THE ROLE
The Contracts Manager will join our Operations team to represent the Woodland Trust locally, supporting a diverse portfolio of sites within North England, in line with the Trust’s standards and ensuring the safety of our colleagues, visitors, contractors and volunteers. It shall be the Contracts Manager’s responsibility to support Site Managers’ in the preparation and delivery of grant applications, operational contracts and projects including silvicultural operations. 

The Contracts Manager will initiate, develop and project manage new innovative projects within and across the woodlands, working with external partner and a cross-departmental team of foresters, people engagement specialists, communications specialists and funders.

They will identify opportunities to streamline services, develop our contractor base and maximise the income and grant aid potential of work programmes. They are responsible for ensuring that all necessary agreements, mitigations and consents are in place in preparation for the delivery of contracts and in accordance with all Woodland Trust Health and Safety policies and procedures.

This is a 2-year fixed term contract until end of April 2026. A company car will be provided with this role.

THE CANDIDATE
With previous experience in land-based management in the forestry, woodland management, or nature conservation sector, you’ll have experience in writing and reviewing site management plans, budget and contract management, and Health and Safety management.

You’ll have experience in the writing and delivery grant schemes across woodland creation and for specifying, instructing, and supervising woodland management operations. You’ll be experienced in planning, monitoring, and delivering multi-disciplinary projects to time and to budget and in engaging with contractors and suppliers on pricing, implementation, and delivery.

You must have a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent communication skills, be commercially aware and able to build effective partnerships internally and externally.  You’ll have experience engaging with external stakeholders, communities and volunteers with a collaborative approach. A working knowledge of the operational, ie Forest Works Management of woodlands would be desirable.

A full driving licence is a must have, along with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations. Occasional overnight stays will be required and you will be expected to live in the region and within easy reach of key sites in North England.

Job Purpose: The project aims to deliver a range of trauma-informed learning and development opportunities to women impacted by the criminal justice system. Delivered in our Manchester and Trafford women’s centres, these gender responsive activities, co-produced with women with lived experience, will provide personal and practical skill development that meets their needs and supports their aspirations around employment or education, including a focus on wellbeing and practical learning.

Key Responsibility Areas

1. Co-ordinate and deliver a schedule of trauma informed and gender responsive workshops that aim to address wellbeing and reduce barriers women impacted by the CJS face in accessing employment or education opportunities.
2. Maintain case management systems to ensure accurate and timely data recording.
3. Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders, such as lived experience groups, education, training and employment networks and local services.
4. Create opportunities for women impacted by the criminal justice system to input into the programme, such as co-production, and peer supporters

About the role 

We are looking for an experienced monitoring, evaluation, analysis, and learning professional with strong understanding and experience of advocacy within an NGO/INGO. You will play a key role in ensuring advocacy in Sightsavers is monitored effectively, and input on Sightsavers strategic data analysis. Building on Sightsavers existing advocacy data systems, you will ensure effective data collection, visualisation and analysis; ability to develop dashboards using PowerBI would be of particular interest, although this is not essential. 

Key duties will include:

• Delivering systems for collecting, managing, and analysing information about national advocacy
• Lead on the coordination of Sightsavers’ Voluntary Stakeholder Review of SDG implementation
• Strengthening systems for sharing lessons about what works and identify challenges that are faced by multiple countries
• Engaging in internal Policy and Global Advocacy and organisational processes

The post holder may be expected to travel internationally once or twice within the 9-month contract.

The Opportunity

This role sits within our Evaluation unit in our Impact Partnerships team, who work with education organisations such as charities, universities and education technology companies (our ‘impact partners’). Our work focuses on helping these organisations to design and deliver evaluations, and to build their capacity for impact evaluation.

We are looking for a candidate who can support the team internally with a variety of delivery and administrative processes, working directly with our schools and partners to support their evaluation journey. This will include supporting new schools through their onboarding and data collection processes and monitoring their usage of our digital platform, the School Impact Platform.  You will also be responsible for liaising with schools to schedule focus groups with teachers and pupils and organise these events accordingly, and supporting colleagues with facilitating data collection and analysis, which will include reporting processes and creating surveys which form part of our evaluation work with schools.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to apply for our new professional development pathway, launching this summer. On this two-year scheme, a small cohort will rotate between our practices, gaining wider experience within strategy, evaluation and operational development within the education and social enterprise space.

About You

This is an exciting new role, with an amazing work-from-home culture, reporting to 2 Directors and helping the wider SLT.

Your new role
You will report to the Director of People and Culture, but your responsibilities will also include providing executive assistant support to the Director of Fundraising and Comms 50-50% of your time.

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous relevant experience in a similar role with demonstrable experience of providing administrative and executive assistant support to senior staff members.
• The ability to manage work and time effectively, including the management of competing priorities.
• Flexible and adaptable with a can-do attitude.
• Self-sufficient with sound judgement and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
• An interest in and commitment to the long-term success and development of the charity sector.

Role Purpose

Volunteering Matters is recruiting an Engagement Manager to join their Youth Social Action Team (YSA) in Ipswich. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the new National Citizenship Service (NCS) programme, contributing to the positive development of young people across Suffolk. As part of the #iWill Movement, this role involves coordinating youth social action initiatives in collaboration with various stakeholders and empowering young people to shape their communities.

This is a Hybrid role, working from home as well as across Suffolk. The successful applicant will become part of our dynamic Youth Social Action Team and will be part of shaping our vision in embedding #iWill movement and Volunteering Matters values across Suffolk, championing the voices of all young people. This unique opportunity would best suit a person who is adaptable, creative, driven, reflective and able to self-manage their own workload and volunteer team. 

 Key Duties

• Recruit and train volunteers to support with planning, advertising, and delivery of NCS package.
• Manage and facilitate 12-week and bespoke NCS programs, offering unique experiences to young people aged 16-17.
• Ensuring innovative and creative approaches to keep young participants invested in the program.
• Mobilize young people into numerous opportunities, fostering their development and employability readiness.
• Ensure that safe practice and our commitment to safeguarding young people is embedded and adhered to, throughout all our program delivery.
• Demonstrate a commitment to empowerment and equity for young people by elevating young people's voices across Suffolk and encourage their active involvement in shaping services.
• Work closely with Arts and Heritage sector to celebrate and platform young people's passion for change.
• Support the recruitment and scope of our NCS package, by actively recruiting schools and colleges to engage their students in our programs.
• Build and maintain strong, long-lasting partnerships with education institutions, local businesses, funders, families, care institutions, and other organizations supporting youth empowerment.
• Collaborate with these stakeholders to create opportunities for young people traditionally excluded from such programs.

Requirements:

· Embrace diversity and promote inclusivity throughout program activities.

· Understand the importance of working together with your team  to reduce barriers that can impact young people’s learning.

· Demonstrate a sound understanding of safeguarding principles and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, staff, and volunteers.

· Maintain accurate records of program activities and participant progress.

· Submit regular stats, case studies and updates to relevant team members or stakeholders.

· Demonstrated experience in managing youth-focused programs or initiatives.

· Familiarity with National Citizenship Service (NCS) programs or similar youth engagement projects is an advantage.

· Knowledge of safeguarding, diversity, and equality principles.

· Innovative and creative mindset to deliver engaging programme experiences.

· Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders.

· Passionate about empowering young people and promoting equity throughout delivery.

Qualifications:

Relevant experience and values alignment is more important for this role than specific qualifications.

Location

This role is flexible and will be homebased and/or office based or a mixture of both. Working patterns will be agreed with your line manager upon commencement of the role. The role will require travel into, throughout London regularly.  The postholder will require good internet access to enable remote working, and a suitable home office/workspace. IT equipment and infrastructure will be supplied.
