Job purpose

This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial sustainability and integrity of LGT, developing resilient foundations for our front-line services, community development, policy and campaigns work to grow in scale and impact.

Working closely with the CEO, Project and Team Leads, you’ll lead all aspects of financial management from budgeting, accounting and compliance, financial management of grants, to reporting to the Finance Committee to support the Board of Trustees and leadership with financial planning and decision making. Finance is the core of the role, however you’ll also use your data management and organisation skills to help us maintain and develop our workflow and data management systems and processes, and oversee other core operational functions delivered by our Business Operations Administrator.

We are a small, collaborative and committed team, with ambitious plans to grow the impact of our work and to diversify and grow our income in the coming years. As a newly created role, sitting within our senior leadership team and reporting to the CEO, there’s huge scope to contribute your experience and ideas to the strategic and operational development of the organisation - and invest in your own professional development too. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

1. Experience of working in a finance management role in a charity or social impact-driven context.

2. Ability to operate strategically, proactively flagging and acting on opportunities and risks for the organisation.

3. Experience of delivering and managing all core finance and accounting processes to support budgeting, reporting which supports sound financial management and decision making.

4. Experience of financial management for grants and restricted funds, including drafting project budgets and financial reporting.

What you’ll do: 

Our Finance Manager will report to our Head of Finance and Resources and be a member of our Finance Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the financial records of the charity are accurately accounted for in a timely manner and for supporting growth of the charity in a controlled a sustainable way. 

You will directly line manage our Finance Assistant, manage relationships with 3rd parties and be financial business partner to key stakeholders.

We are ambitious and we need you to help us shape the operational and strategic direction of Green Light Trust. This will be achieved through robust, accurate bookkeeping, effective process and system controls, regular financial planning, the provision of financial information and analysis to support sound decision making and continuous improvement in controls and processes.

The priorities in this role will be: 

1. Management Accounting: Creditor and debtor control to ensure all amounts owed to and from the charity are managed in a robust manner, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to support decision making, in line with organisation and statutory requirements. 
2. Financial Accounting: Day to day treasury management, accurate and timely bookkeeping in line with statutory and regulatory requirements. 
3. Payroll: Co-ordinate with HR colleagues and 3rd party payroll processing bureau to ensure all members of staff and associated other payroll liabilities are paid correctly and on time. 
4. Financial Planning: producing cash flow forecasts on a quarterly basis, collaborating with budget holders and supporting the Head of Finance to prepare robust income and expenditure budgets and quarterly re forecasts. 
5. Analysis and Business Partnering: provide ad hoc and routine analysis to support decision making and support to budget holders to ensure ongoing spend control. 
6. Process improvement: support Head of finance to identify opportunities to ensure all processes system outputs are effective and manual input is minimised. 
7. Line management of finance assistant; providing coaching and guidance to support ongoing development and ensuring there are appropriate levels of cover for team processes, during periods of absence. 
8. General: Ensure all computerised systems are used and maintained in accordance with established processes and best practice and support the Head of finance on the implementation of a new fit for growth finance system.

About the role  

Smart Works are looking to appoint an exceptional Finance Manager to join our finance team at a time of significant growth for the organisation. Working closely with the existing finance team of four, the Finance Manager will play a crucial role in safeguarding the financial health of Smart Works Charity and its network of eleven centres across the UK.

GRT are looking for an experienced, passionate and delivery focused Finance Manager to join our team in Birmingham. The role:

The purpose of this role is to ensure effective, efficient and accurate day-to-day financial management and financial controls for the Fidelity UK and international Foundations, including leading on management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning and delivering the annual reports and accounts for all four Foundations. Part 1: Role Purpose:

Part 2: Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all staff are using the QuickBooks finance system in place at Street Child of Liberia to provide accurate and timely recording of transactions – providing training, review, support and direct input as needed.

5) A liaison and link with Street Child UK Finance team to enable management of operations in Sierra Leone. (10%)

• Develop the annual budget for Sierra Leone, which includes costs budget, programmes costs, cash flow forecasting.
• Enter Street Child of Sierra Leone costs on the HQ finance system (Aqilla) and ensure that all monthly transfers to Street Child of Sierra Leone are fully accounted for and reconciled.

Attributes Essential Desirable

Education / Qualifications:

• Educated to degree level or higher
• Recognised Accountancy Qualification
• Degree in International Business Administration, finance or related field; or attendance at specific relevant training courses

Experience and Knowledge:

• 5 years post qualification experience
• Experience of implementing internal controls and finance procedures
• Experience of managing multi donor grants and good knowledge of donor compliance rules and requirements – in particular working with DFID, UN, EU, USAID
• Knowledge of development issues and concepts

Skills and Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of finance & logistics policy within non-governmental organizations
• Knowledge of computer applications and software finance packages –in particular Quickbooks and Aqilla or other “mid-tier” finance system
• System design and implementation of finance software packages

Other:

• Strong interpersonal, management and team work skills
• Ability to influence change in teams not directly managed
• A self-starter, capable of working independently and flexibly to a high level
