About the role

We are looking for a confident, senior Public Affairs and Campaigns professional to lead a programme of relationship building and to develop and deliver parliamentary and campaign strategies to bring about changes in policy, practice, and attitudes across our wide range of target audiences.

The Head of Public Affairs and Campaigns will be crucial in helping us to strategically build relationships with advocates and champions for our work in Westminster and Whitehall, across key industry bodies, sectors and networks and at a local and national level. This includes overseeing our programme of events and working with colleagues across the organisation to develop and deliver high-quality campaigns that effectively build support for the changes we want to see.

This is a hands-on role that will work seamlessly with the Head of Communications and colleagues across the wider organisation to plan and deliver a powerful, coherent, and integrated communications and influencing function. The successful candidate will be proactive and tenacious in horizon-scanning and seeking out opportunities where we can most effectively influence the work of others. You will also be responsible for developing and co-ordinating policy positions and approaches that are attractive and actionable and achieve buy-in and support from others.

You will line manage three individuals and have dotted line oversight of the work of Communications & Campaigns Officers in our Action Areas, as well as general responsibility and oversight – along with the Head of Communications – for the work of the wider Communications Team and influencing activity across the organisation more broadly.

You will be a proven collaborator who is able to demonstrate a strong commitment to Ageing Better’s vision, mission and values.

• You’re a senior public affairs and campaigns practitioner with a strong track record of influencing change in previous roles
• You will have excellent knowledge of UK Government and Parliament, how policy change happens and how to develop effective advocacy strategies to achieve change.
• You’re highly motivated and a team player, able to take the lead in managing issues and external relationships, while providing briefings and support to senior colleagues on others.

About the role

The St Pancras Community Association (SPCA) is a charity delivering high quality services for Camden residents, especially the lively and diverse community of the St Pancras and Somers Town ward. As the Director of SPCA you will lead and guide a highly skilled and motivated team to make the SPCA a community hub and a centre of excellence which has a positive impact on the lives of local residents.

The governance of SPCA is overseen by a Board of Trustees. The Director will report directly to this Board and work closely with Board members.

Key responsibilities

• To build strong relationships with members of the local community, community groups, representatives and service providers to ensure that strategies and services are based on an understanding of the community’s needs and the contribution that SPCA is best placed to make as part of the of the range of local support services.

• To develop and deliver a business plan based on a financially sustainable strategic vision and which maximises the use of existing and emerging funding and income generation sources and opportunities.

About the post of CEO

You will report directly to the Board of Trustees, ensuring excellent governance of the Charity, regulatory compliance with the Charity Commission and Companies House, and will collaborate with Trustees on designing and executing the 2024-2027 strategy. You will lead and support a team of seven staff, supporting 500+ older and disabled Neighbours annually with a large team of volunteers. JOB DESCRIPTION

Strategy and Operations

1. Develop, implement, and lead execution of the charity's annual operational plan and 3-year strategic plan.

2. Identify appropriate level of staffing, volunteering, ensuring that all staff and volunteers are appropriately interviewed, vetted, inducted, trained, developed, and supported to deliver against their objectives.

3. Ensure appropriate upkeep, security, and management of the charity’s premises, including all relevant contracts and payments.

4. Ensure that the charity’s IT systems are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant law.

People

5. Line management of seven staff members, and responsibility for staff and team development, cohesion and appraisals.

6. Recruit and support social club facilitators and appropriate consultants to provide additional resource to the charity as required.

7. Lead staff member for safeguarding, liaising directly with Hammersmith and Fulham Adult Social Care.

8. Ensure appropriate mechanisms and safeguards are in place to support up to 100 regular volunteers, and up to 100 additional corporate/student volunteers.

Finance and Fundraising

10. Develop, implement, and lead charity’s financial and fundraising planning and management, ensuring that the charity operates at least at break-even, ideally with a small surplus.

11. Ensure that the charity has a diverse range of income across various streams, inclusive of (but not limited to) public sector, trusts and foundations, corporate income, events, and online giving.

12. Ensure that the charity is receiving value for money with all expenditure, ensuring contract review on a timely basis as appropriate.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Salary will be c. £54,000 and is set in line with NJC pay scales 2024/25.

Working hours are 35 hours over 5 days per week. The postholder will be based primarily on site but with the possibility of up to one day per week remote working by agreement.

Comic Relief is looking for a Digital Fundraising Lead to assume responsibility as the driving force behind our fundraising and engagement strategies. The Digital Fundraising/Marketing Lead is responsible for overseeing the Fundraising and Engagement strategies, planning and performance of our digital marketing channels, to deliver ambitious organisational objectives and fundraising growth targets. The Head of Brand and Communications is responsible for developing and delivering Turn2us’ branding and external communications strategy, including media relations, social media, content marketing and work with influencers.
The team will focus on insight, targeted campaigns, audience development, the amplification of the voices of those for whom Turnus exists and raising the profile of the charity and its work. The work will be collaborative with other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

 

• As brand guardian ensure that the brand’s values, messaging and visual identity are consistently represented across all touchpoints and throughout the organisation, including maintaining high standards of quality for all branded materials and manage the use of all communications suppliers for Turn2us.
• Lead the organisation’s accumulation of insights about stakeholders' experiences of Turn2us and lead the charity’s continued development of the brand’s articulation.
• Support internal stakeholders, including Elizabeth Finn Homes, partners, and funders on the brand’s values, identity, and guidelines through training, inductions and up-to-date brand guidelines.
• Collaboratively develop Turn2us’ marketing and communications strategy and develop an annual calendar of activity in harmony with our work, vision, purpose, values and strategy.
• Develop and manage our traditional and social media presence as well as developing profile through collaboration with key influencers, editors and journalists.
• In partnership with the Head of Supporter Engagement and the Head of Policy and Influence, plan and execute content marketing campaigns, including creating and distributing digital content including blog posts, articles, videos and infographics.
• Plan and lead the delivery of key publications and events including the Annual Report and stakeholder engagement events.
• Define, develop and implement national campaigns aimed at key poverty issues in order to raise awareness of the charity’s services.
• Work in coalition with a range of stakeholders to drive greater impact for awareness and understanding of key issues for people facing financial insecurity.
• Provide inspiring leadership and support to the Communications team, creating a high performing culture to ensure the successful delivery of department and organisational objectives.

Person Specification:
 

• Background and professional experience in Media, Digital & MarComms.
• Experience of setting strategy, managing, and creating budgets, and regular reporting outcomes against KPIs.
• Experience of developing creative content campaigns across multiple channels to drive engagement and social change.
• Proven experience of leading, managing, and retaining a team of exceptional talent as well as creating a culture of innovation and a commitment to achieving results.
• Strong interpersonal and team management skills.
• Strong editorial and writing skills.
• Project management and planning skills across teams.
• Evidence of a strong news sense with a proven track record of successfully developing news stories and strategic use of social media.
• Demonstrable experience of developing a strategy and identifying opportunities for celebrity supporters and influencers to support organisation-wide marketing strategies.

●Hours of work: 37 Hours per week plus occasional evening events
