Caseworker
Forces Employment Charity is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Caseworker to join our team working on the CFO (Co-financing Organisation) programme in partnership with the probation service. In this role, you will provide specialist support to veterans within the criminal justice system, focused on early intervention, support and diversion to prevent re-offending. You will work closely with probation staff, partner organisations and lead providers to identify, engage and deliver emotional and practical support to veteran clients.
This is a Full-time 35 hours per week, home based role with regular attendance at Lewisham and Croydon Activity Hubs and frequent travel throughout the UK. This role has a salary £29,000 pa.
This will be a fixed term contract till 31 July 2024.
Role Overview:
For the CFO programme, Forces Employment Charity is working in partnership with probation service staff and other partner organisations to provide specialist support for veterans in the justice system.This support is focused on early intervention, support and diversion at point of contact with justice system in order to prevent re-offending.
The successful applicant will be providing activities and support to clients within a formal contractual framework working to challenging targets.The role holder will need a strong beneficiary focus and the ability to rapidly form relationships with partners and local agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with partners to identify and engage veterans with the CFO Programme.
- Undertake needs assessments with each veteran and jointly develop their support plan.
- Work as part of a team, together with Probation Service Staff and Lead Provider staff, was well as partner organisations providing specialist support.
- Deliver emotional and practical support to veterans working with partner organisations to provide specialist support for each individual as required.
- Work with the veteran to secure employment.
- Optimise the delivery of activities which are separately billed as part of CFO Programme.
- Ensure that all activity is recorded on the MOJ CATs system, or other system as required by the contract.
- Deliver any further activities reasonably required by the Op Nova National Manager or CFO Contract Manager, the Nova National Manager and the Forces Employment Charity.
Essential Competencies:
- Understanding, empathy and knowledge of ex-forces personnel and the challenges they may face.
- Highly motivated and independent, capable of working remotely from their line manager.
- Resilient and able to work with individuals with complex needs and cope with the rigors that arise from working with veterans in the criminal justice system.
- Commitment to working with each veteran without prejudice and in an equitable manner, including those who are arrested for violent or sexual offences.
- Experience of working with people using a mentoring or coaching approach to engage and support the individuals we work with change their lives.
- Experience of working with others as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, organisation and IT/CRM skills.
- Excellent team players who will contribute to a diverse and dedicated team.
- Driving licence and use of own car.

In this varied and rewarding role you will engage, motivate and support young carers and in doing so you will make a real difference to young carers within Surrey.
You will be based at our offices in Burpham, Guildford for approximately one day a fortnight, with access to hotdesking at any time. - To update the database and SYC webpages– for example to update young carers records and update details of planned youth clubs.
- To provide signposting and advocacy to Young Carers and their families.
- To facilitate bespoke sessions for 16-17 year olds.
- To facilitate a program of on-line activities (i.e. via zoom) to young carers.
About you
You must:
- Be confident in encouraging children, young people and their parents/carers to engage with our activities.
- Have experience of working with children, young people and families. e.g. in youth services /voluntary sector / social work settings.
- Have awareness of issues surrounding Young Carers.
- Have a flexible approach to working hours, as regular planned weekend and evening work is required.
- Have an ability to form good working relationships with young people and their families.

In this varied and rewarding role you will develop and coordinate our team of volunteers and Sessional Workers (zero hours youth workers). - Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the NHS, health care and social care professionals to inspire and enable them to feel engaged and supported to co-create and prescribe a Nature Prescription, and to connect RSPB with the health sector to help create doors for future work.
- Engage with local healthcare professionals and community groups to co-design Nature Prescriptions materials with local people, community groups and healthcare professionals so that they reach a large diversity of people, and those that need and can benefit the most.
- Develop the project plan and ensure that the right governance structure for project management is in place and RSPB internal project management practices are followed, so that the project stays on track, comes in on budget and risks are identified, escalated, and managed within tolerances.
- Work with local environmental networks to build a picture of nature-based activities available and identify opportunities for partnership working.
- Lead on developing ways to evaluate and measure the impact of the project, including engaging with those prescribing and local communities to gather stories and case studies that demonstrate the benefits to wellbeing and connectedness to nature.
- Build internal relationships with RSPB employees and volunteers working with nature prescribing and nature and wellbeing across the UK.
- Develop a strategy and plan for Nature and Wellbeing work legacy aiming to learn from the work done in Scotland and England and from the communities and health care professionals in Cardiff and surrounds to support development of future work in Cardiff and beyond.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Experience of working within or alongside the health and wellbeing sector.
- Project management experience with experience of leading on and developing and delivering projects with diverse communities.
- Experience of developing external partnerships and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in delivering workshops or training, ideally with a co-design element.
- Excellent verbal and written communicator able to communicate nature and wellbeing messages in a way that is understood by a range of audiences and that engenders their support.

About the Team
Amongst other key systems, the ALM team supports two critical CRM solutions which underpin our engagement with both our clients and supporters. We’re also part of the Business Enablement team within Shelter’s Technology & Data (T&D) Department. T&D consists of 30+ people based across the country, with bases in London, Sheffield and Edinburgh and is accountable for developing and leading Shelter’s technology and data strategic priorities and providing a secure infrastructure. The management of data and insight to underpin strategic outcomes, delivery of technology change projects, data governance and provision of support for a range of software, systems and platform tools also fall under T&D’s remit.
About the role
Working as part of a team with a diverse portfolio of skills, as a Dynamics Support Analyst you’ll have plenty of opportunity to deepen your knowledge of our CRM systems, as well as expand into other areas. You’ll be the first point of contact for users seeking assistant with our CRM systems to ensure that they have a seamless experience with troubleshooting, problem resolution and system guidance.
As part of the role, you will also be monitoring and managing the support ticketing system (Zoho ManageEngine), to ensure timely responses and resolution of queries, at times co-ordinating with other teams and taking ownership to deliver a positive outcome for users. Part of our Strategy Enablement Directorate, the Data & Insight Team delivers high quality data and database management, administrative services and business insight to the department and other teams across Shelter. Custodians of supporter data for its full life cycle, running through everything we do is a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data quality and embedding a culture of standards, both in terms of compliance and best practice across the department. This is an exciting role within our Data and Insight team. Our Insight Analysts play a key role in defending the right to a safe home, working with complex data and turn it into meaningful insight, trend analysis and forecasting while ensuring our data is fit for purpose. You’ll be using reporting and analytic tools such as Google Analytics to present insight in a range of formats and you’ll be responsible for improving our data collection and use of data to understand the impact of our work.
