About On Your Side

On Your Side is the UK-wide support and reporting service for East and Southeast Asian communities who experience racism and/or any forms of hate.

Launched in August 2022, the service includes a 24/7 freephone helpline available in East and Southeast Asian languages; a website with reporting forms and resources; and ongoing community-based support delivered by trained casework advocates. We work to ensure that those who  experience racism and/or hate have access to the highest levels of culturally competent support while building a better picture of the nature and range of incidents so they can be better prevented.

Funded by the UK Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities, On Your Side is delivered by a consortium of 9 organisations including East and Southeast Asian led community groups alongside national hate crime reporting and hate crime prevention organisations. This role will be based at the consortium lead organisation, identity-based violence prevention charity Protection Approaches.

About the role

Based at Protection Approaches, the Project Officer will report directly to the On Your Side Project Manager, and work closely with Protection Approaches’ team, On Your Side Casework Coordinator, Outreach Officer, and all consortium partners.

This is a new and exciting role that will be central to the delivery and development of the On Your Side service as it moves into a new phase over the next 12 months as an established, sustainable service.

In this role the Project Officer will develop their project management skills as they work with the Project Manager on overall coordination of the On Your Side service including coordination of the project delivery team across partner organisations to ensure they are meeting agreed objectives to agreed timelines.

You will oversee several distinct areas of work including overseeing the strategy and work of the On Your Side Outreach Officer in developing and implementing new engagement, outreach, communications and public education strategies. You will also oversee the publishing of a quarterly data report, and ensuring data is being recorded appropriately and accurately.

You will represent the service at high profile meetings and events including meeting with current and future funders, representatives from national and local government, other policy-makers, police and, academic experts to build the profile of the service, improve its support methodologies and impact, and assist in the development and implementation of sustainability and fundraising plans for the service.

You will be trained by the Protection Approaches Outreach team on delivery of hate crime workshops, and other trainings and use those skills to deliver awareness sessions for On Your Side, raising awareness of the service and it’s benefits while supporting ESEA community members to better understand their rights and how they can tackle racism and hate.

The role is a 12-month fixed term contract. During this period we expect to secure additional resources to ensure the ongoing delivery of this service and extend the role of Project Officer.

The successful candidate will:

• Assist the Project Manager in overall coordination of the On Your Side service including coordination of the project delivery team across partner organisations to ensure they are meeting agreed objectives to agreed timelines
• Oversee the work and strategy of the On Your Side Outreach Officer to develop and implement engagement, outreach, and public education strategies to increase knowledge about the service and use of the service
• Increase the profile and visibility of On Your Side particularly among key stakeholders in ESEA communities and service provider to establish partnerships in outreach or referrals
• Represent the service at high profile external meetings, such as with funders, or stakeholders in regional or national government
• Represent the service at events and workshops including delivery of workshops about hate crime, the service, or other related topics
• Build networks across the hate crime prevention, reporting and support sectors
• Organise and chair meetings with partners and external consultative groups
• Identify lessons of community-led change to inform policy and advocacy activities
• Support implementation of monitoring and evaluation processes
• Regularly review incident reports to verify data accuracy, ensuring cases are appropriately followed and recorded
• Collaborate closely with the data team to ensure publication of quarterly anonymised and aggregated data reports, disseminated to relevant stakeholders
• Assist in the development and implementation of sustainability and fundraising plans for the service
• Commission and liaise with external contractors to deliver services
• Oversee communications including developing social media, website, and other communications copy, writing press releases, and writing opinion pieces
• Anticipate where problems may emerge and work with partners to solve those problems

The Start Fund Programme Officer will work as part of a team to implement the global Start Fund, which is the Start Network's flagship programme disbursing around £20m in awards to network member organisations each year. The global Start Fund provides rapid financing in response to underfunded small to medium scale crises, spikes in chronic humanitarian crises, and in anticipation of impending crises, filling a critical gap in humanitarian financing.

The team of Start Fund Programme Officers work with colleagues across both Save the Children UK (SCUK) and the Start Network.

About the Role

Key for the post-holder is engagement with Start Network member organisations, and effective coordination with the wider Start team, to ensure that the Start Fund continues to enable early, timely and effective humanitarian action.

You will also play a role in identifying and implementing technological solutions to improve Start Fund operational efficiency, and collaborating with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) team to ensure that learning contributes to strengthened programming, and a continually improving funding mechanism (the Start Funds). You will also support other areas of fund management, currently including crisis anticipation and support to national Start Funds (e.g., Start Fund Bangladesh and Start Fund Nepal).

The role includes working with a wide range of stakeholders within SCUK and other agencies within the Start Network and Start Platform.

You will also be responsible for project and team administration, such as processing of disbursements and record keeping of all project documents. You will support reporting, project compliance and escalate complaints and incidents. Furthermore, you will:

• Be responsible for Grant management throughout the Start Fund alert cycle.
• Provide support to the Start Fund Committee representatives and humanitarian personnel world-wide, in the decision-making processes.
• Implement the Start Fund, while identifying ways on which the programme could be improved from an operational perspective.
• Support MEAL colleagues to capture data accurately, analyse learning and emerging patterns to enable effective monitoring, evaluation and learning.
• Contribute to the mainstreaming of anticipation and early action in the Start Funds through information sharing and capacity strengthening initiatives.
• Support members, particularly local and national NGOs in accessing Start Fund through member engagement activities and critical review and support with Start Fund process adaptations.

About You

To be successful you will have experience working within the humanitarian sector and proven experience of project cycle management and financial management. As well as a flexible ‘can do' attitude, you should have the ability to manage an unpredictable workload and use your initiative. Strong data management and analysis skills are essential, as is:

• Experience in organising events and engaging varied stakeholders in complex issues.
• Proven skills in developing log frames, proposals and budgets, and in reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders at different levels.
• Competency in a second language, preferably Spanish, French or Arabic.
• Demonstrable experience of collaboration, including forging and maintain effective new relationships and partnerships, often across organizational boundaries.

We’re looking for someone with creativity and drive, who is confident engaging and building relationships with political decision-makers and networks.

You’ll need superb writing skills, good working knowledge of and/or interest in UK government and politics and be skilled in building relationships to influence change. Experience in international development, and/or UK politics is desired but not required. We are looking for a team player with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and grow. Most importantly, you must be passionate about advocating alongside and for children in the world’s poorest and most fragile places, and ensuring their needs and voices are heard at the highest level of government and parliament.

Universify Education is looking for an organised and adaptable Programme Manager. This is a great opportunity for someone experienced in project management and working with young people to expand the charity’s programmes and work in a small charity.

Job Summary

• Contract type: Permanent, full-time.

The Charity

Universify exists to create a fairer, more equal society where every young person can fulfil their potential regardless of their background. We equip young people from low socio-economic and underrepresented backgrounds with the skills, knowledge, and belief to fulfil their potential through education.

We work with Year 10-11 students (aged 14-16) to increase their aspirations, improve GCSE attainment and to gain a greater understanding of post-18 pathways, particularly university, to make a more informed decision about their future. We run a year-long programme, starting with a week-long summer residential at partner universities, monthly coaching sessions with Universify coaches and a 3-day GCSE-focused revision residential at Spring.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Programme Manager, you will manage the Programme Team to deliver the charity’s annual residential and coaching programme and impact reporting. You will act as the primary relationship holder for all existing major programme partners, including universities and other third sector organisations. During programme delivery, you will be a part of the team’s Safeguarding Leads and work with the Programme Team to ensure the safety and care of our participants.

You will report to the CEO and work with them to build relationships with new partners, and develop the charity’s ability to expand the programme by considering its impact data, needs of partners and stakeholders, and any changes to its programme model. You will also maintain the charity’s CRM and improve programme efficiency. As the Programme Manager, you will be involved in events, fundraising activities and publicity, including supporting the Comms officer.

Main Duties

• Oversee programme delivery, including line managing the Programme Team (3 staff)
• Manage existing programme partnerships (universities, third sector organisations) and build new relationships alongside the CEO
• Manage and deliver external programmes including the Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation partnership programme
• Project manage impact reporting, defining data requirements, overseeing data collection and analysis, and writing the impact report
• Work with the Communications Officer and CEO to enhance the charity’s publicity including social media, in-person events, and publicity campaigns
• Provide expertise as a Level 3 safeguarding lead as part of the safeguarding team

Required experience

We are looking for candidates with the following experience

• At least 2 years’ experience of working with young people, particularly vulnerable groups, including delivering programmes
• At least 2 years of project management experience
• At least 1 year’s experience of team management and line management
• Experience of managing and recruiting a range of stakeholders involved in programme delivery, particularly schools and volunteers
• Secure knowledge and experience of child safeguarding policy and practice. Level 3 Safeguarding Lead qualification or a willingness to obtain this as part of the role

Ideally, candidates would have experience in a few of the following areas:

• Experience managing residential programmes or large-scale events. Experience of designing educational programmes
• Experience working with schools and universities
• Coaching expertise and ability to train coaches
• Knowledge of recruitment strategies, especially in the voluntary sector

Are you passionate about supporting older people to have better access to online services? Do you have the skills to inform and coach older people to learn and improve their digital skills and knowledge? 

Age UK Sutton is looking for someone to join the Let’s Connect programme team as a Digital Inclusion Project Coordinator supporting older people to develop digital skills and improve their access to digital services.

You will champion the service and be responsible for working with people from initial referral completing assessments to understand a person’s situation, creating a goals-based plan to support clients to access digital skills training through group and 121 offers. You will work with older people to enable them to become more confident in using digital equipment such as tablets and smartphones through arranging and delivering digital skills training sessions in both group and 121 settings.

The Activities and Events Co-Ordinator role:

As our Activities and Events Co-Ordinator, you will be passionate for developing a programme of community activities and events that take place throughout the week, MondaySunday. The post-holder will co-ordinate a programme of activities that encourage local residents of all ages to be active, engaged and connected in the community.

Responsibilities of our Activities and Events Co-Ordinator will include:

• To plan, co-ordinate and deliver an annual programme of relevant and accessible activities, classes, events, workshops and outings that keep members of all ages engaged, learning new skills and active in the community

• In collaboration with the Communications Team, to create a range of marketing and promotional material for the activities and events  
• To research and recruit suitably qualified and experienced tutors and facilitators and supervise their involvement in delivering St Luke's programmes
• In collaboration with the Volunteer Co-ordinator to supervise and support a team of volunteers supporting the programme of activities and event
• To report on and review attendance monitoring systems assessing the impact and quality of activities and events
• To maintain efficient manual and computer-based records of data in line with current guidance and procedures
• To oversee and assist in the upkeep of the facilities and equipment reporting defects or issues as necessary

Essential Skills, Experience & Abilities we are looking for in our ideal Activities and Events Co-Ordinator:

• Experience of working in a community setting delivering a range of successful activities and events  
• Experience of developing and managing new and existing activities and events from initial planning to post evaluation
• Organisational, administrative and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver quality work to deadlines
• The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work comfortably under pressure within a busy environment
• Track record of creating, managing and working within established budgets 
• The ability to work in partnership with a range of colleagues, individuals, organisations and groups to support and engage the local community
• Understanding of how race, sex, age and other issues are relevant when providing support to users and in all dealings with staff, trustees, clients, volunteers and other individuals

We are deploying £5M per year to fund preclinical and early clinical stage projects in biotechs and contract research organisations to bring new treatments to people living with Parkinson’s.

About the role 

You’ll apply expert knowledge of drug discovery principles and practices to guide the deployment of over £25m in funding through the Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech programme. As part of the Virtual Biotech team you will evaluate new project proposals, manage our interactions with funded projects, and liaise with external partners and the Parkinson’s community, whilst maintaining professional knowledge and networks. 

You’ll lead on our funding and oversight of some of our projects and support others; including developing robust project plans with the sponsor, featuring efficient use of external resource providers (e.g. for medicinal chemistry, compound synthesis, computational chemistry, crystallography, ADME/physchem profiling, IP handling).

What you’ll do:

• Provide expert management and leadership for the charity’s ongoing preclinical projects to ensure studies are delivered on time and on budget, and participate in joint steering committees and other advisory meetings, providing expert scientific and strategic insight

• Bring new initiatives and working practices to the Virtual Biotech, as appropriate, contribute to the design and evaluation of novel compounds, and identify and evaluate candidate service providers for project work packages

• Solicit external proposals for new projects and develop internal project proposals, and critically review the relevant aspects of internal and external new drug discovery project proposals

• Represent Parkinson’s UK in collaborations, with consortia and at scientific meetings, and interact with people with Parkinson’s and involve them in projects in order to increase the opportunities to deliver new drugs that meet unmet medical needs

What you’ll bring:

• Extensive drug discovery experience with at least 5 years spent in pharma or biotech environments, and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (Ph.D., M.D., D.Phil.)

• Expert knowledge of small molecule drug discovery principles and practices including experience of compound design and evaluation, and experience of neuroscience drug discovery

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in suitable formats for both scientific and lay audiences, and ability to compile project proposals/reports suitable for scientific and non-scientific audiences

• Track record of proposing new projects, with significant experience of project management and leadership skills from initiation to completion/review including selecting and working with CROs
