Overview

With an estimated 4 million people across the UK living with Type 2 diabetes, and 1 million of those being undiagnosed, we are keen to help people understand their risk of developing Type 2 and learn about the things that they can do to lower their risk.

The training for this role will last for approximately 4 hours and you will learn:

  • How to complete the Type 2 Risk Assessment and how to help someone calculate their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

  • The causes of Type 2 diabetes and the lifestyle factors which can help to reduce risk

  • How to run a Know Your Risk Event and guide a member of the public through the process.

  • How to identify and discuss the ways someone can reduce their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

  • How to talk to someone about what their risk is and how to encourage them to visit their GP or Practice Nurse (if appropriate).

The Know Your Risk scheme is an important part of helping with the prevention of Type 2 diabetes. This role can help raise awareness among the general public and you can really make a difference by helping someone to learn how to reduce their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
