Bexley Food Alliance Project Coordinator
The Bexley Food Alliance is a new network which was funded by the GLA to work towards taking pressure off the emergency food aid services and providing increased financial support to Bexley residents. We are looking for a Project Coordinator to take over the day-to-day running of this network (see below for a brief description). This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants to take on a part-time, one-year project, perhaps as a stepping stone into something more significant, or perhaps you’re returning to work or changing careers. This is an opportunity to be at the start of an exciting, innovative partnership project, shaping a network and forming strong alliances with various agencies.

You will work flexibly, applying initiative to provide consistent and seamless support to organisations. You will support across a variety of charity development but focus on food partnerships and wraparound support to provide more holistic support.
We work hard, we help each other and go out of our way to help others and find solutions rather than focusing on problems. Above all, everything we do is to strengthen our local Voluntary and Community Sector.
Key Duties:

- Encourage and support groups to seek funding from a range of sources including contracts and grants and provide the necessary support.
- Use our database to keep well maintained records of support given, funding achieved as a result of our support, case studies and outcomes, brief summary reports for monitoring and development purposes.
- To continuously engage in a mapping process, highlighting existing providers and supporting the start-up of new services.
- To organise and facilitate network meetings bringing organisations together to tackle food poverty and offer increased support with additional needs such as financial, physical and mental health wellbeing.
- To build relationships with various organisations, offering diverse support to increase collaboration, new offers and increased support.
- To work closely with the Local Authority to support policy change.
- To build relationships and network outside of the borough to bring in good practice and successful initiatives.
- To attend any relevant training and/or workshops that support the development of the network.
- To increase knowledge and understanding of food poverty and the cost-of-living crisis in general as well as grants and funding opportunities.
- Attend staff meetings, and training as required.
- Identify, report, and monitor any safeguarding concerns in accordance with the latest local procedures relating to the appropriate service.
- To support and work closely with all the teams within BVSC.
- To comply with, and share responsibility for ensuring the implementation of, BVSC policies and procedures and key legislation such as GDPR and Safeguarding.
- Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be assigned from time to time including travel throughout the borough to attend events, occasionally on evenings/weekends, meet with volunteers and organisations.
These are the normal duties which are required of the position; however, we do require that all staff be flexible and may be required to perform other duties to ensure the efficient running of services.
Please note that the base for this role is split between the Engine House, Bexley, and Bexley Civic Offices. In addition, the post will involve occasional working from various venues across the borough.

About FareShare
FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to nearly 9,500 frontline charities and community groups.
The food we redistribute is nutritious and good to eat. It reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week we provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people.
About FareShare Go
FareShare and the Irish social enterprise FoodCloud have been working together since 2016 in a partnership designed to help UK retailers address the issue of edible surplus food they may have within their stores. This innovative partnership, known as FareShare Go, brings together a technology platform and FareShare’s knowledge of the UK charity food redistribution market. Using this App we are connecting charities with edible surplus foods. Initially this scheme has been working with Tesco, with a view to roll this service out to all retailers across the UK & Ireland in the longer term. Since launching the scheme last year we have already connected over 7,500 charities with over 2,700 stores.
The role
As Community Coordinator, your role will focus on the growth and sustainability of the FareShare Go programme, through maximising relationships and adding value to create the best experience for our charity community. You will work to maximise the amount of food collected by charities with lower levels of compliance. The Organisation
ImpactEd Group consists of 3 discrete, but complementary, business units:
- ImpactEd Evaluation works with schools and organisations to analyse the impact of programmes and interventions to help partners do more of what works and less of what doesn’t.
- ImpactEd Consulting offers strategic and operational support for its partners, to address challenges and underpin carefully managed growth.
- The Engagement Platform (TEP) measures school and teacher engagement to support sustainable working cultures.
Since being founded in 2017, ImpactEd has worked with thousands of schools and hundreds of organisations, serving more than a quarter of a million pupils annually. We are a growing and skilled team of over 30 people. Our strategy commits to systemic impact by helping our partners to make better decisions and empowering our team to make decisions on behalf of the organisation as part of our aspirations for employee ownership.
The Opportunity
This role sits within our Evaluation unit in our Impact Partnerships team, who work with education organisations such as charities, universities and education technology companies (our ‘impact partners’). Our work focuses on helping these organisations to design and deliver evaluations, and to build their capacity for impact evaluation.
We are looking for a candidate who can support the team internally with a variety of delivery and administrative processes, working directly with our schools and partners to support their evaluation journey. This will include supporting new schools through their onboarding and data collection processes and monitoring their usage of our digital platform, the School Impact Platform. You will also be responsible for liaising with schools to schedule focus groups with teachers and pupils and organise these events accordingly, and supporting colleagues with facilitating data collection and analysis, which will include reporting processes and creating surveys which form part of our evaluation work with schools.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to apply for our new professional development pathway, launching this summer. On this two-year scheme, a small cohort will rotate between our practices, gaining wider experience within strategy, evaluation and operational development within the education and social enterprise space.

We are looking for some of the following attributes, though you might be more experienced in some areas than others, and open to a range of backgrounds:
-
Understanding and experience of the UK education system
-
Experience of quantitative and qualitative data analysis (using Excel is preferred, and this doesn’t need to be highly advanced) and report writing
-
Experience of working within an administrative or customer service/partner focused role
-
Track record of effective process and project management.
As well as this, you are likely to be most successful in the role if you:
-
Communicate clearly and persuasively, both written and verbally
-
Have exceptional attention to detail and enjoy setting up and working to clear processes
-
Are analytical and happy to spend time reviewing research literature or scrutinising data
Are entrepreneurial and solution-focused: you can think on your feet and adapt to change.
