About us
Who we are
Raising the profile of veganism has always been a key focus of The Vegan Society, and that remains true today. When we gave the vegan lifestyle a name in 1944, we kick-started a global movement. This movement is fast gaining momentum with over half a million vegans in Britain today.
Through our work with individuals, organisations and companies we are:
- Promoting veganism as a mainstream way of life
- Highlighting the moral and legal status of other animals
- Addressing issues of global food security and social justice
- Expanding the Vegan Trademark globally
- Advocating on behalf of vegans in vulnerable situations
- Furthering knowledge of plant-based nutrition and health
- Influencing public policy, giving vegans a stronger voice
- Showing the world that veganism isn't only a viable option; it's a liberating, fun and exciting way to live
Working at The Vegan Society is a very rewarding experience. As well as offering a fully supportive team of likeminded individuals to work alongside, we also offer

The Vegan Society as an organisation values equality, diversity, and inclusion. We want to be an organisation that tackles any structural discrimination or prejudice. We are actively trying to increase diversity in our organisation and encourage applications from all sections of the community. We will offer an automatic interview to all candidates who meet our essential criteria and who identify as from an under-represented race or ethnicity or as deaf, neurodiverse, or living with disability.
