As the Head of Finance at SAINT, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the church. Reporting into the Chief Executive Officer and the Honorary Treasurers, you will focus on the full accounting process and delivery of financial guidance for the parishes, and other related charities.
The organisation:
SAINT is one church with multiple Church of England parishes, across East London, which work together in collaboration. The four parishes that make up SAINT are: the Parish of Hackney, the Parish of St Mary with St Edward and St Luke Leyton, the Parish of St Leonard Shoreditch and the Parish of West Ham. We have been commissioned as a resource church to serve young people, train diverse leaders and plant churches in partnership with a network of friends.
The Head of Finance role is a permanent, full-time position with an opportunity for a hybrid working arrangement. The successful candidate will work at least 2 days per week on site with the flexibility to work remotely. The church offices are in a new, light-filled building next to the St. John at Hackney Church. You will be working alongside a closely integrated team of 40 staff and clergy, all with exceptional skills within their ministries.
The key duties of this Head of Finance role are as follows:
- Work with Pastoral Leads to help develop and execute the financial strategy supporting SAINT's mission and goals.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and advise on financial strategies.
- Prepare consolidated accounts for the entire church group, combining financial data from all churches and entities under SAINT.
- Facilitate annual audits, including liaising with external auditors and providing required documentation.
- Prepare, analyse and distribute monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting and financial regulations, including charity reporting requirements and VAT.
- Work with the Finance Manager to develop and monitor budgets and identify areas for cost optimisation.
- Engage in the life of the Church to develop and maintain positive staff relationships, the organisational culture and connections with the congregation and community.
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified as an Accountant with professional body membership (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting and financial management experience.
- Experience of producing statutory accounts, management accounts, cash flow forecasts, budgets and other financial reports.
- Knowledge of UK charity accounting and reporting regulations is an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Project and Finance Manager
The Hanns Seidel Foundation is a German publicly funded political foundation with its headquarters in Munich and offices around the world. The London office was established in 2019 and its main activities are international conferences, smaller panel-discussions/ roundtables, and high-level delegation visits primarily in the UK. The focus of the Foundation’s work is in key political areas such as bilateral UK-German relations and Europe, security and defence issues, the economy, and devolution/federalism where it often cooperates with renowned partner organisations. It also includes a range of networking activities with key stakeholders in politics, business, academia, and the media.
We are looking to hire a project and finance manager at the earliest possible date to work as an essential part of our small dynamic office who will support the UK director in carrying out projects&activities, running the London office and who will be responsible for accurate accounting presentable to both German and UK authorities. The post holder will work closely with the London director and coordinate with colleagues at the Foundation’s German HQ, and should speak at least basic German.
Key responsibilities will include:
Project and event management support
- Support UK director in planning, organising, and carrying out events, delegation visits by requesting quotes, researching venues, booking flights/transport/hotels etc. and receiving high level participants and visitors
- Maintaining contact management systems and monitoring and evaluation data, drafting reports, newsletters, and mailing lists
Office and Finance management
- Financial administration of projects and London office including budget planning in close coordination with the Foundation’s Headquarters in Munich
- Liaise with UK authorities, auditors, cooperation partners und legal counsel regarding finance, tax and legal matters
- Scan and file all relevant documents/receipts, carrying out regular data back-ups
- Assist director in administration of London office, incl. procurement of office supplies and liaising with external service providers

Bookkeeping
- Collate, process & pay all invoices in a timely manner and manage the Foundation’s bank account

- Bookkeeping in multi-currencies (GBP&Euro) in both UK accounting format and the foundation’s own accounts system (training will be provided)

About you
- Relevant degree/qualification (Master or equivalent years of experience) in social sciences, finance management, business administration or similar
- 2-3 years of project/event/financial management experience primarily in the UK
- Native or near-native English skills, at least basic German (intermediate/advanced desirable)
- Excellent MS Office and Adobe Acrobat skills, proficient in Windows apps as well as proven experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero)
- Be familiar with current PAYE, pension regulations, HMRC, and Companies House.
- A great self-starter who is not afraid to take the initiative and to solve arising problems
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team, responding flexibly to changing demands of the role, and adapting quickly to new and complex systems and software

I am recruiting an interim Head of Finance for one of my very well known London based not for profit clients in the Arts sector.
They are looking for someone who can sit between the Director of Finance and the rest of the division, managing the finance team and overseeing day to day operations across the Finance function.
You will have 3 direct reports and a team of 15 under those 3 - whilst the successful candidate will be able to show a broad skill set across both management accounts and financial accounts, there is a very technically strong interim in place who is taking the lead on all financial accounting tasks.

- Lead on the invoice processing on the SUN accounting system of the organisation.

Partnership Fee
- Produce Partnership Fee invoices on a yearly basis

Budgeting
- Support in the preparation of the international office budgets
Management Accounts

Terms and Conditions
Salary:£30,000 per annum
Benefits:25 days of paid annual leave, rising to 30 days after three years, and three months’ sabbatical after five years. 4% pension fund contribution with an option for additional matching contribution.

IN A NUTSHELL:
This is a pivotal role at the intersection of finance, development, and operations, ensuring the seamless functioning of critical organisational aspects. The Finance and Operations Lead will be involved in aspects of the charity’s financial operations, support grant and other fundraising and development initiatives, and optimising operational efficiency.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN:

Be the main point of contact for all finance and operational queries

Support the Chief Operating Officer with the management of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Manage the accounts payable function, credit card reconciliations and support effective cash management

Support the Head of People and Development to implement strategies on Fundraising, income and generation and report on funding from various sources, including grants, donors, and partnerships.

Manage day-to-day operations, including onboarding new staff, supporting the HR processes, and identifying areas for improvement.

Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer and the Head of Development and People to align financial and development goals.

Identify ways to enhance operational processes to support the growth of the organisation.

Work closely with the executive team to provide financial insights and contribute to strategic decision-making.

CFAB supports children on the move between the UK and other countries and children who are separated from their family in another country. The complexities of migration and international separation can make many of these children particularly hard to support and particularly vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with CFAB’s financial processes and procedures to ensure accurate preparation, processing, and maintenance of financial records.
You will also be responsible for HR administration.

Key responsibilities:
Finance
· Code and process purchase invoices, staff expenses and obtain authorisation of expenditure as per financial procedures manual.
· Save copies of the Approval Max pdf’s in the Purchase folder.
· Prepare sales invoices to customers on the receipt of instruction from the social work team and email copy of invoice to customers.
· Liaise with the social work team to ensure sales invoice requests are generated for all Opportunities raised in Salesforce.
· Update Salesforce to reflect processed sales invoices.
· Maintain records of sales and purchase invoices in accordance with CFAB’s policies and procedures
· Banking of cheques received.
· Perform credit control duties according to the financial procedures manual.
· Handle and process all petty cash claims in accordance with CFAB policy, and ensure these are correctly authorised and reconcile the petty cash tin monthly.
· Maintain the files of supplier contracts including assisting the Finance Manager to review contracts periodically.
· Maintain the Local Authority Finance contacts spreadsheet.
· Assist the Finance Manager with the maintenance of the charity asset register.
· Assisting the Finance Manager to ensure suppliers and expenses are paid on time.
· Assist the Finance Manager with monthly reconciliations (e.g. ensure that all oncosts from ISW’s are recharged to Local Authorities accordingly).
· Be the key contact for any finance queries.
· Provision of management information and reports as required.
· Any other duties as required in support of the role.
Human Resources
- Assisting the FHR Manager with HR administration support, including recruitment administration, Data Protection, maintaining legally compliant and up to date HR files etc.
- Arranging recruitment interviews.
- Sending out welcome emails to new starters.
- Assisting with organising training including group training sessions.
- Assisting with staff surveys and organising social events.
Other duties commensurate with the role as required by CFAB.

As Head of Finance, you will ensure the right cost structure, financial operating platform, systems and controls are in place to deliver the charity’s vision and strategy. Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will be a qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experience and have a good understanding of financial systems and processes. You will have extensive experience of using finance systems eg Xledger and Adaptive Insights would be desirable. You will have good knowledge of Charities SORP, statutory accounting regulations, VAT, PAYE and other payroll taxes and Gift Aid. Experience of operating at and presenting ideas at senior level including at Board level is essential for the role. With excellent communications skills, you will have proven experience of coaching and training both finance and non-finance staff. An understanding of the voluntary sector would be a bonus however it is not essential for the role.

As such they are currently looking for an interim Finance Transformation Consultant to lead on a programme of improvement across their accounting function. Key deliverables being process efficiency and a greater input and influence in the wider business.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the Finance Director in setting up the finance transformation programme, including sequencing enablers, improvement initiatives and managing any high level dependencies.
- Produce, implement and regularly report on project progress against delivery plan.
- Review and document existing finance business processes, identifying inefficiencies and bottlenecks in existing finance processes and potential solutions for discussion and agreement.
- Lead initiatives to streamline and optimise problems identified, including reengineering processes, implementing quick win changes to existing systems.
- Assess finance technology and identify opportunities to leverage new systems to enhance finance operations and reporting.
- Define key performance indicators and metrics to measure the effectiveness of finance transformation initiatives.
