
About the role
As Programme Finance Officer you will provide support to the full life cycle of grants: from donor concept proposals to final reports. You will maintain a close working relationship with all finance and programme teams and relevant staff across their international network and external donors. You will prepare financial information for internal reporting purposes, including the quarterly CEO report, monthly dashboards, and quarterly cash balance reports.
You will oversee the grants management and compliance processes, including maintaining the grants management tracker to ensure they are properly recorded and monitored. You will review budgets for proposals and make recommendations for improvements and liaise with the programme/partnerships team to ensure they are complete, accurate and compliant with donor requirements.
You will also carry out any other duties as assigned by the Programme Finance Manager or the Head of Finance and Operations.
About you
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience working within international charities or donor agencies and have a good understanding of grant accounting
- Experience working with EC, ECHO, DFID or equivalent and have familiarity with compliance rules
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
- Experience working within financial accounting and financial reporting in a charitable context
- Broad understanding and experience of development issues and organisations

About the role
The postholder will have a unique opportunity to lead delivery of our communications strategy, supporting the delivery of our organisational objectives and ensuring we maximise our 20th anniversary year to raise IHP’s profile and grow our community.
You’ll manage a small, but fantastic team of committed communications professionals, whilst working alongside other teams to effectively tell IHP’s story, and the stories of those we serve. You’ll work with our fundraising team to collaborate on fundraising campaigns, our Corporate Partnerships team to engage pharmaceutical and logistics partners in new and exciting ways, and our Programmes team to work directly with NGO partners to gather content and demonstrate our impact through effective storytelling.
You will also be a part of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for setting the strategic vision and direction of the organisation. This is a temporary role as a maternity cover starting in July 2024.
What you’ll be working on
- Lead on IHP’s 20th anniversary campaign including overseeing a pivotal stakeholder engagement event
- Implement and embed IHP’s newly developed brand identity across the organisation and across external channels.
-Oversee the marketing strategy for our self-designed and revolutionary software system, Boaz, helping to reach new customers and position as a leader in its field.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders to develop communications opportunities and amplify IHP’s voice including employee engagement opportunities.
- Manage relationship with our social media agency to effectively execute IHP’s communications objectives and grow our audiences and engagement.
- Oversee the marketing delivery of our annual Christmas fundraising campaign.
Essential knowledge/transferable skills and experience:
- Demonstrable and successful communications experience
- Management level experience
- Marketing and brand awareness experience
- Knowledge of social media and how to utilise to maximise communication and engagement strength
- Proven track record of effective management of resources, including planning and coordination of staffing and budgetary resources
- Excellent IT skills to communicate effectively and efficiently
- Highly organised, efficient and self-motivated
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with competing priorities, deadlines and targets
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt as part of a small team
The following would be desirable:
- An understanding of Corporate Partnerships, fundraising, healthcare industry or CSR
- An understanding and experience of GDPR oversight

About the Role
RUSI is seeking maternity cover for a 12-month period. The role focuses on the development of high-tier corporate partnerships and the management and growth of key stakeholder relationships with the goal of increasing RUSI’s income generation. Key internal relationships include: RUSI’s Senior Management team, Membership team, Director of Fundraising, Director of Research Business Development, Research Directors.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Management of existing high-tier RUSI members to ensure that they reach their full potential and add value to the RUSI community.
- Maintain consistent communications for more bespoke relationships.
- Identify and nurture specific interest areas and serve as a link with appropriate research groups.
- Manage contracts, oversee timely and accurate delivery.
- Nurture relationships with other RUSI organisation members and existing corporate contacts in order to identify opportunities to expand their level of involvement.
- Conduct stakeholder mapping and develop new business relationships for RUSI as a whole, as well as supporting corporate outreach for specific research teams.
- Have an overview of corporate relations activities and research plans across RUSI; be the point person for coordination and provide input into strategic planning.
- Serve as a RUSI Ambassador and attend relevant networking events and other business development activities.
Essential skills and experience:
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, business development and/or sales marketing is essential.
- Experience in managing high-level stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders and the ability to present complex information in a concise manner.
- Proactive thinker with the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team. Excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills with great attention to detail and ability to prioritise.
- Strong business acumen.
Desirable Criteria:
- Interest in defence, politics, and/or international security.
- Previous experience in the charity or academic sector.
