Check NowWe are looking for someone driven to be a trusted member of our leadership team supporting The Advocacy Academy in all aspects of what would be traditionally called Finance and Operations functions. You will manage a series of systems, contractors and staff members across Finance, HR, and Operations to provide the Senior Leadership Team with accurate and up to date financial reporting and identifying ways to improve our existing systems and processes. This will include the development and maintenance of our finance records, overseeing our compliance for health and safety, and GDPR, as well as managing key operational systems and processes.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

You’ll help to support the most transformative youth organising movement in the country

You’ll enable the management team and board to make sound strategic decisions by providing information analysis and
advice across finance and governance matters, and deliver efficient processes in these areas.

operations support, including providing some line management support
FINANCIAL REPORTING
-
Work closely with the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team to understand the costs and benefits of activities, events and campaigns;

Support the CEO in developing plans – ensuring that these are robust and based upon the best information available.

Work closely with the organisation’s CEO and Senior Leadership Team in order to set the annual budget, targets and key
performance indicators;
-
Provide timely financial reports for the CEO, Board of Trustee2s and the Senior Leadership Team;
-
Improve existing and develop new financial reporting systems and processes to support the provision of better quality and more timely information;

Support the Chief Executive and our auditors in preparing the Annual Report and Accounts. Liaise with the auditors in ensuring that information provided is accurate and in line with reporting requirements

Oversee monthly reconciliation process and ensure accurate recording of transactions
BANKING AND CASHFLOW MANAGEMENT

Develop and ensure that the organisation has strong financial controls in place to safeguard resources;

Maintain close control of the organisation’s bank and cash accounts maintaining mandates and ensuring that banking
arrangements are fit for purpose;

Manage and report upon the organisation’s cash flow·

Liaise with the Charity’s payroll provider to ensure that information is given to them in time and statutory requirements are
complied with.

Monitor cash flows around grant making including providing clarity as to the delays between grants being approved
and payments being made
OPERATIONS, SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES

Take a broad over-view of systems within the office, reviewing them and ensuring that they are fit for purpose;

Ensure The Advocacy Academy is compliant with strong health and safety practices, GDPR, and stays up to date with
changing regulation

Develop and maintain an up to date risk register

Work with the Office Manager to ensure the smooth running of the Office, ensuring a professional and safe environment
is maintained at all times.

Consolidate and optimise our IT systems and support the CEO in investing in a CRM
GOVERNANCE

With support from the Board secretary maintain appropriate records with Companies House and the Charity Commission, ensuring that these are submitted in a timely manner;

Maintain an oversight of Board governance, Trustee membership, rotation and terms;

With support from the Chair of Trustees, Board secretary and Senior Leadership Team, ensure Board papers are
accurate and timely, and provide secretariat support for the Board

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Robust experience and comfort working with finances including budgets, accounts, and cashflows. A qualified (or in pursuit of qualification) accountant would be ideal but is not necessary for this role. Understanding of a charity context is not necessary for the role.

We’re recruiting for a Test Lead, who will help people with sight loss live the life they choose by leading a team of test analysts and being the gatekeeper of quality configuration, customisation, and data for our Digital platforms.
As a Test Lead working in an Agile environment across a large and complex enterprise architecture, the successful postholder will be a key player in ensuring that all software change is optimised to the very highest quality.

The Equivalence Officer will be responsible for the smooth delivery of the equivalence process which assesses doctors applying for Certificates of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) and direct entry to the GMC’s Specialist Register. This is a key role for the RCR as it directly impacts on the growth of the consultant workforce accreditation in both our specialties of Radiology and Oncology, our number one policy priority.
The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated with the ability to work deadlines. They will also have a passion for delivering an exceptional customer service and being able to provide consistent and reliable advice to doctors from all over the world interested in working in the UK. Additionally, the successful candidate will need to be a fast learner as if they do not already have knowledge about both GMC regulations concerning registration in the UK and UK visa rules and requirements it is important that they have the ability to quickly build a detailed knowledge.
To be successful in this role the appointed Equivalence Officer will need to have an exceptional eye for detail and the ability to review, understand and summarise large quantities of written evidence, identifying anomalies and understanding the potential implications of different outcomes. They will be a skilled communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills able to tailor and deliver complex information to a range of audiences.
