As the Philanthropy Manager, you will take a leading role in managing and developing high-value relationships with existing and new potential major donors. Reporting to the Senior Philanthropy Manager and joining a collaborative team, you will support on the strategic direction and implementation of the charity’s major donor fundraising and focus on securing gifts of £5k plus. An opportunity to join a growing team and have variety across a major donor portfolio, this is a great chance for a philanthropy fundraiser to join a well-known charity brand and grow their donor portfolio.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in securing four, five or six-figure gifts from either trusts and foundations or major donors. They will be confident in creating compelling cases of support and be able to build long lasting relationships with existing and new donors within the high value space. This person will be able to work autonomously, but also collaboratively within a fast-paced team.

The NSPCC’s mission is to end cruelty to children. Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is what drives their fundraising team to get out there and bring in the funds needed to protect children and prevent abuse.
Through Speak out Stay Safe, a primary school safeguarding programme, NSPCC reached 1.2m children in 2022/23 and helped many more through their other services, which include a helpline, community events and campaigning for policy and practice changes. The charity also developed new services to help families, campaigned to change laws, shared information about abuse and how to recognise it, and developed new tools for children, parents and professionals.
The Philanthropy Individuals team focus on high level, infividual donors and are responsible for securing 4- to 7-figure plus gifts. The team consists of 12 fundraisers, who collectively raise £3.5M a year. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the Senior Philanthropy Manager – Northwest will potentially manage one membver of this team.
You will also be responsible for maximising the long term relationships of all new and existing individual donors capable of gifts ranging from £5k to £1M+, driving new business with the support of your line-/dotted-line support.
As Senior Philanthropy Manager – Northwest, you will:
- Identify, develop and cultivate major donors up to 7-figure level, supporting a team income target of c.£700k
- Grow your own portfolio of major donors with focus on £100k+ prospects
- Play a leading role across North West to raise the profile of engagement with major donors
- Develop and deliver strategies to improve relationships with supporters and prospects to increase income for NSPCC

About the role:
As our Community Fundraising Lead, you will manage an evolving supporter fundraising programme, including key fundraising products, activities, and propositions, working with individuals; groups of supporters and community organisations to successfully fundraise and support-raise for Hope and Homes for Children’s work. You will act as primary relationship manager for assigned fundraising individuals; groups of supporters and community organisations ensuring exceptional relationship development in line with delivery of agreed performance indicators.

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head of Impact, Learning & Organizational Development, this role is instrumental in building a solid foundation for the future of Babbasa. You will be responsible for trust and foundation grant applications, bid writing, capital campaigns and evaluation reports. You will also work on building relationships with philanthropists and work with the Communications Lead in developing appropriate fundraising communications. Babbasa also conducts individual giving activity and campaigns, but these currently sit under a different role.

Fundraising development

Identify and pursue new funding opportunities for our youth empowerment programmes, as well as for research and innovation opportunities to expand our existing offer

JOB SUMMARY
- Defines and leads the Charity’s strategies for income development and growth, through a mix of traditional fundraising and marketing, as well as new initiatives;

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership for all fundraising, income development and marketing activity within the Charity by:
Staffing:
- Providing leadership and direct line management support to Assistant Directors and Seniors within the Income Growth & Development team
- Leading and developing a team of experienced fundraisers and the marketing lead, to sustain, develop and grow a range of fundraising, marketing and other initiatives to maximise income from new and existing sources.
Planning and Management
- Implementing and executing the annual Fundraising, Business Development and Marketing Plans to meet targets. Prepare and presents regular reports on progress towards income generation goals, to CEO, then Board of Trustees.
- Monitoring income and managing departmental budgets. Analyses of all fundraising activities, events, including a robust patronage programme as well as funding campaigns, for excellent return on investment,
- To embed a culture for learning, that celebrate successes, encourages feedback and identifies areas for improvement.
Brand and Marketing
- Expanding and diversifying supporter reach and engagement to further enhance the return and reputation of the charity nationally, creating strong ‘brand awareness’ of all areas of our work.
- Overseeing the creation and management of Grief Encounter’s messaging and branding across all platforms. Ensures consistency and clarity across print, digital, social media content and all public relations.
- Conducting extensive research to develop new marketing opportunities and overseeing evaluation of existing processes.
Fundraising Management and Income Generation
- Ensuring income projections are accurate and timely, embracing a culture of performance and ambition.
- Embedding processes to support swift identification of opportunities, as well as timely mobilisation of progress with identified plans.
- On-going review and identification of new Grants and Trust opportunities of significant interest to the Charity. Ensures robust and timely applications, including ones for creative growth and development opportunities, are submitted by team and that outcomes/learning is shared for future improvements.
- Developing and leading on other strategic plans and initiatives with support from SMT and colleagues, to create other new revenue generation opportunities for the charity.
Events and Campaigns
- Planning and overseeing the execution of flagship events (e.g. Gala Dinner) with the Head of Fundraising (Special Events) and ensures support from other colleagues across the Charity.
- Building cross-departmental staff involvement in all fundraising events and income generating initiatives. Working closely with SMT colleagues to regularly update initiatives and share developments, both within Grief Encounter and more widely in the sector.
- Exhibiting a high level of visibility by attending a range of income generating events and functions throughout the year.
Digital Fundraising and Engagement
- Development and drive appropriate digital marketing campaigns across a range of social media platforms to engage supporters and increase donations.
Relationship Management
- Nurturing existing relationships and long standing supported to ensure stability for regular giving is well maintained.
- Networking and maintaining regular contact with an expanding portfolio of philanthropists, and major gift donors and prospects to build strong relationships, negotiate a wide range of on-going opportunities for support as well as partnerships.
- Managing relationships with external agencies to maximise return on investment.
- Supervising and providing advice for other relationship management within the team.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
- Degree level education/equivalent.
- Recognised relevant professional qualification in Fundraising/income generation or qualified by extensive relevant experience.
Skills & Experience
- Previous role as a Director of Income Generation or similar position.
- Previous experience of working within a similar agency, ideally but not exclusive to the child bereavement world.

As Fundraising Manager you will have had experience working across income streams. You will have had experience of charitable trust fundraising from research to securing six figure grants as well as have experience in building relationships with stakeholders and developing successful Corporate Partnerships. You will be skilled in writing trusts applications.

The purpose of the Trusts and Grants Officer position is to secure funding from charitable trusts for Place2Be’s projects and services.
You will be developing effective relationships with trusts via telephone, email, Zoom and face to face contact – at meetings and events as well as maintaining relationships with new and existing funders and then submitting excellent quality funding reports/applications. Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, confidence in managing relationships and the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines are all essential to excel in this role. Experience of producing comprehensive applications and reports for a range of funders is also vital.
