Job purpose: This is a generalist post that ensures positive and effective volunteer engagement, ensuring that volunteers contribute effectively to the organisation’s mission. The postholder supports and coordinates operational activities to ensure the organisation delivers its core functions.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (will consider flexible working / 4 days per week)
Location: Remote with hybrid working style and expectation to attend regular in person team meetings, attendance at training weekends and events.
Salary: £33,056 FTE
Contract: This is a full time permanent position
Reports to: Head of Training
Matrix relationships: Volunteers, Standby team, Head of Geospatial Services, Head of Emergencies, Head of MEAL, Head of Communications, Innovation and Technical Team, Business Support Coordinator.
The Opportunity
MapAction has developed an exciting new strategy to make humanitarian response and disaster preparedness more effective. We need a dynamic, proactive individual for the role of Team Coordinator to support our volunteers who play a central role in MapAction’s work.
The postholder will work alongside our volunteer and staff team to ensure the effective support, coordination and engagement of volunteers as well as supporting training events and activities across the four pillars of MapAction’s work: emergency response, disaster preparedness, anticipatory action and training. This is a vital role, which underpins the resilience and effectiveness of our operational capability. It requires attention to detail, outstanding communication skills, a collaborative working approach and an ability to manage multiple work streams concurrently. The role also is a perfect opportunity for someone who would like to enter the humanitarian sector but does not have any experience in it yet.

The humanitarian sector is evolving, and technical expertise such as geospatial services (mapping, data processing and visualisation) is becoming increasingly sought after in order to ensure continuous improvement in humanitarian response. MapAction and our partners are uniquely positioned to provide this technical expertise, to ensure the most effective coordination of humanitarian efforts.
Main Responsibilities
This role is pivotal to MapAction being operationally ready. The postholder is responsible for coordinating the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing engagement of highly skilled, specialist volunteers (MapAction currently has approx 100 in the UK, but plans to grow this and have a more globally diverse pool of volunteers). The role is established to ensure that volunteers feel valued, have access to relevant training that enables them to contribute in a meaningful way to the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer and Operational support

Serve as the primary point of contact for staff seeking volunteer support. Plan, forecast and maintain records of volunteer engagement and workload.

Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers seeking support and information.

Coordinate the development and implementation of recruitment strategies to attract and retain a diverse pool of volunteers, including outside of the UK.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication with volunteers keeping them informed about organisational activities, addressing their questions, concerns, and feedback.

Undertake training needs assessments, programme design and annual training planning (in partnership with Head of Training), training session coordination and facilitation e.g. timekeeping, icebreakers, team building exercises

Gather feedback from volunteers to assess their experiences and identify areas for improvement.

Maintain accurate records of volunteer information, including contact details, hours worked, and specific contributions.

In coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation team, develop metrics and generate reports to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the volunteer program.

Additional Information

This position is hybrid with regular visits to the office, the postholder will be required to travel to support training weekends.

About World Child Cancer
Most childhood cancers are curable. We know this because survival rates in the UK and Europe regularly top 80%. But for children in low and middle-income countries, the prognosis is bleak with their chance of survival falling to 20%.
The solution? It already exists. The challenge is making sure that every child gets the diagnosis, treatment and care they need. Yet in many countries, public and professional awareness of childhood cancer is dangerously low. Opportunities for early diagnosis are missed. Referrals are delayed. And there are not enough health workers with the specialist skills to diagnose and treat the disease.

Overview
The Programme Manager role will be crucial to the success and development of the charity. You will be responsible for the management and delivery of our work in Bangladesh & Nepal, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to high standard. The role will include responsibility for building relationships with partners and potential new partners. Person Specification
Essential:
- 3 to 5 years international development experience preferably in the field of global health
- Understands theory and practice of Health System Strengthening.
- Understands theory and practice of capacity building programming.
- Knowledge of programme design and planning of complex programmes, including logframes and theories of change.
- Track record of financial management skills, including budget management and planning
- Experience designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including collection and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data.
- Excellent organisational, planning and time-management skills.
- Proven experience in building relationships and working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders
- Fluent English (written and verbal)
Desirable:
- Experience living and working in low middle income countries, preferably in Asia.
- Experience working with healthcare professionals both in the UK and abroad.

Terms of Employment
- Hours: Part-time (3 days per week)
- Location: UK based, hybrid role: Home working for the time being, with the provision for regular meetings in the office. Office attendance encouraged on Mondays (nr Fenchurch Street, London)
- Contract: Part-time Maternity Cover (subject to successful completion of 3 months’ probation)
- Salary: £34,000 - £38,000 Full Time Equivalent (will be pro rata for 3 days per week)

People & Culture Generalist
The People & Culture Generalist – Internews Europe will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative tasks of the People & Culture (P&C) department. The role will support the People & Culture Manager – Internews Europe in ensuring efficient and best practice processes and procedures within the organisation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:
The P&C Generalist - Internews Europe holds primary responsibility for supporting all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment and selection, onboarding, inductions, staff progression and compliance.
· Partnering with other members of the global People & Culture team to support hiring and recruitment processes.
· Overseeing onboarding processes for UK staff members.
· Acts as the initial point of contact for all IEU staff inquiries with regards to People & Culture policies, procedures, staff benefit, leave balances, and general enquiries.
· Working with other members of the PC team, supports annual processes, such as the appraisal and goal setting processes, insurance renewals, ethics program, etc.
· Managing the shared IEU-HR inbox and resolving / following up on staff inquiries and needs.
· Providing staff and manager coaching on employee relations issues as requested.
· Working together with global P&C staff, managing the information that is published to the internal website (intranet) for IEU, making updates and organizational changes as needed.
· Responsible for start-to-end new starter probationary review process, including scheduling meeting, distributing relevant documentation and collecting completed forms and feedback.
· Supporting development and periodic review of P&C policies where required.
· Responsible for timely compliance check and review including clearances, Right to Work, visas, and GDPR.
· Working with P&C manager to ensure timely update of the payroll spreadsheet, including new joiners, leavers, and all variable changes and ensures all associated processes have been carried out in line with the supplier agreement and in good time.
· Managing all employee leave processes, including annual leave, sickness absence, maternity, paternity, adoption, compassionate leave, etc.
· Leading and coordinating P&C responses on behalf of IEU to third party audit requests from donors.
· Supporting process and workflow development and data management within the Human Resources’ Information System as needed.
· Supports employee resource groups and material development, and leads staff working groups and task forces in support of Internews' Belonging, Dignity, and Justice work.
· Communicating all changes related to employee lifecycle to external payroll provider and finance staff as needed.
· Acts as primary liaison with payroll and finance team on any matters related to staff pay and payroll-related changes.
· Supporting, developing, and conducting staff trainings on People & Culture topics, policies, and processes
· Working closely with other members of the global People & Culture team to ensure the completion of standardized, efficient, streamlined People & Culture processes that supports a cohesive staff experience.
· Recommending new approaches, processes and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the PC department and services performed.
· Staying abreast of all UK legal and compliance issues.

QUALIFICATIONS
