We are seeking a Support Specialist who will be integral to our mission to help people with a brain tumour to be less isolated, better supported and more confident on their brain tumour journey.
There is flexibility here to suit your needs, preferences and experience. You could work from home, or at our office in Leeds. There is however a preference for geographical location in London, South Wales, Bristol or Liverpool areas.
What’s involved
Working closely with brainstrust’s Director of Services, you will be trained to deliver the Charity’s revered, impartial and impactful coaching and information service for people living with a non-malignant brain tumour, and their families.
You will instil empowerment and control in those living with a non-malignant brain tumour, dramatically improving their wellbeing. You will play a key role in helping us towards our vision to be readily available to as many of the 80,000 people in the UK who are living with a brain tumour, and their caregivers.
You will:
- Continue to grow the impactful community for people with a non-malignant brain tumour through face to face, online, phone and email support, social media engagement and running workshops and events for brain tumour patients and their caregivers.
- Be willing to coach and be coached. Rigorous support and recognised training will be provided.
- Support with ensuring that every non-malignant brain tumour patient and their caregivers work with us to secure the best possible outcome.
- Refer potential fundraising opportunities to relevant members of the brainstrust team to ensure the sustainability of the project.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join the RGHI team as an Operations Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for co-ordinating the operational functions of RGHI to support the efficient and effective delivery of its research funding initiatives.
Responsibilities:
· Work alongside the RGHI team to support operational efficiency of the organisation across a range of delivery areas including grant making, financial management and governance.
· Maintain an operational calendar ensuring all expectations and deadlines are met such as Board and donor reporting.
· Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations and other materials necessary for the above.
· Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines to streamline administrative processes and enhance efficiency.
· Support the contractor / vendor on-boarding and ongoing management process by ensuring contracts are in place and payments are made against agreed outputs.
· Take responsibility for organising travel including flights, accommodation, and visas for RGHI events.
· Work with the RGHI team to respond to queries from RGHI grant holders related to budgets and contracts
· Perform other administrative tasks and special projects as assigned by the RGHI ED.
Skills:
· Previous experience in operations focused roles, preferably within a research funding organisation or academic institution.
· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with database management software.

Position Type:

We are looking for a Financial Accountant, to join our busy Finance team on a 12 month fixed term contract as progress our finance transformation journey, including the implementation of a new ERP finance system, Unit 4 (Agresso).
In this role, you will help manage the preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts and statutory returns, quarterly VAT returns, and oversight of monthly accounting processes ensuring that accurate accounts are produced on a timely basis.
You will be responsible for ensuring:
- Thorough testing of finance related end to end processes on Unit 4 ensuring that any issues are captured and resolved as appropriate.
- Successful finance data cleanse activities to ensure that data migrated to Unit 4 is fit for purpose
- Opening financial data migrated to Unit 4 reconciled clearly back to the legacy systems on a detailed and timely basis to ensure strong financial control and a successful audit
- Take lead on understanding and implementing any changes to approach necessary for month end close, journal processing and balance sheet reconciliations
- Successful and timely transfer of knowledge to the remaining members of the finance team
This is a homeworking role, but you will be required to travel to attend some meetings and team-days, so you must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our flagship offices.
About you
- Qualified Accountant (ideally ACA)
- Experience and knowledge of Unit4 ERPx or equivalent cloud-based system

- Ideally focussed all or part of your career on being a Financial Accountant and you are likely to have worked in an organisation of similar size, scale, and complexity.

We are looking for a proactive and highly capable Finance Director to join our small organisation and provide 360 degree support to the Chief Executive Officer. The organisation has gone through a period of modernisation and we are looking for someone who will continue to seek to improve and streamline processes and find more agile ways of working.
This position is responsible for the full finance function and responsibilities include:
- Overall responsibility for the development and successful delivery of the Finance function;
- Leading on financial planning, preparing annual budgets and quarterly management accounts;
- Preparing year end SORP accounts and liaising with the auditors; producing the Annual Report and Financial Statements; reporting to Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, Investment Committee and the Board of Trustees;
- Liaising with investment managers to obtain regular reports of performance and undertaking new investment movement analysis;
- Ensuring the Foundation’s policies are kept up to date and compliant;
- Communicating complex financial information and influencing and building rapport with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience of the UK charity or not for profit sector, advanced knowledge of SORP and charity VAT. You will have led a strategic finance function, produced statutory accounts, management accounts, financial reports and analysis. You will have demonstrable commercial acumen, a strong understanding of business and strategic issues, and the ability to appropriately challenge and advise budget holders. You will have excellent communication skills and a passion for helping us achieve our vision.

The Community Fundraiser plays a vital role in fostering and expanding our network of individual givers and community fundraisers. The position is responsible for:
- Developing and managing relationships with our supporters.
- Signing SafeLives up to a programme of fundraising events.
- Maintaining and growing our supporter base.
- Responding to fundraising opportunities from individuals and corporates.
We will occasionally require you to support with organising events for our high-net-worth individuals. The role is managed by our Trusts and Grants Manager. It was a new role in 2022 and the successful candidate will build on the foundations that have been set over the last year and a half.

Education and Training
