We encourage staff to work where they wish, at home or in the office, within the limits of the role and taking into account personal circumstances. Role Summary

This position provides key support for the policy and research functions of the charity, in addition to collaborating on campaigns and public affairs work. You will be responsible for carrying out primary research relevant to the charity’s policy and research functions. You’ll be monitoring and collating new policy and research materials and contributing to public communications including report-writing, blog posts and social media activity. You’ll be providing input into strategic planning regarding policy and research activities. You’ll connect with researchers and policy people from other charities and from universities. Finally, you’ll be attending conferences and meetings on behalf of the charity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Policy

• Support the P&RM, DR&PA and CEO in responding to public consultations, advising policymakers and working with national policy and research bodies as appropriate.

• Represent the charity in meetings with policy partners where appropriate.

• Attend policy and research conferences on behalf of the charity, providing feedback to the team on key learning and opportunities that arise.

• Work with the SC&PA and DR&PA to draw up influencing strategies to target key stakeholders on policy priorities.

• Monitor external research that helps our policy work and opportunities for collaboration.

• Work with the SC&PA  to engage campaigners in our policy work.

Research

• Work with the P&RM to carry out research activities relevant to the policy and research functions of the charity; including collating and analysing data, and co-authoring reports for both internal and public purposes.

• Work with the P&RM and the Communications and Marketing teams to produce engaging and accessible communication of research findings for a range of audiences. 

• Monitor and collate new policy and research materials, including research reports, policy documents and media activity. Work with the P&RM to produce internal reports where appropriate and to ensure the charity’s activities reflect and respond to the wider policy and research environment.

• Work with the P&RM on external research projects funded by the charity, including support with assessing the quality of bids by external researchers. 

Across both areas

• Produce social media communications where relevant to policy and research. Work with colleagues across the Research and Public Affairs and Communications and Marketing teams to develop strategies for maximising impact, especially in digital communications.

• Contribute to strategic planning by contributing to staff meetings, producing supporting materials and providing feedback on public affairs.

The postholder will also be expected to:

• attend training courses and develop skills as required, sharing learning with other staff as relevant

• in unusual circumstances, work weekend and / or evening hours, for which time in lieu will be given

• undertake other reasonable work as requested by the P&RM.

South East London Mind is working with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Bridge Support to deliver the Greenwich Mental Health Hub.  This will form part of the new transformation of mental health services in the Royal Borough of Greenwich under the NHS Long Term Plan. The service will bring together the expertise of local primary, secondary and voluntary sector mental health care providers with the aim of providing flexible, holistic, and integrated services for adults with mental health problems.

Unpaid carers in our communities are supporting relatives, friends and neighbours, often with limited or no support, to live the best lives they can.  The support of people with dementia, learning or physical disabilities, mental health difficulties or substance misuse problems by unpaid carers has been estimated to save the government close to the equivalent expenditure for the whole NHS.

We are looking for a Mental Health Carers Advisor who possesses an understanding of the challenges of unpaid caring and whose experience of working within mental health services includes support, prevention, recovery, and self-management. Applicants should possess effective skills in communication and have experience of completing assessments, managing a diverse caseload and working in a busy work environment. An ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and to show initiative is essential for this role.

The role will involve:

• Management of a diverse client caseload
• Providing recovery-orientated individual and group-based support to carers of adults with mental health problems
• Collaborative working with all partners involved in Greenwich Mental Health Hub work
• Undertaking holistic needs and risk assessments
• Commitment to regular training and supervision
• Effective contribution to the development and continuous improvement of the service

We are looking for a confident and driven marketer who is eager to join a hard-working and ambitious direct marketing team. Working with different teams across the charity, you’ll be planning, managing and delivering direct marketing campaigns across a range of media including digital and print. Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Campaign Management

· Plan, manage and deliver successful campaigns across a range of channels including face-to-face, digital and print.

· Successful management of fundraising agencies and suppliers; ensuring relationships are effective and productive.

· Deliver motivational fundraiser training and develop engaging fundraiser materials with agency stakeholders to ensure high-quality fundraising.

· Ensure compliance and adherence to regulation and codes of practice is considered in all campaign activities, to include mystery shopping and call listening.

· Work closely with Data and Digital teams to ensure effective processes are worked to and full campaign evaluation is possible.

· Donation page monitoring, reporting and development, to include looking at ways in which to improve the donor’s online user journey.

· Continuous improvement through test and learn principles across all activities.

· Integration of campaigns across the charity to drive maximum value.

· Development of compelling communications and materials to support all activities.

Planning and Budgeting

· KPI tracking, trend analysis and interrogation of results at all levels.

· Live programme optimisation to ensure targets are met.

· Input to annual planning and development of individual giving campaigns.

· Assist Direct Marketing Manager with compilation of detailed income and expenditure campaign budgets.

· Work with Direct Marketing Manager in developing the Acquisition programme and strategy.

Finance and Reporting

· Ensure daily campaign tracking and reporting.

· Routine end of campaign reviews and analysis.

· Ongoing reporting on long-term success measures such as attrition and ROI.

· Non-financial KPI trend reporting - such as opt-in rates and quality scoring.

Additional Information:

A fantastic opportunity for a Centre Fundraising Organiser to join the team at our West London centre.

As an integral member of the fundraising team, you will be based at Maggie’s West London and you will assist in the delivery of a wide range of operational and administrative support, as well as social media activities.

Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. As Young Carers Support Worker you will be part of a small, dedicated team which directly deliver a range of services for young carers, including information and advice, emotional support and mentoring, promoting awareness of young carers and delivering a wide selection of group activities, both term-time and in the school holiday programme. Using all your skills, you will work with the young carers’ team to deliver, review, and continually develop services for young carers to best meet their identified needs.

C4WS Welfare Coordinator Advert 2024:

C4WS Homeless Project (registered charity, no 1189622) which provides support to people experiencing homelessness year-round, through a well-established winter night shelter in Camden, a lunchtime club, Jobs Club, mentoring scheme, hosting scheme and various other activities. We are passionate about helping people rebuild their lives after homelessness and working towards living independently.

What We Do:

Every winter, we work with a number of churches in the London Borough of Camden who offer their venues to us to run a night shelter. We operate from a different venue every night of the week, and run one circuit, accommodating 16 guests.

We provide camp beds and offer a hot evening meal. Our guests leave in the morning after a hot breakfast, ready to attend activities and meetings in our offices in Euston.

Advice and Support

Whilst the shelter operates seasonally, every winter, our team works year round, dedicated to offering advice, advocacy and practical support. This can be accessed by former night shelter guests, and via our weekly drop in, Friday Club. Guests can also access other services provided by C4WS including lunch, laundry and showers.

The Role:

Our small, dedicated team is looking for a Welfare Coordinator, to deliver holistic welfare support to all those who access our services. You will work alongside another member of the team to ensure that guests are supported both during and after their stay in the C4WS night shelter to ensure the stability of their move on.

You will possess a passion for working in the homeless sector, supporting those experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives and ideally have direct and relevant experience of working with this demographic, or similarly vulnerable and/or disadvantaged groups.

As well as providing Welfare Support, you will also be a presence at the shelter for up to two evenings a week during the shelter season (November – March) including weekends, and you will need to lead a team of volunteers to ensure the safe running of the shelter on those occasions.

Key responsibilities

 Grant compliance and reporting

• Financial compliance of grant spend in line with donor agreements ensuring no disallowable costs and that all allowable costs are reflected in the accounts correctly.
• Provide back up for grant financial reporting in the format required by donors for the projects team to review, collate and submit with the full donor reporting pack.
• Raise sales invoice to the donor with all back up attached and provide acknowledgement of funds letters upon receipt of cash in the bank.
• Work closely with the Finance Assistant and Projects team to ensure invoices are correctly coded to the right donor and project and complete month end reconciliations
• Input budget and quarterly reforecasts into the finance system (iplicit) and track grant performance against budgets on a regular basis providing variance analysis.
• Review and assimilate grant financial information for the Finance Manager and/or Project team as required which ultimately will be used as input in management reporting for various stakeholders (Technical budget holders, Management Team and Trustees).
• Support the organisation’s income generation ambitions, through the provision of advice, guidance and assistance, and in assisting with funding bids and budgeting and undertaking new funder/partner financial viability assessments as required.
• Maintain and update donor restricted fund balances/movements for year-end statutory reporting.
• Maintain project financial files and records for statutory audit and donor audit purposes.

Management accounting

• Prepare monthly income deferrals and income accruals and maintain month end trial balance reconciliations for management accounts.
• Capture any committed project costs to accrue.
• Apportion any interest earned from grant cash in the bank in line with donor contract terms.
• Work collaboratively with the Finance Manager on cash flow forecasting with regards to expected donor payments.
• As required by finance or the projects team, and working with iplicit, write reports in the finance system that would provide insightful and useful management information. For example, for grant monitoring and evaluation, trend analysis and assessing KPI’s etc
• Support the Finance Manager in capacity building and providing financial training to finance and non-finance staff.
• Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Manager with regards to specific financial projects, as required.
• Bank signatory for creditor payments in line with ENN’s Delegation of Authority Policy.
• Provide cover for the Finance Manager when necessary.

Essential requirements

• Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. AAT, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, would consider part qualified or qualified by experience)
• Experience of charity-specific accounting and grant reporting requirements
• Experience working with grant funded projects and ability to navigate and communicate compliance requirements
• Experience in developing, monitoring, and reporting against budgets
• Able to present and visualise data in different ways for different audiences
• Ability to manage a diverse and busy workload, prioritising effectively, and able to work both autonomously and as a member of a dispersed and diverse team
• Flexibility and willingness to take on new areas of work and responsibilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, works well with other team members and business partners (both internal and external), including those without a specific financial background.
• Adept at identifying efficiencies and best practice to strengthen ways of working to benefit ENN finance and projects teams
• Motivated, takes initiative, innovates and delivers to deadlines. A self-starter, able to diagnose situations and constraints, comfortable when to progress independently and when to escalate
• Excellent attention to detail
• Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and commercial financial software
• Good cross-cultural awareness
• Ability to demonstrate discretion and diplomacy
• Fluent in English

Desirable

• Experience of using iplicit accounting software
• Specific experience in dealing with institutional donors would be an advantage
• Experience in managing income and expenditure in multiple currencies
• Experience of evaluations: analysing, collating, reconciling and reviewing data related to grant and programme effectiveness
• Experience in developing funding opportunities with a variety of donors
• Data security and GDPR awareness

Eligibility to work

Must be entitled to work in the UK at the time of application. No relocation package is offered for this role.
