The Youth and Community Programmes team are looking for a Community Programmes Lead worker to support a broad range of activities aimed mainly at young people and over 50’s. Activities are delivered mainly over evenings and weekends aimed at making our community an inspirational place.
You will lead on session delivery and support the planning of programmes. You will manage and coordinate sessional workers, volunteers and workshop leaders working in sessions.

The Opportunity

Main Responsibilities
This role is pivotal to MapAction being operationally ready. The postholder is responsible for coordinating the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing engagement of highly skilled, specialist volunteers (MapAction currently has approx 100 in the UK, but plans to grow this and have a more globally diverse pool of volunteers). The Policy and Health Influencing teams are responsible for using clinical data and evidence to shape what the organisation thinks and to develop solutions that drive change for men with and at risk of prostate cancer. This means working with clinicians, patients and stakeholders to interpret the latest changes in prostate cancer research, care, support and treatment which will help shape our strategic direction and activities.
As the Policy and Health Influencing Coordinator, you're key to supporting these teams. You'll have a varied and far-reaching portfolio of work and sometimes arranging important stakeholder events and meetings ensuring we're hearing from people who've been through prostate cancer themselves. You'll also help share our work on social media and capturing the outcomes of our external engagement.
In this role you’ll assist us in keeping track of and evaluating our progress in line with our organisational strategy, as well as keeping an eye on trends in the wider cancer and health landscape and reporting on them. Plus, you'll handle budget matters and make sure we have effective budget monitoring mechanisms in place.

You’ll have excellent coordination skills and can organise others too (especially teams which are based across the UK) and have experience of creating and updating forward planners, project schedules and streamlining team processes. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of a portfolio of academic events, including conferences, workshops, seminars, and training courses held both in-person and online across Europe.
This is a fantastic opportunity to execute a range of duties such as venue selection, site visits, organising social programmes, academic panel scheduling, content creation, developing and maintaining stakeholder and supplier relationships, on-site event set up and management, and event website configuration.
