Senior Communications Officer

The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Senior Communications Officer to join their Strategic Partnerships and Communications team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.   

As a Senior Communications Officer with Clean Air Fund you would help to support the Clean Air Fund’s communications and engagement with our key audiences of governments, funders, businesses, researchers, civil society organisations and campaigners. You will help proactively shape and deliver Clean Air Fund’s strategic communications activities to tackle global air pollution. You will lead our social media strategy and management to grow our digital audiences and foster deeper engagement. From delivering compelling content to executing digital campaigns to coordinating events, you’ll play a critical role in raising our profile and 
supporting the clean air movement. Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day delivery of compelling communications and developing our digital channels. You will also support our wider campaigns across all our channels including earned and paid activities.

To be successful in this role you will have 

•  Proven experience in a wide-ranging communications role in a similar sector.
•  Significant experience managing social media channels, and developing and delivering social media strategy.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing multichannel communications campaigns and plans.
• Experience managing projects and running events.

Over the next two years, GWEC expects to rapidly scale up the number and size of the grants that we are managing globally. The post-holder will play a pivotal role in securing new grants, and building the capacity of the global staff team to effectively manage the grants once secured. The successful applicant is likely to be someone who enjoys problem solving, innovation and collaboration with multiple departments and individuals. 

Headline overview of responsibilities: 

- Grant identification and pipeline management: Conduct research to identify potential grant funding opportunities. Conduct research and analysis on the reporting and financial requirements of prospective donors. Maintain the funding pipeline/ grant management database

- Grant application oversight: Manage the end-to-end grant application process for new grants.

- Budget and financial management: Collaborate with the project and finance teams to develop project budgets. Monitor spending against grants in relation to activities delivered. Ensure Project Leads receive monthly spend updates. Ensure donor budgets are utilised as directed, financial reporting is on-track, and any alterations are communicated internally and externally. Support Project Leads to re-forecast budgets.

- Grant compliance: Ensure compliance with grant agreements, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Ensure that the project delivery team is inducted on contractual obligations, and provide support and advice regarding adherence to contracts throughout the grant period. Support on grant management documentation, including quality assuring processes. Support the project delivery teams in the preparation and submission of donor reports, through until grant close-out.

- Grant Performance Management: Ensure that all grant management tools are set up with each grant’s inception period. Coordinate quarterly grant oversight meetings, and hold project delivery teams to account for delivery of projects. Ensure GWEC fulfils its obligations to donors as per grant contracts. Support the finance team to liaise with auditors throughout audits.

- Knowledge sharing: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant funding and statutory funding. Share technical advice, grant specific guidance and project management best practices and tools. Contribute to GWECs grant-related systems, policies, processes, and guidelines.

- Strategy delivery: Support the Grants Director in the delivery of the fundraising strategy, including assuming responsibility for the delivery of identified tasks within the team’s annual work plan. Engage in regular monitoring of progress against the work plan.

Essentia Person Criteria:

• Right to work in UK or Portugal

• University Degree (BA or Bsc)

• 3 or more years relevant  experience, in either a non-profit organisation or a grant making organisation

The Data Analyst: Geo-Spatial position will play a key role in the implementation of a new digital Information Management System (IMS) for the organisation’s monitoring and evaluation data. The system is in place and is in the process of being refined by a consultant. The new post-holder will have a handover with the consultant in order to take on the management of the IMS.

The role includes data management and analysis of all geo-spatial indicators across all projects. This will be done in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

About you

This role is based with our Wales & Southwest team, and we are looking for someone with particular experience and developed networks across this region. Our successful Enterprise Manager may previously have worked in roles such as Partnerships Manager, Development Manager, Fundraising Manager, Partnerships & Fundraising Manager, and will ideally have good knowledge and confidence in identifying and successfully bidding for project funding via government departments, regional agencies, statutory funders, and charitable trusts. Prior experience of statutory funded active travel schemes is desirable.

Technical:

• A proven track record of developing and writing successful funding bids.
• Knowledge of funding environments, including lottery distributors, key statutory funders, trusts and foundations, charitable trusts.
• Experience of strategic relationship, partnership development and management.

This role sits in the Trust’s Business Development/Nature Based Solutions (NBS) team, an innovative new team focused on county wide recovery and green finance investment within the county of Surrey. This role will also manage the Trusts internal and external processes around Green Finance and drive forward investment in nature at a landscape level.

Transition Together is seeking to continue the work of deepening connection and growing the voice of the Transition Movement in England and Wales through the freelance engagement of three Network Weavers. We’re a small charity that brings communities together to create cleaner, connected and safer urban and rural neighbourhoods by tackling the litter problems where they live. About the Role

The Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager will be responsible for driving significant income growth from corporates - working with brands and businesses to reach challenging targets. Your role will incorporate close involvement in the ongoing stewardship of prospects and improvement of the RSPB's offer through engagement with stakeholders across the organisation.

This role will focus on securing investment through natural capital markets, including biodiversity net gain, as well as the RSPB’s wider corporate partnership offering.  You will be working closely with colleagues in Conversation Investment, Business Conservation Advice, and the wider Business Engagement function to deliver high-value partnerships which will have a significant impact in the fight against the dual nature and climate crisis.

What we need from you

The post-holder will be someone who thrives in relationship management and successfully securing new partnerships.

The successful candidate will have significant B2B new business experience and a proven track record of securing complex corporate partnerships with strategic communications packages and financial values of £1m+.

Flexible location with regular travel across the UK to visit partners and attend events alongside scheduled working at the HQ in Sandy, Bedfordshire with team members - currently monthly.

Essentials:

• Experience in securing high-value, multi-dimensional partnerships in the private or third sector.
• Able to take a leading role in the partnership development strategy, generating ideas, bringing external insight, and delivering on agreed areas of work.
• Experience in developing and implementing ambitious sector strategies and producing tailored new partnership propositions that meet corporate and RSPB objectives.
• Able to proactively generate leads, build networks, and influence others, both internally and externally to secure multi-dimensional £1m+ value partnerships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective proposal writing and correspondence to internal and external audiences.
• CRM system experience.

Desirables:

• Knowledge of natural capital markets including Biodiversity Net Gain and Voluntary Carbon markets

Over the next five years, Fauna & Flora aspires to enhance its global impact through investment, growth, visibility and influence. An essential part of this will be through greatly expanding awareness and visibility of its programmes among UK and global target audiences and by exponentially increasing its fundraising efforts and results.

A key and growing audience for Fauna & Flora in the UK and globally is high net worth individuals and corporates, and specifically those who are willing to give high value unrestricted support to our global conservation work. As a result, we are launching a transformational fundraising plan to 2030, and we are seeking an experienced Senior Philanthropy Adviser to help us meet our ambitious targets, securing high value donations from our existing networks and helping us to reach out to new contacts and networks to build our pipeline for support.

You will be focussed on developing a portfolio of high value supporters in the UK, but you will also develop strong working relationships across high value fundraising activities in the USA and Australia, as well as more widely across the fundraising communications teams, and also with senior leadership including the CEO and with our volunteers including trustees.

To this end we are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our Philanthropy team in this role. The role requires an individual with passion and drive to inspire and motivate donors to give significant funding to our cause, but also with the ability to listen and understand prospect motivations, in order to build lasting relationships. You will have expert technical and professional skills in major donor fundraising and a proven ability to develop fundraising strategy for high level donors.

Your key focus in this role is on building and maintaining high-value donor relationships, and you will be supported in this by our expert Research & Insight team, providing donor and prospect research and briefings and inputting into strategy, and our expert Philanthropy Engagement team, who develop and manage various engagement opportunities for major supporter and prospects, from events, trips and newsletters to bespoke proposals and reports.

Job Purpose & Background: 

CDP’s development team is ambitious, dynamic and at the heart of everything CDP does. As a Senior Manager, Philanthropy, you will focus on developing and managing strategic, high-value relationships with Trusts and Foundations. The Senior Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing a global fundraising strategy at a key time of organizational growth. Reporting directly to CDPs Head of Philanthropy, you are an independent thinker who can help grow and sustain grant funding from Trusts and Foundations.

You are the kind of person who gets out from behind your desk to meet people, influence and achieve long lasting, mutually beneficial relationships. You’ll need to be determined, tenacious and focused on results.

Who you are

• Must reside and be eligible to work in the locations stipulated above.
• You have a proven ability to build and manage philanthropic donor income streams, maximising the value of existing and prospective supporters.
• You have a proven track record of relationship building to secure grants at seven figure and above level. 

• You have 5 or more years of fundraising experience, preferably with Foundations or High Net-Worth Individuals.
• You are able to understand diverse donor motivations and deliver a bespoke relationship to meet these and have demonstrable skill in adapting written and verbal communications for a philanthropy audience. 

• You have excellent face to face, interpersonal, negotiating and persuasive skills. 

• You are an effective communicator.
• You are confident working with senior stakeholders internally and externally, using tact and diplomacy. 

• You have extensive experience of bespoke proposal and report writing for a philanthropy audience. 

• You have excellent attention to detail, ability to analyse and prepare budgets. You are organised and methodical approach to plan and deliver against a varied workload, managing competing priorities under your own initiative and to strict deadlines.
• Experienced in working as part of a global team

Your day-to-day

You will support the execution of CDPs philanthropic fundraising strategy. 

You will manage a portfolio of strategic, high-value donors, building strong relationships and implementing creative solicitation plans to maximise donor engagement and income.

You will research, develop and secure funding from new donors, with a strong focus on funders with a potential to give 7-8 figure grants. 

You will develop an excellent knowledge of CDP’s work, liaise with colleagues to prepare and present high-quality information such as tailored presentations and proposals for the donor. 

You will build excellent external working relationships at all levels with donors, their staff and networks in order to directly influence their decisions.

You will build excellent internal working relationships to engage staff at all levels in supporting donor stewardship to manage prospective and existing donors effectively.
