What the job involves 

We're on the lookout for an Engagement Events Manager to join our fantastic Customer Experience and Engagement Team. In this role within our Communications directorate, you'll take charge of our Engagement Events strategy, steering the Engagement Events programme to support Prostate Cancer UK's ambitious plans. 

In your role you’ll oversee and inspire your team to go above and beyond, fostering loyalty, satisfaction, and trust among our supporters and customers. You'll act as a role model, demonstrating strong leadership skills and championing the work of the Engagement Events team across the organisation, fostering a culture of excellent collaboration. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring key senior stakeholders are fully briefed on all events and projects, as well as overseeing the management of external suppliers and budget management.

Working with the Data and Insight Team you'll ensure that our engagement events strategy and planning processes are driven by data. You’ll also work alongside colleagues to ensure that supporters have a positive journey, increasing engagement and encouraging further action.

To help us deliver this strategic ambition, we’re recruiting an Enterprise Portfolio Manager to be responsible for the management and oversight of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), whose activities collectively ensure the strategic alignment, execution, and performance of the BHF's overall investment in projects and programmes. 

In this role, you’ll work closely with senior leaders and other key stakeholders, ensuring BHF optimises the value secured at an enterprise-level, from the delivery of its operational plans to its investment in change and transformation initiatives. 

You’ll work closely with staff across the organisation and will monitor and report on the portfolio's health, risks, issues, dependencies, and resource capacity and utilisation, providing guidance and recommendations for portfolio optimisation and improvement.

Working arrangements

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

About you

With an understanding of portfolio management principles, processes, and methodologies you’ll have an awareness of emerging trends and best practice in portfolio, programme and project management and delivery, as well as specific industry-specific challenges and opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have the following skills and experience: 

• Familiarity with organisational governance frameworks and standards (e.g. budgeting cycle, planning and scheduling, etc...) at an enterprise level.
• An understanding of best practice approaches to business case development and appraisal
• Knowledge of financial analysis techniques and management principles, budgeting and forecasting as they relate to the portfolio. 
• An understanding of performance reporting frameworks, benefits management and the development and reporting of KPI’s within a portfolio context
• Knowledge of best practice approaches to risk management within a portfolio context
• Familiarity with portfolio, programme and project management tools and software and their use for portfolio planning, reporting and analysis etc (e.g. PPMA, Product Plan, JIRA or similar).

You’ll have extensive experience in portfolio management, programme management, business planning or related roles within large-scale organisations, as well as a proven track record of successfully managing the definition and delivery cycle of a diverse portfolio of programmes and projects, spanning multiple business units and functions. 

Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, you’ll have strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships at all levels of BHF, and influence and motivate teams towards common objectives. 

You’ll have strong strategic acumen, able to see the bigger picture, and will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills able to assess complex situations and make insightful, data-driven recommendations.

About you

To be successful in this role you'll have:

• proven retail audit experience and/or extensive experience in charity retail, possibly in roles like Shop or Store Manager, Regional Support Manager, or Area Manager
• an entry-level qualification in Internal Auditing or Health & Safety, such as CIA or IOSH or as minimum retail management experience providing a solid foundation for audit-related responsibilities
• in-depth knowledge of shop and store operations, including till operations and financial systems, ideally gained in a charity environment
• experience in conducting compliance, operational, security, and health and safety audits

Look no further, we are expanding our fantastic Engagement, Marketing, and Communications team and we are now seeking a Supporter Experience Manager to join us. This role is known internally as an Audience Journey Manager. 

This role is fundamental to deepening engagement, increasing loyalty, and driving up income so we can better deliver our ambitious 5-year strategy to transform survival for pancreatic cancer. You will join us at an exciting time to improve primarily our supporter journeys but will also focus on audience experience across the charity, including our support services, fundraising, campaigns, and marketing activity.  You’ll be taking stock of our current journeys - working with a wide range of stakeholders to evaluate what is working well, where there are overlaps and pain points, and how we can make improvements. You will then continually champion the needs and expectations of our audiences in the development of new journeys and activities, working as part of other transformational programmes to deliver a first-class experience for our audiences. 

You’ll also be providing clear and practical support to steer teams to work in a more audience-centered way and your approach will be based on data-led insights, making use of a suite of exciting new tools and audience analysis we have recently undertaken.  

About you 

• Experience in mapping, developing, managing, and analysing a matrix of multi-channel journeys. 
• Experience in analysing various forms of audience insights to develop tangible actions for teams to apply to their activities

We are looking for a Programme Manager to join the team to oversee operations of the North West region Sickle Cell Children and Young Person’s mentoring programme. The Peer Mentoring programme aims to improve the health and wellbeing of young people with Sickle Cell Disorders (SCD).

The North West Programme Manager will be overseeing the success and delivery of the aims and objectives of the peer mentoring programme across Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield. The Programme Manager will be responsible for collecting data and liaising with commissioners for the monitoring and evaluation of the programme. The role will entail managing the project budget and building close relationships with local key stakeholders including NHS Integrated care boards (ICB’s), Lead Mentors and NHS England. The post holder will have regular meetings for input and guidance to complete tasks to specified timelines. This role would suit an experienced Programme Manager.

The aim of the Sickle Cell Children & Young Person’s Peer Mentoring Programme is to improve the health and wellbeing of young people with SCD through training, emotional support from mentors and peer-support, improve young people’s understanding and management of the condition, improve young people’s ability to negotiate transition from paediatric to adult services, encourage young people’s involvement in volunteering to support others with the condition and engage more with their local community.

Our Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech is our flagship programme for creating new treatments for Parkinson’s, based on the needs and priorities of people living with Parkinson’s.

We are deploying £5M per year to fund preclinical and early clinical stage projects in biotechs and contract research organisations to bring new treatments to people living with Parkinson’s.

About the role 

You’ll apply expert knowledge of drug discovery principles and practices to guide the deployment of over £25m in funding through the Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech programme. As part of the Virtual Biotech team you will evaluate new project proposals, manage our interactions with funded projects, and liaise with external partners and the Parkinson’s community, whilst maintaining professional knowledge and networks. 

You’ll lead on our funding and oversight of some of our projects and support others; including developing robust project plans with the sponsor, featuring efficient use of external resource providers (e.g. for medicinal chemistry, compound synthesis, computational chemistry, crystallography, ADME/physchem profiling, IP handling).

What you’ll do:

• Provide expert management and leadership for the charity’s ongoing preclinical projects to ensure studies are delivered on time and on budget, and participate in joint steering committees and other advisory meetings, providing expert scientific and strategic insight

• Bring new initiatives and working practices to the Virtual Biotech, as appropriate, contribute to the design and evaluation of novel compounds, and identify and evaluate candidate service providers for project work packages

• Solicit external proposals for new projects and develop internal project proposals, and critically review the relevant aspects of internal and external new drug discovery project proposals

• Represent Parkinson’s UK in collaborations, with consortia and at scientific meetings, and interact with people with Parkinson’s and involve them in projects in order to increase the opportunities to deliver new drugs that meet unmet medical needs

What you’ll bring:

• Extensive drug discovery experience with at least 5 years spent in pharma or biotech environments, and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (Ph.D., M.D., D.Phil.)

• Expert knowledge of small molecule drug discovery principles and practices including experience of compound design and evaluation, and experience of neuroscience drug discovery

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in suitable formats for both scientific and lay audiences, and ability to compile project proposals/reports suitable for scientific and non-scientific audiences

• Track record of proposing new projects, with significant experience of project management and leadership skills from initiation to completion/review including selecting and working with CROs

Audit Project Coordinator

The National Paediatric Diabetes Audit (NPDA) Project Coordinator is a crucial role for the College in which you will support the delivery of a high-quality national clinical audit along with supporting improvements in clinical care for children and young people with diabetes, and their families.

As Audit Project Coordinator, you will coordinate the collection of high-quality audit data, and be responsible for coordinating sub-projects and spotlight audits.

Acting as the first point of contact for audit process and data enquiries received from hospital units, regional network leads and other stakeholder organisations, you will take responsibility for responding to each enquiry using your detailed knowledge of the audit methodology.

You will also respond to queries relating to the NPDA methodology and support paediatric services within NHS Health Boards, Trusts and Networks to understand and use NPDA results to inform quality improvement activities, as well as monitoring NPDA participation rates to define, execute and promote improvements to data submission processes.

Reporting to the NPDA Project Manager, you will conduct testing and quality assurance of audit software systems, liaising with software developers to evaluate, improve and update online data submission and reporting processes, whilst preparing updates to project webpages, user guidance and promotional materials for audit submission and participation. In addition, you will coordinate project webinars, workshops and national events for the NPDA and represent the NPDA at conferences to help promote NPDA activities.

You will also prepare and disseminate audit outputs and publications for different audiences, including audit commissioners and funders, children, young people and families, and NHS services participating in the audit.

Degree qualified or with equivalent experience in a mathematical or numerate discipline, you should have proven experience of producing high-quality written reports and promotional information, suitable for a range of audiences.

With strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, a high level of numeracy and the ability to interrogate large, complex datasets in Excel or statistical packages, you should have a background of working in a health-related or research setting.

Your project management experience along with your proven organisational skills and your ability to adopt an orderly and precise approach to work should ensure you are able to take personal responsibility for your own projects.

Demonstrable experience of engaging and communicating with stakeholders effectively, along with a proven understanding of information governance, data protection and confidentiality processes are essential.

A project management certification/qualification, knowledge and experience of the use of statistical packages, and a general understanding of a clinical audit and the reasons why clinical conditions are audited locally and nationally, would be desirable. 

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, the College influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community. 

The RCPCH has more than 22,000 members and fellows and employs around 200 staff, most of whom work in our London office in Holborn. We have smaller offices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

• Use audience and business insight to develop engagement strategies that are tailored to recipients, appreciating that colleagues are based in different locations and roles.

• Oversee the involvement of various groups across the charity, to enable us to hear the voices and opinions of our workforce.

Position: Programme Lead x2 roles (Workforce or Living Well Programme)

Location: Remote/Hybrid

Salary: £50,000-£60,000 per annum pro rata

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week (negotiable)

About the Role

As a key member of the Strategy and Impact Directorate, you will establish and lead one of our strategic programmes and focus on building key relationships, developing a portfolio of projects and helping us achieve our strategic ambitions.

You will be able to draw on the organisational resources, bringing them together around the problem with a clear and unrelenting focus on impact.  Whilst it is important that you bring an effective and efficient approach, it is also critical that you bring creativity and vision to enable the programmes to realise their full potential.

As an experienced senior manager, you will lead the organisation’s Workforce Wellbeing Programme, bringing together a range of projects and activities that respond to the challenges and emotional distress faced by the NHS workforce on a daily basis.

Or, you will lead the Living Well Programme, bringing together a range of projects and activities that respond to the challenges presented by inequality and help to unlock the power of people and communities to create health, maintain good health and to manage as effectively as possible whilst living with one or more chronic conditions which in turn seeks to reduce or avoid demand on NHS services

About You

Whichever Programme you lead, you will have experience of:

· Leading complex multi-partner and stakeholder programmes in the VCSE or public sector

· Leading large programmes including programme management, governance, monitoring, impact measurement and reporting

· Working in an evolving strategic and operational environment and able to maintain and direct impactful programmes through periods of change

· Building and delivering communication strategies, using learning and insight to drive transformation

· Leadership and people management

· Co-production, collaboration and partnership working

· Working in a team to support the delivery of team objectives

Capital Campaign Lead – Major Gifts
Location:  Cambridge, Melbourn, or Norwich / Hybrid Working*
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Annual salary: £29,059 - £33,210 per annum
Contract: Fixed-term for three years

*Although based from any of our offices, you will need to spend time in Cambridgeshire to deliver the role.  Hybrid working allows for two days a week to be worked from home.

As Capital Campaign Lead for Major Gifts, you will work with the Head of Philanthropy and Capital Appeals, and colleagues in the Philanthropy Team and across EAAA, to secure transformational campaign gifts.

You will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, making compelling face-to-face asks, and supporting the Campaign Committee and senior staff to solicit the all-important lead campaign gifts.

You will work with colleagues, including clinical crews and pilots, to devise and deliver unique and personalised stewardship plans, ensuring that donors and prospects are inspired to support the campaign and to continue supporting our work long into the future.

You will also be instrumental in building the prospect pipeline, contributing to prospecting strategy meetings and conducting research to uncover new potential avenues of support to develop.

With previous experience within the fundraising sector, you will have a proven track record in supporting the solicitation of gifts of £15,000+. You will have experience of managing projects with multiple stakeholders, forecasting, planning, and setting KPIs, and working with CRM systems.

About you

We’re looking for someone with a real drive and a passion for charity fundraising. Who is digitally focused, driven by insight and understands the importance of great stewardship.

You’ll have experience in a range of fundraising activities including virtual events. Adept at supporter stewardship and journeys through a variety of channels, such as digital communities, phone, and email. You’ll have a proven track record of achieving and exceeding KPIs. As well as being highly organised, comfortable managing projects and if needed the ability to work to tight deadlines.
