Job description

Are you looking for a rewarding job where you go home knowing that you have made a real impact on someone’s life?

Sense are currently recruiting Female Only Support Workers to join our supported living service in Bristol, this is a permanent role working 37.5 hours per week. You must be flexible to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. No prior experience is required as Sense will provide you with full training.

As a Support Worker you will support and enable people to live the life they choose: to make choices, to express themselves and live as independently as possible. Our Bristol service supports people with complex and learning disabilities, including autism, aged 18 to 25. In addition to assisting with personal care, you’ll support our residents to do the activities they enjoy; this might include sports, acting, trips to the theatre, cooking, or supporting someone to attend social events.

We welcome candidates from the Bristol African Caribbean Community to join us to work with an individual providing a number of community support activities, specifically to the African Caribbean population in Bristol. You will be supporting an individual from the Afro-Caribbean community so applicants must be able to cater for the individual’s needs. Cultural awareness and insight is required.

For genuine occupational reasons we are looking to appoint a female Afro-Caribbean only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010).

In return we will offer you…

• £9.25 per hour
• Bespoke, rewarding career pathways
• The opportunity to work in a large, diverse and successful charity where you can develop your skills, knowledge and career in a supportive and flexible environment
• Group Personal Pension scheme
• Generous annual leave entitlement
• Comprehensive induction and commitment to ongoing training
• Enhanced disclosure cost covered
