Volunteer and Schools Engagement Coordinator

About the role:
The role is home-based and will involve travel throughout Scotland, including overnight stays, plus occasional travel to meetings elsewhere in the UK. There will be the occasional requirement to work evenings and weekends. Key responsibilities will include:
- Recruit Volunteer candidates through the delivery of inspiring presentations within schools, youth organisations and career fairs.
- Develop relationships with partner organisations within the education and youth sectors.
- Support and co-ordinate Returned Volunteers in the delivery of school talks.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Project Trust’s digital engagement and recruitment strategy.
- Participate in the selection, training, and debriefing of Volunteers.
- Administrative tasks associated with all the above.
- Within the job holder’s skills and abilities, support the Volunteer & Schools Engagement Manager and CEO as required in other tasks or activities which contribute to the achievement of Project Trust’s objectives and its development.
- Travel to attend meetings elsewhere in the UK, plus some weekend work required.
About you:
We are looking for a highly organised, inspiring public speaker, who can engage with and motivate young people and support the recruitment of our future Volunteers.
Essential Criteria:
- Commitment to Project Trust’s purpose, approach, and ethos.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload.
- Proven ability to deliver presentations to a range of stakeholders, including young people, with an ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Experience in working effectively with and developing young people in a variety of settings, e.g. schools, youth, and community groups.
- Ability to work autonomously on own initiative and as part of a remote, multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, and ability to communicate with a range of audiences.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a commitment to providing outstanding service to Volunteers and third parties.
- Good judgement and decision-making skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages and a variety of social media platforms.
- Ability to travel within a designated region of the UK and to other parts of the UK as required.
- Ability to work remotely from a home base.
- A full clean driving license and use of a vehicle.
- The right to work in the UK.
About the organisation:
The employer is an education charity with over fifty years of experience in international volunteering for young people. They organise challenging, long-term placements for 17–25-year-olds with partnership organisations in Africa, Asia and the Americas.
They annually select up to 260 young people from across the UK for eight to 12-month teaching and youth development projects around the world. Their Volunteers are provided with training and support before, during and after their international placements, and return home with broadened horizons and an impressive range of transferable skills, true Global Citizens.

Outreach Support Worker
We have an exciting opportunity for an Outreach Support Worker to help young people adjust from adolescence to adulthood.
Position: Outreach Support Worker
Location: Southeast England
Hours: Full-time or part-time – flexibility in working hours required

Salary: £24,000 - £25,000 per annum (pro rata for part-time positions) depending on experience and qualifications plus £1200 per annum essential car user allowance.

About the role:
As an Outreach Worker, your role will be to assist your allocated young people in tasks that will enable them to live independently. This support will involve advice, general help and moral support, financial assistance (advice about bill payments etc) and working with young people on completion of education awards (AQA). You will be expected to work with multiple agencies to deliver holistic packages of support.
This role includes travelling to various locations to carry out support sessions with young people.
You will be expected to provide key work sessions for young people as per their placement agreement. These sessions are to be structured so that the young person can be assisted in accessing local resources, budgeting, and assisting them with gaining appropriate life skills. Using outcomes stars as a tool and completing the progress on the interactive website.
You will be expected to keep a diary of all contact with each young person and professional and to complete Outcomes Star reports on the young person which are sent to placing workers. These reports contain information about the young person and the work that has been completed with them. It highlights areas of need to help to focus key work.
It will be necessary to attend meetings such as child protection conferences, review meetings and other meetings that are deemed necessary in providing the high-quality service that is expected by local authorities and stakeholders and to ensure service delivery meets young people’s needs. You will be offered support if required when attending these meetings.

- To be able to follow all safeguarding procedures and to ensure the safety and welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
- UK driving license and use of a suitable and safe car for work, which is covered by business insurance.
- The ability to understand the needs of a young person and meet those needs through planning and assessment and an outcomes-led focus.
- Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours, maintenance of professional boundaries and ability to maintain positive working relationships.
- Experience of working with children/adolescents.
- Knowledge of Child Protection and Leaving Care Legislation.

You will manage an existing caseload and new referrals, meeting with families and Young Carers to complete statutory assessments, and providing short-term interventions that support Young Carers to improve their resilience, educational chances and wellbeing. This might be signposting to local services, action planning, one-to-one support, or our workshop programme.
Working closely with schools and Childrens Services, you will make referrals to a range of professionals and community services, ensuring whole family needs are met and thereby reducing the impact of caring on the Young Carer.
As a CYP Coordinator, you will plan and deliver workshop sessions and respite activities, providing opportunities for Young Carers to spend time with their peers and recognise that they are not alone.
