We are working with Pact, who are seeking an experienced Senior Manager (Major Gifts) with a proven track record of success to manage and grow their portfolio of major donors and legacies, to enable them to make a difference to the lives of those affected by criminal justice.
Pact is a successful national charity that provides life changing and lifesaving care for men, women and young people in custody, those with criminal convictions in the community and their children, family members and carers.
In this newly created role, the Senior Manager (Major Gifts) will provide strong stewardship of existing relationships of mid value and major donors, support and cultivate interest in Pact’s programmes and unrestricted giving and take responsibility for identifying and developing new major gifts from individuals and family trusts. In addition, you will strengthen and develop the legacy strategy and offer to existing and new individual supporter.
This is a senior, strategic role within Pact and you will have
- A proven track record and specialism in either legacy or major donor giving, and the autonomy to raise funds from individuals, including HNWIs and to lead on this area within a charity.
- Experience of researching and cultivating individuals including HNWIs and family trusts to secure financial support.
- Strong interpersonal skills, talented at building relationships and trust, and able to inspire long term commitment.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey concepts and inspire a wide range of people through written & verbal channels, with the ability to build a case for support.
- Strong literacy, numeracy and budgeting skills and be capable of writing effective proposals, and reports. Experience of using Salesforce is desirable but not essential.
Originally the Catholic Prisoners Aid Society, founded in 1898, Pact has a largely Catholic supporter base, with warm and committed relationships with a wide range of Catholic and other Christian stakeholders. This is a key role for Pact, where you will work closely with other member of the fundraising and extended teams, collaborating with the Head of Faith in Action to cultivate and secure new support from Catholic people motivated by the work of Pact.
We would like to hear from you if you can demonstrate an awareness of and interest in, key issues facing prisoners, ex-prisoners and their children and families, and can work effectively within the Catholic community, including the hierarchy, clergy, religious orders, lay community and networks and organisations.
There is not a requirement of the role that you are Catholic however an empathy with and understanding of Catholic social teaching and ability to relate to people inspired by their faith will be important to the role.
This role is home based; though you will need to be able to commute into London when required. A basic DBS check is required for this role.

The Head of People and Organisational Development will report into the Finance Director and will be responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of the people, strategies, policies, procedures and technologies that together form the organisation’s HR function.

Our status as a charity and being independent of the police gives people the confidence to contact us and make that difference. Every day, over 1,800 people trust us with their tip-offs: our staff filter that information to ensure that they are never identified before passing on what we’re told to the relevant police force or agency.
The information we are given covers everything from murder and serious assaults, firearms, domestic abuse, modern slavery, to drugs including exploitation and gang violence. We also help prevent everything from bombs to acid attacks with sensitive, time critical intelligence that prevents injury and helps save lives.
The role:
- Driving the strategic development of human resources, organisational capabilities and culture.
- Developing, implementing and overseeing the people, strategy, and associated policies, procedures and processes that together form the HR function, which not only reflect industry best practice and run smoothly, but also foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Leading and developing a high-performing HR Team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Overseeing talent acquisition and retention strategies to attract, develop and retain people aligned with organisational needs and values. With a focus on supporting the Contact Centre to improve staff retention rates.
- Providing both day to day and strategic HR guidance and support to senior leadership, managers and employees, on a range of HR and organisational development matters.
- Fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, by developing and executing organisation wide strategies, programmes and initiatives that enhance employee skills, capabilities and engagement.
- Monitoring and analysing HR metrics and trends to inform decision-making and enhance organisational effectiveness.
- Driving change management initiatives to support organisational growth, transformation and agility.
The successful candidate will be:
- A fully qualified HR professional.
- Experienced in managing staff.
- A fantastic communicator.
- Experienced in developing and implementing HR Strategies specifically related to learning and development.
- Confident providing advice around employment law and regulations.
This position will be based officially at the head office in Wallington and will require the postholder to work from the office three days a week. The closing date for applications is 5th May with interviews taking place most likely on 14th May.

Women in Prison is the main national charity focused on women in the criminal justice sector. We exist to support women facing multiple marginalisation and exclusion, who have been let down, and their rights denied. We believe that prison doesn’t work and we want to see an end to the harmful imprisonment of women in England and Wales.
Our staff team are passionate, ambitious and grounded in the reality of women’s lives. We are proud of our roots as a feminist grassroots organisation, and we have grown from strength to strength since the 1980s, delivering services to women and campaigning for change. We are in our 40th year of supporting women impacted by the criminal justice system. We work with women who are at risk of, or being harmed by, the systems that are meant to protect us.
The successful candidate will lead on a wide range of responsibilities for the charity including managing our resources and systems, organisational development and, critically for an organisation of our size, the financial management of the charity. The role will also lead our internal approaches to embedding equity, diversity and inclusivity into our everyday work and culture.
This is a crucial role. It will support the backbone of WIP to ensure we continue to be fit for purpose, have the most appropriate resources, efficient systems, and anti-oppressive internal practices in place so that every person in WIP is able to fulfil their role to the best of their ability.
