Westway Trust is seeking a qualified accountant to join as our Head of Finance who will lead on all aspects of the finance function to achieve the Trusts goals. You will also manage a small team and will offer strategic finance support across the range of activities undertaken by the organisation.
You will have significant experience operating at a senior level within a complex organisation and registered charity, and will possess the right blend and balance of strategic, communication, innovation and people skills.
Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:
- Lead, manage and improve the Trust’s finance function and provide accurate, timely and relevant financial reports as required by the CEO, Executive Team and the Trust Board.
- Be the Executive Lead of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring timely papers to the CEO and to the Committee and Board as required and liaising with the Head of Governance and HR as required.
- Ensure the provision and reporting of financial accounts, forecasting and large-scale project/programme budgets, estate development plans, and the associated reporting.
- Oversight of the legal and financial statutory processes in line with the Charity Commission and Companies House requirements, including the Annual Audit. Allocating tasks for timely responses and keeping all colleagues abreast of progress.
- Monitor, cash flow, reserves, analysis of performance against the organisation’s annual business plan and dashboard as it relates to the finance function.
- Contribute to the overall leadership of the Trust and to the Trust’s future strategic and operational planning. Support Executive Team colleagues as required on the delivery of cross-team initiatives.
- Line management of the Senior Finance Manager, the Debt Recovery Consultant and the Development Partnerships Lead.
Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:
- Significant and successful experience of operating as a Head of Finance, ideally in a charity setting.
- A track record of working collaboratively with a team to develop successful internal partnerships and achieve joint success against shared objectives.
- Experience of the finance function and all the associated processes, with strong attention to detail.
- Experience of implementing enhanced reporting tools within financial software, including the ability to coach others.
- Practical knowledge of VAT, including accounting of partial exemption relevant to charities.
- Experience of managing staff and supporting their development.
- Strong interpersonal skills for both workplace and external representation contexts, operating with enthusiasm, flexibility, energy and commitment and demonstrating credibility and gravitas.
Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes:
- A good understanding of the local area.
- Experience of change management.
- Competency in use of Access Dimensions, Focal Point and other MS Office software packages.
Qualification:
- Must hold a formally recognised professional accounting qualification.

The Head of Finance will manage the high-performing finance team consisting of a Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant and Finance Business Partner. The role is offered as a contract until March 2025 on a hybrid basis and you will be assigned to one of our offices in either Launceston, Bristol, London or Manchester. Reporting to the Senior Relationship Manager (Youth Investment Fund) and supporting the other Relationship Managers, this role plays an important part in the provision of capital grants to our charity customers working in the youth sector as part of the Youth Investment Fund (YIF). You will take responsibility for ensuring key data points are kept up to date on our Salesforce database and working with grantees to ensure that they log key project updates (e.g. project forecasts, planned transactions, construction status, start and end dates). Furthermore, you will support the collection, review and report on monitoring information from grant recipients which is predominantly financial information (management accounts, annual accounts and forecasts) and construction progress reports. There will be the opportunity to manage a small portfolio of your own capital grant investments. Key to success in this role will be adopting Resonance’s continuous improvement and learning ethos.
The right candidate will be a strong team player with previous experience of grants administration, particularly in the context of government funding programmes and/or experience of capital funding. The Office Coordinator position is responsible for the general day-to-day operations of the London, UK office. Due to the nature of this position, work must generally be performed within a 30 hours / week timeframe (M-Fri). This role is an in-office role.

The role:
- Assist the Bursar to seek commercial income opportunities and monitor and advise on school investments through liaison with external investment managers.
- Deputise for the Bursar in all finance matters and at governor committees, or at SLT meetings when requested by the Head.
- Support the Bursar’s financial and audit responsibility.
- Check Income & Expenditure (I&E) variances and explain and compare findings to previous year, to budgets and to forecasts.
- Prepare weekly cashflow forecast and monthly management accounts.
- Compile and analyse the annual school budget, setting and monitoring.
- Prepare initial input data for new arrivals, departing staff, music teachers and additional overtime payments.
- Modernise the finance IT package and update the finance manual.
- Oversee and administer school fee collection, process supplier payments and invoices.

The successful candidate will be:
- A fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or at Finalist level.
- Experienced in budgeting, forecasting and producing management accounts.

For a small but vital refugee charity, we are recruiting an Interim Head of Finance for 3 + months, starting ASAP. The Senior Accountant (Financial Control) post can be based in either the London or Manchester office. This role is in the central Financial Accounting and Control Team (FACT). In addition to being DCMS’ financial accounting Centre of Excellence, the team leads in the production of the consolidated accounts of the DCMS Group (with 34 of its 42 Arms Length Bodies directly consolidated) and manages the National Lottery Distribution Fund. The team is the hub for all financial operational and control functions including treasury management, VAT, purchase to pay support and manages the relationship with DCMS’ shared services provider. The DCMS Finance team is relatively small and this provides opportunities for development not always found in a bigger department.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Accountant (Financial Control) will include:
- Management and delivery of robust financial policies, controls, processes and systems.
- Management of the core department’s key finance system (Integra) and the relationship with the department’s shared service provider.
- Overseeing the payment process for suppliers via Purchase to Pay (P2P), including prompt payment monitoring and reporting.
- Lead on the preparation of the DCMS core accounts.

The successful Senior Accountant (Financial Control) will have:
- Qualified financial accountant (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent) with demonstrable post qualifying experience in a large finance team

- Experience of managing or using financial systems and advanced knowledge of Excel
- Be an excellent communicator, able to explain complex ideas both verbally and written

This is an exciting role in our Supported Accommodation team that will be the first point of contact for the hostel and input information on the client database in order to ensure that all staff have timely and accurate information about residents. You will also assist the Registered Manager in recording and reviewing documentation in relation to the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 and our registration and regulation under OFSTED. In addition to this, you will process voids (vacant rooms) in line with housing management procedures, ensuring that rooms are cleared and liaising with the Facilities Manager to ensure that rooms are habitable as soon as possible.

It’s an exciting time to join The National Lottery Community Fund as the Environmental Officer on a part time basis, 25 hours a week.
The National Lottery Community Fund is delivering an environmental strategy that will not only help communities we Fund but also identifies us as an exemplar in managing our own environmental impact.
The role will help lead our journey to net zero emissions by 2030, as well as support our environmental strategy both internally and externally. An interest in climate change and an understanding of environmental sustainability in the workplace will be a key part to this role as well as the confidence to bring in new ideas.
The role will sit within the Facilities team which helps support all nine of the Funds offices which are based in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
The environmental officer role will be varied but some of the key responsibilities are:
- You will be responsible for facilitating the Fund’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact and move towards being a net zero organisation by 2030. You will lead best practice around environmental sustainability across sites and engage staff to consider their own impact.
- You will draw learning and resources from external sources, to develop an array of approaches, with a view to getting all staff to consider the resources they use, irrespective of their motivation.
- You will support the Fund’s established Climate action network, ensuring that they all feel connected to and can contribute to energy and resource savings projects/initiatives/themes.
- You will ensure projects are well planned and progressed and will collate and share environmental measures to demonstrate achievements.
- You will help with environmental data capture and carbon accounting and reporting on any trends both internally and externally.
- You will also provide relevant updates to SMT and work closely with the SMT lead on environmental sustainability, highlighting any issues requiring resolution.
- The role will mainly be based in one office, but you’ll be required to engage across the Fund and develop communications that will reach all staff.
- You may be drawn into any project/team to advise on environmental sustainability.
- You will engage as the sustainable business partner with internal and external stakeholders and will support the communication of strong external messages declaring our dedication to working sustainably.
The ideal candidate for this role should have:
- Passion, commitment, and enthusiasm to help deliver our net zero targets.
- Good communication skills as well as strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Previous experience of environmental sustainability within the workplace would be beneficial.

About the role
The London Library is looking for an Acquisitions and Discovery Assistant to assist in the acquisition and management of Library E-resources and print resources.
The role includes supporting the successful acquisition and seamless delivery of electronic resources to library users, utilising and maintaining relevant library systems and records; assisting purchasing decisions and supporting licensing, ordering and payment processes; verifying access, liaising with suppliers & Library IT, and ensuring correct metadata is presented to users; plus monitoring resource use and collecting data for the evaluation of subscriptions. There is the opportunity to support membership and services, including giving tours to prospective members.
In addition to assisting with the administration of E-books, the role requires processes associated with the management of the print journal collection, including serials and donated materials, such as checking in new issues and ensuring publications are shelved correctly, applying stamps, recording invoices, recording changes in publishers' information and preparing completed volumes of serial parts for binding and checking.
There is potential to grow and develop the role, which will join our busy Acquisitions and Discovery team and assisting with administrative tasks associated with cataloguing along with supporting the Library’s internal Digitisation processes as required.
