The Guinea Bissau Country Office are looking for a smart, effective and experienced Administrative Assistant to join their team. The post-holder will support the day to day office administration for the team and be a point of contact for all external stakeholders. If you enjoy managing a varied workload, supporting different teams with agendas, schedules and programme activities and have previous experience in a similar role then this is the opportunity for you.
This role will cover duties such as scheduling meetings, responding to invitations on behalf of the Country Director and Senior Programme Manager, coordinating travel and itineraries, submitting expenses, updating presentations, supporting external attendees with their needs and helping coordinate diaries for the team.
The ideal candidate will have excellent scheduling skills, first class writing and correspondence experience with knowledge in overseeing the office premises and general maintenance of office and IT equipment.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing the cleaning services for the office, own the purchasing of supplies and keep effective records against expenses incurred.
Essentials
- Qualification or degree in administration/management/office management from an accredited institution
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask to meet objectives
- Previous experience within an INGO
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Excellent IT knowledge, Microsoft Suite
- Proven professional work experience within a busy admin support environment
- An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for disabled people

Sightsavers are actively looking to recruit a Regional Safety and Security Officer (RSSO), East Africa to join their security team. Reporting to the Head of Security - Africa Operations, this position will be responsible for overall operational management for Sightsavers in Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
In collaboration with country directors and security focal points (SFPs) the Regional Safety and Security Officer will manage security risks in countries of operation. Responsible for all aspects of security management at a regional level.
The post-holder will manage and report all security incidents, conduct and review risk assessments, monitor intelligence sources and all regional security developments. They will produce detailed analysis on specific threats to the senior management team and contribute to monthly security reporting. They will assess and approve all travel and activities in their region and deliver new security projects in the region.
- A proven successful track record of safety and security at country or regional level within East Africa
- Extensive network of contacts within the region
- Professional experience in the development or humanitarian sector
- Fluency in French and English both written and spoken
- Experience working in remote and high risk environments
- Crisis/incident management experience
- Risk assessment, contingency planning and maintaining security documentation
- Ability to engage confidently with a variety of stakeholders, including Sightsavers staff across the region, other INGOs and government partners.
- Can work autonomously and recognise when to escalate risk threats
- Available to travel extensively within the region to directly support country offices
- Proven background in delivering security training to staff
- Degree educated in security/intelligence/conflict studies/international relations
- Security certification such as ASIS, CPP, PCI, PSP or CPO
