At the core of RABI’s mission is the commitment to address the individual needs of farming people. We offer one-to-one, expert support, advice and guidance, tailored to the individual circumstances of the farming person.
You will be part of a wider Volunteering team responsible for developing our approach to volunteering and engaging stakeholders and partners through local events, shows, talks etc.
We currently involve approximately 500 volunteers who help raise funds and awareness of RABI within local communities. Most of our volunteers are linked to one of our 40 county committees across England & Wales.
You will take the lead for volunteering across a range of projects including the development and implementation of new volunteering systems and processes and the piloting of a new volunteer ambassador programme. The role also includes the line management of the Volunteering Projects Co-ordinator.
Key responsibilities:
Volunteering systems & processes
- As the lead ‘subject matter expert’ for volunteering, you will lead on the implementation of new volunteering systems & processes across RABI. This includes making decisions to support system development, testing, communications and training for users.
- Work closely with the National Volunteering Manager and the team of Regional Managers, to ensure they are equipped and supported to make best use of the new systems.
- Work with the Head of Volunteering and Volunteering Projects Co-ordinator to ensure the appropriate processes and policies are in place to support good practice and an accessible and inclusive volunteering experience.
- Lead on the evaluation of new systems & processes for volunteering and agree clear recommendations / priorities for future development.
Diversify and expand volunteer offer
- Lead on development and implementation of new volunteer roles – including the introduction of community and corporate ambassadors.
- Work with a range of stakeholders to clarify priorities for future development for new types of volunteering – from flexible, micro roles, to more formal roles such as volunteer ambassadors.
- Develop and agree approach to volunteer recruitment, engagement and development – to support ambassadors and other roles.
- Put in place a clear development plan for ambassadors – including opportunities to come together, collaborate on future content and training etc.
- Manage and evaluate pilots – gathering evidence to inform future development.
Volunteer learning and development
- Understand volunteer learning and training needs and organisational requirements to inform future development.
- Lead the introduction of new learning systems, volunteer portal and content to support volunteer training and development – to ensure volunteers feel supported and we are meeting appropriate safe and legal obligations.
Volunteer communications and recognition
- Work with Head of Volunteering to improve volunteer communication – including volunteer forums and newsletters.
- Lead on improvements to informal and formal recognition of RABI volunteers / county committees – including introduction of long service awards and involvement in national initiatives such as Volunteers Week and Big Help Out.
Team management and leadership
- Work closely with the Head of Volunteering, National Volunteering and Senior Regional Managers to set direction, make decisions and engage the wider team.
- Manage the Volunteering Projects Co-ordinator, setting clear goals and supporting their development.
- Work with the wider Volunteering team and other departments, to support and embed the volunteer journey and good practice in volunteer management.
General
- Comply with RABI’s Health and Safety Policy, Data Protection Policy and to protect your own and others’ health, safety and welfare.
- Take responsibility for professional development, working with your line manager to identify training that will support growth in the role.
- Promote the Charity’s work. Attending external meetings and events in agreement with your manager.
- Perform any other reasonable task as required by your manager.
Person Specification:
Essential
- Affinity, understanding and demonstration of the goals and objectives of RABI.
- Project management & leading change – experience of managing projects across an organisation and working with different stakeholders to support change – ideally related to volunteering.
- Volunteer management – very good understanding and experience of volunteering development and management good practice.
- Learning and development – experience of supporting people’s development and confidence through provision of guidance, e-learning.
- Previous people management experience – including setting goals and managing performance.
- Communications & interpersonal skills – ability to engage and build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders through good communications.
- IT & digital systems – experience of using and supporting others in use of CRM and similar systems.
- Be resilient and open to change in a developing department, and able to adapt to those changes.
- A positive and creative approach to work.
- Self-motivated and confident in working both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise workload and plan ahead.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience of managing and developing a volunteer ambassador programme.
- Experience of using and supporting others in use of MS Dynamics.

You will be part of a wider Finance and Operations team responsible for the planning, implementation, and execution of Microsoft Dynamics and related projects within our charity, to support the long-term delivery of services across the farming community within England, Wales & Northern Ireland.
You will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics along with integration into 3rd party software solutions, our social and wider digital platforms for delivery of access to our farming community and partner organisations. You will understand integration of reporting tools, ideally based on social impact reporting, along with delivery via data warehouses and Microsoft reporting technology such as Power BI.
In addition, you will be responsible for the scoping and integration of our Microsoft Dynamics solution into digital platforms, such as the RABI website and associated portals for our service users, volunteers and partner organisations.
Key responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Drive planning, execution, and delivery of Microsoft Dynamics CRM projects within set timelines and budgets, employing Agile methodologies and delivery sprints.
- Project Management: Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets to track progress, ensuring adherence to milestones.
- Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support project activities and meet requirements.
- Risk Management: Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement strategies to minimize disruptions and delays.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams and third-party partners to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate project status, updates, and issues to stakeholders and executive leadership through meetings, reports, and presentations.
- Post-project Evaluation: Conduct post-project reviews to evaluate outcomes, identify lessons learned, and implement process improvements.
- Project Management Framework: Provide guidance and leadership in developing and implementing a project management framework to support the charity’s strategic objectives.
- Social Impact Reporting Integration: Collaborate with the RABI Service Delivery team and third-party consultants to project manage the integration of social impact reporting into Microsoft Dynamics. Support will be given to Project Manager to develop knowledge in this area.
- Digital Platform Integration: Lead the relationship with stakeholders and digital delivery partners for scoping, planning, and delivering integrated portals and digital platforms into Microsoft Dynamics.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Experience in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
- Proven track record of at least three full lifecycles of CRM implementations.
- Integration experience with third-party applications and digital platforms.
- Proficiency in integrating reporting platforms, particularly with Microsoft Power BI.
- Successful track record in delivering large-scale projects on time and within budget.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a focus on driving results.
- Familiarity with Agile or other iterative project management methodologies.
- Experience in managing organizational change during large-scale IT projects.
Desirable:
- Experience in the UK charity sector.

About the role
We are looking for a pro-active forward-thinking individual to join our team and co-lead the Smart Works centre in Reading. The role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to work across a breadth of projects simultaneously and strong leadership skills.
Reporting directly to the Chair of Trustees for Smart Works Reading, the Centre Manager will have responsibility for the operational and day to day management of the centre.
In practice, the role will support the delivery of the Smart Works service to unemployed women living in Berkshire by liaising with our referral partners and booking appointments, whilst also working with the Trustee Board to raise the money needed to fund the work of the charity through various income streams.
Given the breadth of the role, it is essential that the role holder is able to prioritise and delegate effectively.
The role would be based in the Reading centre, and there will be occasional evening and weekend work as the role holder will be expected to attend fundraising and partnerships events. We are looking for someone to start as quickly as possible.
Smart Works Reading is part of Smart Works Charity, and there will be some travel to London and liaison with the HQ team, as well as participation in regular meetings, phone calls and conferences with other Smart Works centres across the UK.
Duties and responsibilities
- Building excellent relationships with corporate and community partners, generating awareness and income of c. £165k for the centre across grants, events and corporate fundraising.
- Writing high-quality grant applications, culminating in successful submissions to the target amount of £50k.
- Working collaboratively to deliver compelling proposals for both core and restricted funding.
- Line management for our Fundraising Lead, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive in their role.
- Support the Fundraising Lead to deliver events, notably fashion sales to target income of c. £50k and our annual community fundraising cycling challenge to income target.
- Oversee the delivery of the Smart Works service and work collaboratively with the Job Share Partner (Centre Manager), to maintain progress against service delivery targets and financial KPIs.
- Act as Safeguarding Officer for Smart Works Reading, and ensure all training, policies and procedures are followed.
Personal Specification
- Demonstrable experience managing projects, driving innovation and raising income in excess of £65k for grants and £50k across corporate fundraising.
- Experience of fundraising and organising events, raising circa £50k.
- Proven ability to proactively manage relationships across varying levels of seniority and sectors.
- Proven experience writing reports, with ability to provide commentary and present on performance against financial and other KPIs.
- Detailed understanding of safeguarding requirements for a charity like Smart Works.
- Passionately committed to making the Smart Works service in Reading grow and be the best that it can be. Experience working within employability support is desirable but not essential.

This is a chance to join our support service offering Social, emotional and wellbeing groups within the LGBTQ+ community. We currently have the following groups set up:
The Mix – a social group for anyone (18+)
Pride Circle – a support group for families within the community.
We are looking for someone to oversee and coordinate the overall running of the groups.
Salary: £22,500
Position: Full Time (35 Hours) Hybrid. There is an expectation that you may work out of hours when required, including evening and occasional weekends.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
· Oversee the general running of the groups in line with policy and procedure doing spot checks on groups and reporting back to the CEO on engagement and budget.
· To book venues and complete risk assessments, making sure they are up to date.
· Recruit and manage volunteers, overseeing their training and development.
· To update and create a portfolio of session plans and organize activities.
· Market the groups and volunteer roles, on social media, with other organisations and at events.
· Receive and manage general enquiries. Ensuring we provide a service where differences are respected and valued without judgement and prejudice.
· Building relationships with key stake holders and identifying opportunities to expand our offer.
· Input activity data regularly and maintain organised records.
· To follow Safeguarding policy and procedure and to act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Requirements
· To be compassionate and understanding of challenges faced within the LGBTQ+ community.
· Able to maintain professional boundaries, with an understanding of the sorts of challenges and barriers faced by the LGBTQ+ community.
· Strong communication, teamwork and record keeping skills.
· Willing to have a fully enhanced DBS check and be trained as a Designated Safeguarding Lead. A good working knowledge of safeguarding practices.
· Experience of managing groups/projects and volunteers.
· Level 3 Qualification or above.

· Driving License and access to own vehicle
The Head of Direct Work (HoDW) will work closely with our Volunteer Coordinator (VC) to build capacity and increase impact in our Direct Work Team. The HoDW will oversee our Direct Work team and in addition to managing referrals and supporting the smooth running of our casework, they will implement the following new interventions:
1) Ensuring that SWWB can provide expert evidence and collaborate on strategic litigation, particularly where it aligns with our research and campaigning work.
2) As one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads, they will be responsible for embedding an anti-racist, radical approach to safeguarding whilst maintaining our robust response to people’s safety and wellbeing.
3) Alongside our VC, they will develop and deliver training to our national network of volunteer social workers and social work students.
4) Ensure SWWB is able to offer placements for internationally qualified social workers who need to complete a ‘period of adaptation’ so as their qualification is recognised by the social work regulator (Social Work England).
The ideal candidate will be an excellent social worker.
